Chapter 145 Chapter 145
LUCIAN
It was finally time to end it. I had patiently waited for this day while Ailsa healed. The dungeon reeked of fear.
I stood at the far end of the corridor, unmoving, my hands clasped behind my back as I stared at the iron doors that held them. All of them were exactly where they belonged.
I had made sure they were not giving food or water. I wanted them to rot from inside.
Aiden stepped up beside me.
“We are ready” he said.
My jaw tightened slightly.
“Bring them out” I said in a quiet command.
The guards moved immediately. Chains rattled and I heard metals scraped before the doors opened. They were dragged out one by one.
Elara was brought out first. Even now… she tried to hold herself together. Her chin lifted slightly. Her hair disheveled but her posture stubborn but I could see it. The fear behind her eyes. She was convinced that I wasn’t going to punish her. She met my gaze.
She looked uncertain about her fate now.
Dahlia followed. She wasn’t as composed as Elara, her lips trembled and her eyes sought mine. There was a pleasing look in them.
Damian was next. His gaze went straight to me and then past me. He was searching for her.
Of course.
Even now, he thought of her. My wolf stirred. He wanted snap Damian’s neck at the spot.
And finally, Lorcan was brought out last. The moment he stepped forward, the air shifted. Not because he held power anymore but because of what he represented.
The past.
His eyes found mine and he smiled. He was about to die and he still had the cocky grin. The one I had imagined breaking more times than I could count.
“Lucian” he said. I didn’t respond.
The guards forced them to their knees in the center of the courtyard. The entire pack had gathered, watching and waiting. Some were judging. I gave them the privilege of watching this execution because this wasn’t just punishment. It was a message.
Aiden stepped forward and his voice rang out.
“Crimes against the Luna, treason against the Alpha. Conspiracy, poisoning, abduction…”
“Enough” I said, cutting him off. Silence fell instantly. I stepped forward.
“Elara” Her breath hitched. I crouched just enough to meet her eyes.
“You wanted power” She swallowed.
“I wanted what I deserved” a faint smile, touched my lips.
“You killed for it”
“I did what I had to” My gaze hardened.
“And now you’ll die for it”
“Wait…” she said quickly, her composure slipping. “Lucian, listen, this doesn’t have to end this way…”
“It already has” Her breathing quickened.
“I can help you” she rushed. “I know things, alliances and strategies…”
“I don’t need anything from you”
Panic flickered across her face.
“Please” she whispered. The word was barely audible.
“I can be useful”
My expression didn’t change.
“I have no use of you”
I stood and stepped away. Her voice cracked as she called after me.
“Lucian, please…”
I didn’t look back. I moved to Dahlia next. I was more disappointed in Dahlia than I was with the others. Because I’ve know her for a very long time, I didn’t believe she was capable of such atrocities.
“Dahlia” She shook her head before I even spoke.
“No, no, please…this wasn’t supposed to happen like this, I wasn’t going to betray you, I didn’t even want..”
“You poisoned my mate and an innocent person was punished” Her words died instantly.
“I…”
“You wanted to make my mate suffer. For what exactly “ Tears streamed down her face.
“I was scared…”
“And she wasn’t?”
“Please” she cried. “I’ll leave, I’ll disappear and you’ll never see me again…”
“Of course I won’t see you again with what I have planned” she knew the meaning of that. I straightened.
“You made your choice”
She screamed as the guards tightened their hold on her but I was already moving on.
“Damian.”
He didn’t speak immediately and just looked at me.
“I didn’t hurt her. I care about her”
“You were part of the conspiracy to take her away from me”
“You don’t deserve her”
“And you do?”
“I would have been a better option. You didn’t even care about her and you couldn’t protect her” I scoffed. Even in the face of death, Damian was still courageous. A bitter smile touched his lips.
“She could have chosen me if you were not in the picture”
I grabbed him, my hand wrapping around his throat as I lifted him slightly off the ground. My control snapped tight around the urge to tear him apart right there.
“She would never choose you” I said, my voice dropping deadly. “Not in this life or in any life”
His face reddened slightly. He didn’t say anything because had already lost. I dropped him back to his knees.
“You don’t deserve a quick death”
I finally moved to Lorcan. I stood in front of him. He just watched me like we were still equals. We used to be equals but now he was a fallen Alpha. Maybe now was the time to end the long feud between our packs.
“You look tired” he said. I tilted my head slightly.
“You’re barely alive and you’re commenting on my appearance” A faint smirk touched his lips.
“It doesn’t matter if you kill me, it won’t change the fact that Ailsa was mine first and I’ll always be a part of her”
My wolf surged possessively but I didn’t show any reaction. Lorcan was trying to bait me but I wouldn’t give him that satisfaction.
“I don’t care” I said. That wiped the smirk from his face.
“Why don’t you remove this chains and let’s fight man to man or is the great Lucian scared?” My jaw tightened.
“You already had that chance but you’re just a weak ass man. When you’re gone, your pack would be handed over to your Beta Chase. A more deserving Alpha than you’ll ever be” I said with a smirk.
“And also, Chase has been working with me”
“That fucker!” He cursed.
“Too bad that he wasn’t able to come and watch your sentence. Your people are rejoicing over your death. Even your so called mate is now happily mated to Chase” his eyes widened like he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“You won’t be alive to see all you fought for. And I hope you perish in hell”
“Kill them” I turned away.
“You’ll regret this, you jerk!” Lorcan screamed, his chains rattled as he tried to break free.
“I swear Lucian, this is not finished”
“No mercy” I said.
My words echoed and their fates were sealed. They started begging. All of them except Lorcan. Their screams made me all the more excited because it showed that they were scared of death. But mercy had never been an option.
Not after what they did to Ailsa. I was not merciful and I won’t start now. As I walked back to the pack house where Ailsa was their screams got louder but I didn’t look back.
Because now, there was nothing left standing between us.
Nothing at all.
