Chapter 199 Catherine Saves Someone
Emilia listened to Anthony's furious cursing coming from the study, her face full of mocking smiles.
She spat out her chewing gum and casually stuffed it into the study's keyhole, her gaze sweeping across the hallway and landing on Esme.
"Ms. Esme Hughes, what are you doing here? Are you eavesdropping on Mr. Anthony Hughes?"
Emilia let out a rare laugh.
"Idiot, seeing me alive and here, you're scared, aren't you? With that brain of yours, you actually tried to have someone kill me. Do you think you're that capable, or do you think those Vitality Pills of yours are all-powerful?"
Emilia had already gotten word that Anthony was being so nice to Michael and Esme because of the Vitality Pills.
Emilia, who hated studying, had spent three hours researching all the papers and materials about Vitality Pills.
Once she found out those things were poisonous, Emilia felt relieved.
"What are you talking about? I don't understand!"
"With your IQ, it's normal not to understand. Don't worry about it."
Anyway, she'd already sent all the relevant materials to Anthony's email. Once Anthony found out that everything he'd been taking lately was poison, Michael and Esme would have hell to pay.
Esme took a step back, looking at the composed Emilia before her with terror.
How could she know about the Vitality Pills?
"Oh, I forgot to tell you - Lloyd, that idiot father of yours, will be spending the rest of his life in prison. Surprised?"
Emilia hadn't expected that when George said he'd handle Lloyd, he meant leading him straight to a place where police were waiting. Lloyd's hands weren't clean, so he couldn't stand up to investigation.
Esme's expression panicked, and she collapsed to the floor.
If Lloyd went to prison, what would happen to her future?
She'd only been the Hughes family's daughter for a few days. No, she wasn't willing to accept this!
Meeting Esme's panicked face, Emilia let out a cold laugh and strode past her back to her own bedroom.
Emilia looked at the photo on her bedside table. The woman in the photo had a bright smile, with sword tattoos on her arms, looking arrogant and invincible.
As Emilia stared at it, tears began to fall. She clutched the photo album tightly, sobbing uncontrollably.
Heart-wrenching pain surged through Emilia's chest, overwhelming hatred washing over her. Emilia bit down hard to keep from crying too loudly.
"Mom, I'm coming to find you. I'll make everyone who killed you go to hell. I originally wanted to watch Anthony's despair when he found out he was going to die! When he killed you, did he think about how much pain I was in?"
"I prepared so many things, but I don't want to wait anymore."
"When we meet, will you praise me for doing well?"
"Mom, I miss you so much."
Half an hour later, The Hughes Manor burst into flames, fire licking and raging, spreading through every corner of Anthony's domain.
Anthony looked at the fire outside, feeling the terror of death!
How did he and Maurice fall asleep in the study while discussing serious matters?
Maurice's first action upon waking was to try to open the door, only to find it locked from the outside!
"Grandpa, why is our house on fire?"
Anthony quickly found the key and tried to open the door from inside, but after turning it for ages, there was no sign of it opening.
"Someone blocked the lock!"
Anthony kicked Maurice to the ground and grabbed the key himself, trying to open the study door!
"Who the hell has it in for the Hughes family!"
The fire quickly spread to the study. Anthony and Maurice both inhaled too much carbon dioxide and passed out on the spot.
Meanwhile, at Galactic Aurora Collective.
Venus was watching the internal surveillance of Galactic Aurora Collective, knowing the Hughes family might be in trouble tonight, and pulled up the Hughes family's surveillance feed.
"Emilia set fire to The Hughes Manor! That's impressive!"
Everyone at Galactic Aurora Collective was stunned.
Mercury gave a thumbs up: "I heard Emilia's mother was killed by Anthony when he seized power. He wanted Blade of Dusk, so he teamed up with Blade of Dusk's leader to kill Emilia's mother and grandfather."
"Emilia's mother was killed by Anthony. Emilia had just been born then, right?"
Mars nodded along: "Emilia's amazing, but throwing her own life away like this is pointless."
Catherine stood up, her gaze falling on Alexander sitting beside her.
"I need to go to The Hughes Manor. Need a driver - you available?"
"Of course."
She was the only one who could make him be a driver.
But Alexander was perfectly willing, wishing she'd call on him every time she needed a driver.
The Hughes Manor was engulfed in flames, especially striking in the night, the fire growing stronger.
At Emilia's room, Catherine grabbed the not-yet-burning window frame with one hand and jumped inside.
Emilia lay on the bed clutching a photo album, apparently unconscious, with a peaceful and satisfied smile on her face.
Catherine bent down, hoisted Emilia over her shoulder, and quickly jumped back out through the window. Just as they left, the bedroom beam collapsed with a crash, smashing onto Emilia's bed!
Catherine placed Emilia in the car and checked her pulse. "She's alive. Let's go to the hospital."
Passing several fire trucks, Catherine looked away.
As for the Hughes family, surviving would be their luck; if they didn't, it had nothing to do with them.
Hospital emergency room.
George, who had just gotten free and was about to eat something, saw Emilia being wheeled in on a gurney and nearly spat out his water!
"What happened? Catherine, why are you here?"
"George, save her first!"
On the way, Catherine had already done some basic first aid. Emilia's condition wasn't too serious.
George said nothing more, running toward the emergency room with the gurney while stuffing the bread in his hand into Catherine's arms.
A patient nearby who was still clutching his stomach saw the gurney that appeared out of nowhere take his spot and immediately got upset.
"My stomach still hurts! Why doesn't the doctor see me first? Why does the hospital allow cutting in line?"
Emergency resources were limited, so in urgent situations, priority went to the most serious patients.
"I've been waiting in line for two hours! You can't just let people cut in line, can you? I'm going to file a complaint!"
The nurse looked at them: "You just have gastritis - you can bear the pain a bit longer! But she's dying! The emergency room is for saving lives, don't you understand?"
The patients were about to say more when suddenly they saw another gurney being rushed in from outside, surrounded by a crowd of medical staff. Gavin was running frantically holding an IV bag, shouting at the top of his lungs.
"Make way! Don't block the path! Open the green channel! Notify the operating room!"
Gavin's gaze fell on Catherine, as if he'd seen his savior!
"Catherine, come with me. This patient's condition is extremely serious!"
