Chapter 211 Alexander Gets Injured
Emilia didn't catch what George said.
Catherine turned around from the passenger seat to look at George and Emilia.
"George, you haven't been home for two days. Want to go home?"
George quickly pulled out his phone and opened the camera to check his face. "They really have professional ethics - they didn't hit my face! Then it's fine, let's go home."
If Aurora saw any injuries on his face, the whole Windsor family wouldn't get any sleep!
After confirming there were no injuries on his face, George breathed a sigh of relief and glanced at Emilia beside him.
"Emilia, come with us."
"What? Can I? It's already so late, and showing up without notice doesn't seem right. I haven't even prepared a gift for your mom."
Catherine shook her head. "It's fine. My mom has asked about you several times. She's really looking forward to having you over."
The car engine started, heading toward Starry Residence as the night grew darker.
Just after they left, a car parked in the reeds also drove away, heading in the completely opposite direction.
Starry Residence, Moonlight Mansion, The Windsor Mansion.
Everyone in the Windsor family had already gone to bed. After Catherine settled Emilia into the guest room, she returned to her own room.
As soon as she got back to her room, her phone rang.
Annie's anxious voice came through the receiver. "Are you asleep? Could you please come check on Mr. Howard? He's in really bad shape!"
Catherine frowned slightly. "Where is he?"
"At The Howard Mansion. He refuses to go to the hospital no matter what. Please come take a look!"
"Give me two minutes."
The Howard Mansion was right across the way. As soon as Catherine reached the door, she saw Annie looking anxious and tense, with quite a bit of blood on her clothes.
"Ms. Windsor! Alexander is in his room. I'll take you there."
The huge Howard Mansion formed a stark contrast with the lively Windsor Mansion. The house was terrifyingly quiet - even the sound of the fountain in the courtyard was crystal clear.
Pushing open Alexander's bedroom door, she was hit by a strong smell of blood!
Catherine frowned. "Why not go to the hospital?"
"Alexander said it wasn't serious. We couldn't persuade him, so we had to come find you. Thankfully you were willing to come."
Catherine walked closer to look at Alexander.
Alexander's eyes were tightly closed. His wounds appeared to have been simply treated with no signs of infection, but somehow the bandage on his wrist had come loose, with blood seeping through.
"Medical kit."
"I'll get it right away!"
Annie rushed out to get the medical kit. When she came back, she saw Catherine's hand on Alexander's forehead.
His temperature was very high, probably a reaction from the injuries.
After unwrapping the bandage on Alexander's wrist, applying medicine, and rebandaging it, Catherine carefully checked Alexander's other wounds. Most were injuries from the Heritage Storage Depot explosion.
"Ms. Windsor, is Mr. Howard okay?"
"He's alright. He has a fever. He'll wake up after it breaks."
Annie breathed a sigh of relief. She'd been on edge all night and could finally relax.
Catherine looked up at her, her voice carrying authority. "Come here."
Annie instinctively replied, "Yes!"
Somehow, facing Catherine's frowning face made her heart race even more than seeing the dean of students back in school.
Catherine beckoned to Annie. "Alexander is fine for now. Come out with me. Don't your wounds need bandaging?"
Annie froze for a moment!
She'd been so worried about Alexander that she'd forgotten about her own injuries. It was normal for assassins to get hurt on missions. When she called Catherine, she'd been prepared to be questioned.
But she hadn't expected Catherine to care about her injuries!
"I'm fine, I can bandage myself!"
Catherine glanced at Annie, her eyes showing undeniable authority.
"Come out. I don't want to say it twice."
Annie quickly followed Catherine to the guest room. When she removed her clothes, she realized the wound had stuck to the fabric, making her gasp in pain.
While cleaning Annie's wounds, Catherine asked, "Now tell me, what did Alexander do to get injured?"
"We ran into some gang fights at the border. Someone wanted to go down fighting and had planted a bunch of bombs beforehand. We weren't involved, just happened to pass by."
Running into gang fights on the border was completely normal - gangs that didn't like each other brawled almost every day.
But Shadow Syndicate, as a top-two organization on the dark web, wouldn't make such a basic mistake.
This could only mean that the place where those gangs were fighting was exactly where Alexander had planned to go!
"Where did you run into them?"
Annie hesitated. Meeting Catherine's bright eyes, she got scared and could only close her eyes and say, "Near Galactic Aurora Collective's abandoned laboratory."
Galactic Aurora Collective's laboratory covered quite a large area. It wasn't like gangs hadn't thought about targeting that lab.
Even though it was abandoned, Galactic Aurora Collective's reputation still stood strong. What if they could find something good inside?
If they really found something good, Galactic Aurora Collective wouldn't be Galactic Aurora Collective.
"What was Alexander doing there?"
"You probably know we destroyed Abyssal Blades. Alexander suspects his mother's death years ago was connected to Galactic Aurora Collective, so he wanted to investigate."
Alexander's mother's death had always been a thorn in his heart.
All these years, Alexander had never given up on investigating the truth.
Catherine put down the gauze and bandages. "Done. Go rest. Remember to take these antibiotics."
Annie snapped back to reality and realized Catherine had been asking her these questions to distract her from the pain!
Catherine was so kind!
"I can rest in the guest room. Call me if you need anything!"
"Go back. You're not needed here. I'll tell Alexander if he asks."
Resting at The Howard Mansion wouldn't be real rest anyway. Annie's injuries were much more serious than Alexander's - she should be recuperating.
"Yes! I'll do whatever you say!"
Catherine stood up and looked at the cold, quiet Howard Mansion. "Has it always been this quiet here?"
Annie nodded. "Yes. In all my years with Shadow Syndicate, Alexander's home has always been like this. Felix would rather stay at the hospital than come back. Alexander has never had anyone by his side."
"After meeting you, Alexander has been coming home more often!"
This home was perfect enough to be used as a model home for a decoration company - not a trace of warmth. The Windsor Mansion was always noisy and lively, while here it was completely cold and empty.
Annie couldn't help but say, "I've seen Alexander spacing out in his room many times. Later I found out you live right across from him."
Catherine was silent for a moment, then nodded at Annie.
"I understand. Go back now. I'll watch over Alexander."
"Alright, thank you."
After Annie left, Catherine pushed open Alexander's bedroom door again and walked in.
She reached out to feel Alexander's forehead, but he grabbed her hand.
The unconscious Alexander seemed to have no awareness, only mumbling out of habit.
"Catherine, don't go, don't leave me!"
