Maybe it was all the magic in the area, or something about fae blood. Alex stood in the clearing seeing dead fae all over the ground. They all had the black veins all over their skin. Alex couldn't believe what he was seeing. Hem was just as shocked to see the fae dead on the ground. Alex stepped over several bodies, two he could see had died days ago. Before he had made the run here the frist time. It was strange to see the fae dead like this. When they got to the barrier Alex could see that the barrier wasn't close to being sealed. Hem walked over to the barier putting a hand to it. In a moment it flashed bright then died down again. Hem was breathing heavy as he pulled his hand away.
"That barrier isn't holding very well. I have a feeling that it isn't closed on the other side. This side is partly sealed, but not fully. It is why there is so much magic here." Hem explained as he moved a few steps away from the barrier. "If we go through it I worry we will be wounded badly."
"Well how else can we get a message to Crystal?" Alex asked not wanting to put Hem as risk.
"I can send it through with magic. It should only take a few hours to get to her, that is our time not there's." Hem explained as he looked from Alex to the clearing. "We have to burn these bodies."
Alex nodded as he wrote out a quick message for Crystal. Letting her know what he had found and how he had saved several Fae on this side of the barrier. The note also told her that the barrier was in bad shape and needed to e mended. Once that was done he handed it to Hem to send through. When the letter vanished into the fae realm they got to work gathering the bodies to burn. They couldn't let them sit out and rot. Humans would find them and wonder what the hell they where. So they put them together and Hem set the fire. It was a controled fire so it didn't get out of hand and no one would really notice what they where doing. Alex sighed then frowned at the clearing. It was almost fully covered in fae flowers, grass and animals.
"This is bad." Alex told Hem as he looked around the clearing.
"Very, if the magic keeps leaking like this it will spread. Thankfully the human would can hold it at bay. It will spread out but not much further than it already has. Mind you the animals will cross that line so will some of the plants." Hem kept his eyes on the fire.
"There is nothing we can do about it either." Alex sighed beacuse that barrier wasn't going to be fixed any time soon. It would take a shit ton of magic to fix it.
"It is possible that they can seal the barrier, but that would also cut off the fae from their homes. Granted most of the ones here have lived her long enough that it is home now. We do normally go back to recharge and see family from time to time." Hem explained as the fire died down.
"Let us hope that Crystal gets the letter and gets her ass over here." Alex told him with a sigh.
They finished with the bodies letting the wind blow the ashes around the clearing. They sat waiting for something from Crystal or someone from the other side of the barrier. Hours pasted with nothing from that side. If they stayed much longer Alex would have to find shade to hide from the sun. Maybe she didn't get the letter again? Somethng didn't seem right to Alex but he couldn't figure out what. The battle that happened here not long ago hadn't be that bad, but he didn't know how much they had fought on the other side of the barrier. He looked from Hem to the barrier then to the horizen.
"I hope we hear something soon." Alex told Hem as he looked at the flowers.
"Should hear something soon, it has been longer than I expected." Hem looked at the barrier waiting and hoping.
Another two hours went by making it almost two in the morning. Alex didn't think that anyone would come to the barrier tonight. It seemed a little strange that no one had answered the letter. Had Crystal been so wounded that she passed? He sure the hell hoped not. He needed tok now that she was happy in that life on that side. Alex stood pacing in front of the barrier hoping that Crystal would appear. When the barrier did finally open it wasn't Crystal that stood there. It was the pup, looking like she had been beaten. Alex rushed to her catching her as fell out of the barrier into the human world. Her skin was covered in black, the sweet was pouring off her body. Hem jumped up to help her.
"Find the flowers." Alex yelled as hem went hunting.
A few moment later Hem appeared with three of the rain flowers. Slowly he dripped it into her mouth. Each drop made her scream and contort as it cleared the black from her skin. Alex held her as the flower helped to heal her. After three flours she was healed enough to speak to them. Finally she lay still in his arms. Alex worried that she had died, but when she gasped for air he smiled. She would live another day.
"How?" she asked when her eyes opened.
"It was the rain flower that came the fae area. We are lucky that they are here to help. Did Crystal get the message?" Alex finally told her as he helped her to sit up.
"Yes she did they have been getting as many of the flowers as they can get. She is alright and helping those that are wounded. Several have already passed so no help there. The other side that started it all have died from there own posion." She told Alex with a sigh. "I am greatful that you helped me. The Wolf is in bad shape, we tried to find something that would help but the book we needed is missing."
"I do believe I have that book." Alex told her with a chuckle. "Crystal gave me a very old book so long ago I can't recall when it was. It is how I found out about the flower."
"Well that is good at least we know who to kill." She laughed as she spoke. "Not that she would even think about it."
"I am glad I had it. Hem almost died but with the book I was able to save him." Alex told her with a smile "How are you feeling?"
"Better, but it will take a little while for me to get it all back. Maybe we should go to your house. There is much I have to tell you." She stood wobbled but stayed on her feet.
