Chapter 72 Destroy the Adams Family

Chapter 72 Destroy the Adams Family
Fitch said that, but I didn’t get too angry.
Ever since they sent people to drag Matthew and me here, I had a feeling I knew what he wanted.

Fitch told his secretary to hand me a check and a document.
“This is the custody transfer agreement. Sign it. From now on, don’t contact Matthew again. He has nothing to do with you anymore.”

He didn’t even look at me while saying that, as if he was certain I’d just sign without a word.

“I’m not giving Matthew to you. He’s my child. You have no right to do this.”

I didn’t take the document. There was no need to think about it—no mother in her right mind would give up her child.

I came here with the bodyguards because I couldn’t fight them off, and talking to them was pointless, they only followed Fitch’s orders.
The only person worth talking to was Fitch himself.

I said what I needed to say, then turned around with Matthew in my arms.
But his bodyguards stepped in front of the door.

“Three years, Ashley, and you’re still this stupid? The Adams family never fails to get what it wants,” Fitch said arrogantly.

For a moment, I thought I was looking at Julio.
No wonder Julio turned out the way he did,he must’ve learned plenty of that madness from Fitch.

Isabel frowned and tried to reason with him. “Ashley is Matthew’s mother. You can’t just separate a mother from her child.”

“Isabel, you’re too kind. What kind of future could Matthew have with that woman? Only with the Adams family can he get the best education and one day inherit the company.”

“You didn’t raise Julio right! You’re a lunatic, and you made him one too!” I stared at Fitch without fear.
With a father like him, it was no surprise Julio became unstable. Fitch was suffocating to be around.

“That’s nonsense!” he shouted, nearly jumping with rage.
“Are you idiots dead? Take the kid!” he barked at the guards.

The guards who’d been standing still suddenly rushed toward me, trying to snatch Matthew from my arms. I held on tightly as Matthew burst into terrified cries.
My heart was pounding.

I kept looking toward the desperate door, until I saw a familiar figure appear. And finally, I could breathe again.

Julio’s POV

“Stop!” I stormed into the villa, kicking down anyone in my way.
The guards froze the moment they saw me, backing off from Ashley and Matthew.

Ashley exhaled in relief. She didn’t look hurt.
“Are you okay?” I asked, still not at ease.
“I’m fine,” she said.

That was enough for me to relax.

I’d just finished dealing with the police when I got her text. Warner had shown up again, thinking he could finally nail me for something.
But my cruise ship operates in international waters,it’s under the jurisdiction of its flag state, not the U.S. And that state had no interest in handling the matter.

More importantly, Warner dropped his charges two days later.
He thought the Adams family would back him, but once he lost all his shares and assets, he was nothing but useless to them. If he weren’t part of the family by blood, he’d be living on the streets.

After I took his shares, I became the second-largest shareholder after Fitch. Fitch wouldn’t let him press charges. Between the two of us, we decide what happens in the Adams family.

By law, I still had to sign a few closing documents. That’s when Ashley’s message came through.
I’d set a special ringtone for her, so the second I heard it, I checked my phone. She was asking for help.

I handed everything over to Bill and drove straight to Beverly Hills.

I stood in front of Ashley and Matthew, shielding them both.
Matthew was trembling, clutching the sleeve of my robe with his tiny hand.

“Julio, what are you doing?”

“I’m protecting my woman and my child.”

Fitch’s face turned red. He really was the type to blow up easily, someone like that could never run the Adams Group properly.

“Matthew is an Adams! He belongs with us!” Fitch shouted.

“What does the Adams family have to do with him? He’s mine and Ashley’s child. He stays with us.”

“You’re an Adams, Julio. That makes him one too!” Fitch barked back. He couldn’t understand a word I was saying。

And honestly, I couldn’t understand him either.

“Then I’ll leave the Adams family.”

Fitch staggered back, looking like he might faint from anger.
The old man’s heart really wasn’t built for this. He wasn’t fit to run the company anyway.

If I wanted to avoid ending up broke one day, I needed to take control of the Adams Group soon.
Not because I cared about it,but because I didn’t want Fitch to ever use it against Ashley again.

“Julio, I know you care about Ashley and Matthew,” Isabel said softly, helping Fitch sit on the couch. “But you can talk to him calmly.”

“If he wanted to talk, he wouldn’t have gone behind my back to drag Ashley and Matthew here!”

I’d always been patient with Isabel. She never hurt me, and she looked so fragile it was hard to be harsh.
But this time was different. If I hadn’t come, Ashley might’ve been hurt.Matthew would’ve been taken from her.

Ashley loves that kid more than anything. I once tried to use Matthew to get her back, she was furious.

“The boy stays here today!” Fitch snapped once he caught his breath.

Even half-conscious, he still managed to say the things I hated most.

“You want to replace me with him. You think you can groom him as the Adams heir. But I’m the second-largest shareholder now, Fitch. What do you think would happen if I sold my shares to the Martinez family?”

The Martinez family had been rivals of the Adams family for years. If they got their hands on my shares, Fitch’s influence would crumble, and nothing he tried would go smoothly.
The company wouldn’t last long after that.

Fitch’s eyes widened,he hadn’t seen that coming.
“You’re insane! This company is our family’s legacy!” his voice echoed through the whole house.

“Fitch, if I can’t have it, I’ll destroy it. You know me I don’t make empty threats.”

His face went pale; he pointed at me, trembling, almost speechless.
He wanted to hit me, but Isabel stopped him.

“Fitch, let Julio handle this. Matthew’s too young to be away from his mother,” she said gently.

Fitch ran a hand through his hair in frustration. “Even if we agree, do you think the Garcia family will? They won’t let Matthew live to compete with Elvira’s future child for the Adams inheritance! What can this woman do to protect him?”

Isabel fell silent for a moment, then looked at me.
“Julio, your father’s right. The Adams Group needs the Garcia family right now. Our business ties are deep.”

I shrugged. I didn’t care about any of that.
“How do you even know the Garcias want Matthew dead?”
