Chapter 29 Chapter 29.
Bella's POV.
Two hours later, I roved aimlessly in the castle looking for my Alpha, who said he would be back in a jiffy.
Where are you hiding sexy, I peeked around in the many numbered rooms to make an effort and locate Jacob, but he was nowhere in sight. Twirling my hair on my index finger, I wondered what was taking him so long to get me the simple, plate of food he promised.
Where did he go? I peeked into the hot steamy busy kitchen and everyone in the room was sweating profusely from the heat of the mega industrial stoves cooking up what seemed to be a great feast for hundreds of people.
Did Jacob tell them to prepare all this food for me? Besides, I'm not that hungry to finish all that! Suddenly my stomach grumbled loudly like it had a brain of its own attempting me to fix myself a plate.
Oh, be quiet.
I quickly glanced around to see if anyone was paying attention to my stomach lamenting for food...seconds later it made the same loud noise, and I had it with the complaints. I wrapped my arms tightly across my stomach while rolling my eyes.
Shhh, I promise to feed you soon. My cheeks reddened with embarrassment. Thank goodness no one else heard the dreadful sounds…I heaved a sigh of relief.
"Hey you, get the marinated steaks out of the freezer and start roasting them." A person wearing a long white hat like the main chef yelled out loud exposing his vibrating uvula. The sweaty man looked exhausted but he still commanded respect from the rest of his assistants.
My wolf chuckled internally as I maintained a stern poise on my face…I still don't understand why but she found strange things funny randomly and I sometimes found it very annoying, hence I just shunned her.
For that, I will not make effort to feed you little pup. Why would you laugh at the hardworking man? At least he commanded respect other than ridicule from the pack.
But where is this food going? I darted at how busy and industrious everyone in the room was, forgetting that I was looking for Alpha Jacob.
From broiling, grilling, sauteing, simmering, and poaching, everyone in the room did not even give attention to me standing cluelessly by the entrance.
The mouthwatering food looked so inviting to the eye as my mouth began to drip saliva.
"Delicious..." A manly voice spoke in my ear from behind causing me to stutter out of a trance, while my heart skipped a beat as I jerked up clasping my chest.
"What?" I shivered while flickering my eyes rapidly and instantly wiped out the excess saliva trickling down my chin.
I veered around only to meet Gamma Nick holding a big bouquet of assorted flowers. Dressed in a slim fitted grey suit with shiny black shoes, slicked back blonde highlighted hair with a gold necklace hanging loosely with a minimum keychain hooked to it, he looked too dapper for a house manager.
"I meant the food, it looks delicious, chef Thomas is the best of the best chefs in the whole village." He let out a naughty grin on his face which suggested otherwise. He darted at my short pajama shorts desirably.
The midnight pack was not short of handsome men in the village, but what I did not seem to understand is why every girl came across as desperate for the Alpha's attention… maybe it was for the title of Luna?? Ah, who cared anyway, besides the title was already bestowed on me. I chuckled merrily.
"If you don't mind me asking, what is funny?" He darted at me quizzically.
"It's nothing." I composed myself gracefully.
If I was not mistaken, Gamma Nick was flirtatious when we were just the two of us, but I did not put much attention to it.
"Hey Nick,…are we having a function today?" I exhaled silently to try to calm myself.
"Don't tell me you do not know what is happening today?" He looked at me with a smirk. He readjusted the flowers in his hands to get a better hold of them.
What is he talking about? I wandered because ever since I came to the pack, I never knew what was going on even if I was there Luna, I was like a headless chicken roaming the streets aimlessly in the dark.
"I'm sorry but I have no idea," I answered back.
"Then it's a surprise from Alpha," he said merrily. Like I was supposed to be happy about his announcement.
I was neither marked nor initiated into the pack by Alpha Jacob, only the title of Luna was given to me before the elders…but that was not good enough, I wanted to be paraded in front of the pack and be publicly marked or initiated. Whichever was fine with me so long it was done publicly.
Because once that's done, all the members of the pack will acknowledge me and respect me by fire by force.
Besides, that was the utmost law of the land to initiate the Luna of any pack publicly if she was from a different pack.
"come on, Nick, please give me just one hint." I let out my pitiful puppy begging eyes to entice him to tell me what the feast was all about.
