Upset Pup
Alex had never tried to track a fae. They don't leave as much scent as other creatures. Hem had been a big help on this case. They stood in the wooded area tracking a scent, but when they found the little nest or bed, however you would call it. Alex bent to look about the area, it was a clearing that once had a cabin in it. The Wolf had been going around the area trying to find her scent again. Trouble was she was hiding it, or doing something that made it seem like she wasn't here. Hem stood turning toward the main road that was only ten feet or so from the area. As they walked back out Alex could have sworn he saw someone standing by the road looking into the clearing. When he stopped to turn that way the person was gone. It was a blink of the eye, so he knew that it had to be the girl.
"She was here." Alex spoke to Hem as they stood looking toward the mall.
"Recent as well, she is watching us." Hem told him as he looked around then toward the mall.
"Fast as well, I swear I saw her just a moment ago. I blinked and she was gone." Alex didn't thik for a moment that she wanted to go back with The Wolf.
"She is moving very fast." The Wolf spoke from beside them. "Seems she isn't happy that I have come to bring her back."
"If you asked me, I would say she doesn't want to go back." Alex turned toward The Wolf. "Do all of them act like this?"
"They like it here because they can do what they want. No one is there to tell them that they have to hold back. They don't understand that they can kill in a moment. She is young and hasn't learn full control." The Wolf told them with a huff.
They stood looking around again, as Alex looked toward the mall again he was sure she was standing there. He didn't move for a moment, just watched her. She didn't look happy but at the same time a wicked smile spread on her face. To some it would have turned their blood cold. That smile told him that she really didn't care either way what they would do. Inch by inch Alex toward her. As long as he didn't move quickly she didn't seem to care that he was there. So he got within arms reach to her, but stopped before holding his hand out to her.
"Why are you here?" Alex whispered to her know she would hear him.
"Fun." Was the only word she spoke to him.
"They want you home." His words didn't even make her flinch.
"I know, but I like it here." she told him looking right at him.
"They are worried you will give yourself away. Humans don't know about the Fae." Alex explained tring not to move closer to her.
"Why should I care?" She almost screamed at him. "They want to hold me in cages. No fun at all, I want to be free."
Alex could understand that, but he feared she would harm someone. It wasn't like he could just let her ago. They had to be sure that she didn't harm any humans. Maybe they could come to a deal. The moment he thought it he saw The Wolf coming up behind her. Alex didn't let it show that he was there, but she turned to look at him. In that moment I saw her snarl at him leaping up and over him. She didn't try to harm him just took off. Alex glared at The Wolf, he had gotten so close.
"Why didn't you catch her?" The wolf growled out at him.
"Let me see, One she moves to fast. Two she is on high alert because she knows we want to catch her. Three she doesn't want to go back because she believes she is going to be put in a cage." Alex explained at he glared at The Wolf.
"She isn't wrong." The Wolf told them. "It is the only way to learn to cage the power running in her veins. It isn't meant to be cruel, the more she uses the magic the stronger she will become. That power can and will control her. It will contourt her into a monster that others can't handle. Even in the Fae she would have to deal with the power."
"Hmm I wounder if I would get her to make a deal." Alex thought it over for a few moments as The Wolf growled at him.
"Alex, working with the fae is tricky." Hem spoke up from beisde Alex.
"I know that for sure. The thing is she wants the freedom. To be young and have fun. Maybe the Queen could make an area for her. So she could be taken care of instead of feeling like a trapped animal." Alex was thinking out loud.
"Might have to ask her that one." The Wolf told him thinking it over.
"She is wild and I can't blame her for wanting to feel some freedom." Alex knew what it was like to feel caged.
"I can go back and ask her. I can't promise anything." The Wolf told him as he turned leaving the clearing.
Alex looked over at Hem and could see that he wasn't happy with the idea, but it was better than letting the poor girl be put in a metal cage. As they turned to leave the clearing Alex caught site of her again. He stopped to look over at her.
"Do you really want to help me?" She asked not moving closer or further away.
"All I can do is have him ask. It isn't right to cage people up because they have to much power. The fact is that you didn't ask for the power, nor did you want to harm others. You are just doing what feels right." Alex looked at her then back to Hem.
"Can we ask that you stay here until The Wolf comes back? I worry that you might harm a human without knowing you are doing it. I know the power you carry is wanting freedom, but you are smart enough to know that you might harm someone." Hem told her as he stood next to Alex.
"I will get bored." She stomped her foot putting her hands on her hips.
Alex was glad he had thought it bring a tablet with him. He pulled it out of the small bag he had been carring. When he turned it on the light from the screen brightened the area. She took several steps toward him wanting to see what he had. Instead of handing it to her he turned toward the woods. Walking into he moved toward the large clearing they had been in early in the day. He knew she followed him because she had gotten close enough for him to catch her scent.
"If you can stay here you can play on this." Alex handed her the tablet.
