Welcomed to the fae
Welcomed to the fae
Days went into week then into months with it turning into a year with Dorcas living in the human world with Alex. He didn't see what Crystal had meant by her bloodlust or anger issues. She was just a normal child for the most part. Most of the time, she didn't drink blood, mostly eating normal foods. When he had brought her to the house that night, Misha had been a little stand-offish with her. Which upset Dorcas, but she didn't seem to throw a fit about it. It had taken them a little while to warm to each other. Now it was like she was her daughter as well. Alex didn't understand how she had come into the world. He just knew that it was strange to think of it without her in it. They had given her a bedroom that she was able to decorate the way she wanted. What shocked Alex was she used magic to do it instead of the normal human way. He would guess if you could use the magic, why not. Hem hadn't said anything about it, but he did seem worried. Alex had suggested they do some of the human things like the bed, and clothes. Dorcas had loved going to the mall. The first time she had used magic, and they had to rush out of the mall. She didn't understand that she couldn't use the magic around humans. It had taken almost a month for her to understand that it would cause issues if they saw her. The only time she used the magic now was when they were at home or by the clinic.
"It seems strange that she had been with us for a year." Misha looked to Alex.
"I agree, she had changed our lives for the better. I think at least." Alex pulled Misha close.
"I never thought I would want a child, but she is my daughter. I would die for her in a heart beat." Misha kissed Alex softly then pulled back.
"She looks at you as a mother, I think." Alex kissed her back, trailing down her neck. "The crazy thing is she knows Crystal is her mother."
"Dorcas is a very smart little girl." Misha pulled away from Alex.
It went on like this for years, they watched as Dorcas grew into a wonderful young woman. When she hit eighteen, however, she wanted to go back to Crystal to spend time with her. She had understood why she had been sent to the human world. The fact was that she loved it here, but she felt like she was missing a large part of herself. Dorcas didn't have to drink blood to stay alive, which seemed strange since she was half vampire. Or that is what her mother told her. Blood turned her stomach, and she didn't want to hurt people. So on her birthday she had asked to go back. Alex had been heartbroken that she wanted to leave. He did however give his blessing, as did Misha. They always treated her like she was a treasure, and she would never forget that. Dorcas wanted to confront her birth mother on why she had lied. At the age of ten, she had figured out that Alex wasn't her father, it just didn't add up. She never told him that however because she loved him like a father. Today though, she asked Hem to send her back to the fae.
"Dorcas I don't think you should do this." Hem told her that morning after giving her a beautiful necklace for her birthday.
"I have to talk to mother about the lies." Dorcas had told him as she sat in the clinic with him.
"You want to talk to her but not Alex." Hem looked a bit confused.
"Alex is my dad but not my father." Dorcas explained. "Have you not noticed that I don't drink blood?"
"We all noticed that at the age of ten you threw it right back up. So I am rather sure that he knows you aren't his biological child. That doesn't mean he doesn't love you." Hem explained with a sigh.
"I don't want to upset him. He knows I want to go see mother because I feel strange in this world. It didn't really start till two years ago. It feels like I am not connected to the land or something. I know it has to do with my fae blood." Dorcas explained what she had been feeling.
"If you really want to do this, I think you should take someone with you. To help you find your way to the castle. One of the flower fae would be happy to go with you." Hem waved a hand to the ladies in the room.
"I will go with you" A woman with greenish brown hair spoke up.
"I don't need a babysitter." Dorcas told them but in her heart she was happy that someone would come with her.
"I'm not a babysitter, I am a warrior that will protect you on the trip. Plus I miss my family." The woman told her with a glare.
"Fine." Dorcas told her with a half smile.
That evening, they all gathered to see her off. Dorcas felt like her heart was going to break when Alex handed her a letter and a ring. The ring she had seen many times over the years. It had been her mother's for well over two hundred years. When he handed it to her, she looked confused. It was when he explained that the ring had a protection spell on it that she understood. Dorcas had magic that she would use to protect herself, but he wanted peace of mine. Dorcas gave them all hugs when she turned to enter the portal, she was shocked to see her mother standing there.
"You sent her a message, didn't you?" Dorcas asked Alex.
"Yes, I knew it was coming for years. I dreaded that you would want to go back, but I had to be sure that you would be safe." Alex hugged her then left the area. He couldn't watch her leave.
Dorcas watched as he walked to the house. She felt the tears streaming down her face as she walked into the portal to stand next to her mother. They looked so much alike it was shocked. The moment her feet touched the ground, she felt the power rush through her. The world seemed to shiver at the taste of her power.
"Welcome home." Crystal told her with a bright smile. "You have been missed."
"Then why did you send me away?" Dorcas snapped at her as they turned, letting the portal close.
