Chapter 177 You Die, I Will Spare the Mercenary Group
Danielle stared at Alexander with reluctance.
"Who is she? Do you really have a fiancée?"
Alexander lifted his gaze to the woman standing directly in front of him.
"Who are you?"
Danielle stared at Alexander in disbelief!
He had actually forgotten her? This couldn’t possibly be real!
"Nightfall, if this woman is threatening you, just say the word. I’ll help you no matter what it takes.”
Alexander immediately raised his hands in surrender, his face full of the desire to survive.
"Catherine, I don't know her, I swear!"
Catherine gave a slight nod. “Are you being threatened by me?”
Alexander looked completely baffled. “Happily so. When would you like to threaten me? What exactly are you planning to use?”
Catherine's face flushed red as she looked at Alexander in confusion.
"Are you sick? If she’s here for you, then deal with it.”
“Sick or not, you should still examine me.”
“You’re from Thunderstrike Mercenaries?”
Alexander gently took Catherine’s hand and glanced up at Danielle. From the woman’s camouflage gear and the dagger strapped at her waist, she had to be from Thunderstrike Mercenaries.
In this border area, only people from Thunderstrike Mercenaries liked to wear camouflage. From this woman's outfit and the dagger at her waist, she should be from Thunderstrike Mercenaries.
Danielle nodded eagerly. Did Nightfall actually remember her?
“Yes! I’m Danielle from Thunderstrike Mercenaries. I saved you before remember?”
The instant she spoke, Alexander’s expression shifted subtle, but unmistakably meaningful.
It would have been far better if she had kept quiet. Now it was painfully obvious she was just an idiot trying to steal credit for someone else’s lifesaving act.
.
He had briefly entertained the possibility that this Danielle might have saved him but later, judging by her sloppy shooting stance, he knew the real savior had possessed far superior marksmanship.
The one who saved him back then had been exceptionally skilled.
Alexander t drew the pistol from his waist, flicked off the safety, and placed it gently in Catherine’s hand.
Catherine looked at him puzzled. "What for?"
"I want that bird in the tree over there. Can you shoot it down for me?"
Alexander's gaze fell on a tree behind Danielle, where several Gouldian Finches that Timothy had bought at great expense were perched in the lush branches.
If the Gouldian Finch's feathers were made into a hair clip decoration for Catherine, it would definitely look beautiful!
He felt a bit uncomfortable seeing Catherine wearing a headband made by another man every day.
He wanted Catherine to have his things all over her!
Catherine glanced at Alexander, raised the pistol, and aimed at Danielle’s head. Before Danielle could even react, the bullet cracked out and neatly shot down the Gouldian Finch perched high in the branches behind her.
Timothy’s heart shattered. “I spent a fortune on those birds! Alexander, this isn’t over!”
Danielle let out a sharp, terrified scream.
This woman had actually fired at her!
Wasn’t she afraid of never leaving Ironclad Jail territory alive?
Danielle clenched her jaw tight. “You’re heartless. Do you really think Nightfall would ever fall for a woman like you?”
"The person who saved me back then had much better shooting skills than you."
It was that one shot that killed the drug lord in front of him and snatched him from the hands of death!
Not to mention Danielle - even if you added up everyone in Thunderstrike Mercenaries, you couldn't find many sharpshooters who never missed!
"I don't care that you lied to me, since I never believed you anyway. But if you offend my fiancée, I'll make Thunderstrike Mercenaries completely disappear from here!"
Danielle hadn't expected that Alexander had known all along that she wasn't the one who saved him back then.
How did he know?
And this woman, how was her shooting so good? How come she had never heard of a woman with such good shooting skills at Ironclad Jail?
Danielle brushed the hair by her ear and looked at Timothy.
"Timothy, people can just shoot guns on your territory? They really don't respect you."
Timothy met Catherine's examining gaze and wanted nothing more than to kick Danielle away.
"So what if she doesn't respect me? Even if she kicks me into a ditch, I'd be happy!"
If he had known this idiot would say such awful things, he shouldn't have let her in!
If all the good impression he'd worked so hard to build with Catherine was gone, Timothy would make sure to completely wipe out Danielle's Thunderstrike Mercenaries.
Catherine looked at Timothy with some annoyance.
"I'm not interested in kicking you into a ditch."
Danielle looked at Catherine and Timothy in disbelief. Everyone in the border area knew what kind of temper Timothy had. This was the first time she'd seen Timothy be so pleasant to a woman.
Could it be... Danielle's eyes suddenly lit up as she looked at Catherine with a calculating expression.
"Timothy, is this woman your relative? If you're going to protect her like this, you should also tell her the rules of survival at Ironclad Jail, so she doesn't get beaten up later without knowing why."
Catherine looked at Danielle’s reluctant expression again and sighed once more. “Do you really think Nightfall would ever fall for a woman like you?”
Seeing Alexander being so gentle with Catherine, Danielle was dying of jealousy and wanted to kill Catherine on the spot and take her place!
Catherine turned to Timothy, cracking her knuckles with a cold, detached expression.
“I’m a little annoyed. Mind if I hit her?”
Timothy instantly launched into shameless flattery.
“Yes! Absolutely! Go ahead even beat me up if you feel like it!”
Watching Timothy like this, Alexander could barely hold back his laughter.
Catherine nodded and walked toward Danielle without hesitation, slapping her across the face.
A cold smile appeared at the corner of Danielle's mouth. She had wanted to provoke Catherine into making a move. Did she think she could beat a mercenary who survived in the border area?
Unexpectedly, Catherine's slap landed solidly on Danielle's face, and she had no chance to fight back at all!
"You!"
Danielle didn't dare underestimate her opponent anymore. Covering her face, she met Catherine's punches and kicks, only to realize the moment they clashed that she was no match for Catherine at all!
Catherine’s fists and sweeping kicks landed with ruthless precision, each strike targeting vital points. Within moments, Danielle was crumpled on the ground, arms wrapped protectively around her head, screaming.
"Stop! Stop hitting me!"
Catherine dusted off her hands, looking at her with some disappointment.
"Boring. Can't take a beating. I thought you were pretty tough. With just this level of skill, you can stay in a mercenary group? Thunderstrike Mercenaries has existed too long - they've gone soft."
Timothy immediately chimed in. “Catherine is absolutely right. Our next goal is to wipe Thunderstrike Mercenaries completely off the map.”
Danielle looked at Timothy in horror, then at Alexander who was massaging Catherine's hands.
"No, please don't do this, Nightfall, save me! I can do anything for you!"
Alexander looked at Catherine and said gently, "Catherine, it's up to you. I'll listen to whatever you say."
Catherine stared straight at Danielle and smiled a smile as cold and merciless as the Grim Reaper stepping back out of hell.
"Then go die, and I'll spare Thunderstrike Mercenaries. How about that?"
Make her die? Was this woman a devil?
Catherine looked at the reluctance in Danielle's eyes and sighed. "In the border area, one person dying doesn't matter. Since you're so righteous and want to save the whole mercenary group, just go die yourself."
Danielle gritted her teeth. "You're so heartless. Do you think Nightfall will like a woman like you?"
Alexander looked at Danielle and spoke coldly.
“Catherine will always be my one true love. You’re stupid, ugly, and terrible at fighting. Stop upsetting my fiancée.”
Only then did Danielle remember that her face was still swollen and bruised from Catherine’s earlier beating.
She ground her teeth, refusing to die just to save the entire mercenary group.
Watching Danielle's limping figure leave with difficulty, Ethan, who was hanging on the black tower, couldn't help but speak up.
"I'm still hanging here. Did you guys forget about me!"
