Chapter 219 Alexander, You're Too Shameless

Chapter 219 Alexander, You're Too Shameless

Alexander's voice carried a deep, magnetic quality that blended with the sound of the guitar.

The classical guitar's tone was elegant and mellow, and in Alexander's hands it sounded like a British gentleman softly reciting poetry.

The piece wasn't particularly long or short. You could tell Alexander rarely played instruments - his technique was a bit clumsy.

His fingers were long and graceful, with distinct knuckles. The daylight from outside the office fell on him, making him glow golden.

As the melody faded, Catherine's heart beat along with the guitar strings.

"First time playing. If there's another chance, I'll play something better for you."

Catherine looked away, lowering her eyes to hide her expression.

"Don't play anymore until your hand heals. And your left hand seems pretty nimble too."

If she remembered correctly, when Alexander was writing with her pen in the office earlier, he'd used his left hand.

The music store's financial reports now had additions - all the errors Alexander had circled for her.

With that level of skill, how had he had the nerve to make her feed him this morning?

No wonder Felix had looked at them with such a satisfied expression.

Thinking about this, Catherine's face felt a bit hot.

She looked coldly at Alexander. "Are you a three-year-old?"

When she was three, she didn't need anyone to feed her, let alone pull these ridiculous little tricks.

Alexander put down the guitar and leaned in close to Catherine, close enough that their breaths mingled.

"If I were three, could I kiss you, Catherine?"

Catherine jumped up, clenching her fists. "Shameless! Alexander, aren't you shameless?"

If the Howard Group employees saw Alexander being this clingy and saying things like that, they'd probably be shocked!

Watching Catherine stride out of the office and slam the door with a dull thud, Alexander's lips curved into a pleased smile.

Alexander said softly, "Forgot to tell you - in school, besides guitar, I also learned that to chase the girl you like, you have to be a bit shameless."

Catherine strode out of the office and walked straight to the air conditioner in the music store. Only when the cold air blew on her face did she gradually calm down.

Wasn't Alexander being a bit too shameless?

She had no idea how he could say those things so casually!

Catherine's mind was in chaos when her phone rang.

Sophia's voice came through: "Boss, I think I'm in big trouble."

"What's wrong?"

"Richard's been really concerned about me these past couple days. I suspect he has improper intentions toward me, but I've thought about it - I haven't said anything that would make him misunderstand!"

To avoid male actors getting the wrong idea, Sophia always kept her distance, being a cooperative partner with clear boundaries.

Catherine pressed her temples.

"You're overthinking it. Richard told me that after finding out we're close, he's just looking out for you a bit. Your type belongs in a zoo as a monkey, not Richard's type at all."

"That's a relief. I was really worried my charm was too much. Richard's looks were kind of scary."

"He's nearsighted. He looks at everyone the same way."

Sophia was silent for a moment. "You've gotten really sophisticated with your insults! Oh, by the way, an actress on our set said she recently bought a big piece of warm jade. Aren't we not selling those right now?"

"Defective products. Go investigate who's been taking the defective ones we don't want."

Although Galactic Aurora Collective controlled the largest warm jade supply chain, they only wanted high-quality warm jade, rejecting anything even slightly inferior.

The pieces of warm jade on that violin earlier were quite low quality.

"There are only a few families that collect warm jade. I'll investigate right away."

Putting away her phone, Catherine saw Nora, the music store's new manager, walk over respectfully. "Ms. Windsor, there's a woman outside who says she wants to meet you. Do you know her?"

Catherine's gaze moved past the rows of instruments to the familiar figure standing at the door.

"Don't know her. Not seeing her."

The person at the door was none other than Lucas's mother, Molly.

Catherine wasn't surprised Molly had found her. Imperia City was big, but if someone was determined, they could track her down.

Nora walked to the door. "I'm sorry, Ms. Windsor says she doesn't know you."

Ms. Windsor?

Molly's eyes showed some shrewdness.

This music store was the biggest in Imperia City. If Catherine really was the owner, she'd have no worries about food and clothing.

The Johnson family had gone bankrupt a while ago, all their businesses mysteriously facing obstacles. Molly had simply divorced Steven.

At least her family still had some money - she wouldn't have to sleep on the streets with that loser Steven.

She hadn't expected to run into Catherine!

"Can I come in to buy something then?"

"Of course. What kind of instrument are you looking for? I can show you around."

Molly's gaze swept over the instruments and their price tags. Seeing the string of zeros, she was shocked.

The cheapest instrument here cost twenty thousand dollars?

How had Catherine gotten this music store?

"Does Ms. Windsor own this music store by herself?"

"Yes, and the gallery next door and the music store gallery across the street - Ms. Windsor owns them all independently."

So Catherine was rich now?

Molly was thrilled and quickly went outside to call Lucas.

"Lucas, listen to me. I wouldn't harm you. Go investigate Catherine. Stop thinking about Clara, that little bitch who's about to go to jail."

"Got it. Hanging up now."

Lucas didn't avoid the person next to him when he answered the call. Clara, lying in front of him, looked terrible!

"Lucas, what does your mother mean? I'm carrying your child. You can't abandon me!"

She didn't even know why she'd been at Oliver's accident scene. She'd opened her eyes to see Oliver covered in blood - Clara had nearly fainted from fright!

If they hadn't discovered she was pregnant, she'd probably be in jail by now.

Lucas looked impatient. "Clara, I'm not even sure if this child is mine. Who knows if you've been with someone else?"

Clara looked at Lucas in disbelief.

"What do you mean? How can you doubt me? This child is yours!"

"I have things at the company. I'm leaving. Take care of yourself."

Lucas got up and left without giving Clara another chance to speak.

Clara clutched her stomach, watching Lucas leave resentfully.

The Johnson family was bankrupt - what company could he possibly have to go to? He must be going to find Catherine!

But she had to keep this baby, or she'd have to go to jail.
