Chapter 66 Chapter 66
"Weeks went by so fast I barely noticed time slipping through my fingers. Every morning started the same: I’d wake up with Ayla grumbling in her crib, walk downstairs to the smell of strong coffee drifting from the kitchen, and find Dominic with his sleeves rolled up, cooking something good. But now, besides the routine, there was one thing that made everything around me feel electric:
the wedding was getting close.
I had started working at Dominic’s family hotel. It was huge inside, so luxurious I still got impressed even after days walking back and forth through the hallways. The crystal chandeliers, the soft carpet, the faint perfume that always hung in the air… it all made me feel dizzy, like I had stepped into another life — a life I never imagined having.
And Isa… well, Isa seemed born for this.
"Chloe, look at this," she said, practically dragging me by the wrist to the office desk where she had spread magazines, fabric samples, flower photos, and three tablets open on different pages. "This is the venue I told you about! It’s HUGE. You’re gonna freak out."
She spun the screen toward me with enough force to scare me. I leaned a bit closer, blinking fast while trying to keep up with the avalanche of information she was unloading.
"Look at this lighting! And the floor? My God, this floor!" Isa tapped her fingers rapidly on the table, like she was about to explode. "This will look gorgeous with a white-petal aisle, trust me."
I laughed quietly.
"Isa, relax. It’s just… a small wedding."
She widened her eyes like I had just committed a crime against humanity.
"Small for you, maybe! But for me, Chloe… this is my best friend’s wedding, so obviously I’m going full war mode."
"War mode?" I raised a brow.
"Yes." She picked up the tablet, lifting her chin dramatically. "Mode ‘I will destroy anything that threatens this wedding.’ Including you, if you keep saying you want everything simple."
I choked on a laugh, covering my mouth.
Dominic walked into the hotel office, looked at the table full of stuff, and raised an eyebrow.
"Has she already started planning the military invasion?" he asked, voice low, a smirk forming.
Isa snapped her head toward him so fast she almost dropped the tablet.
"YOU!" she pointed at him. "You COULD have told me it would be next month!"
"I did tell you." Dominic shrugged. "You just read half my messages."
"I told you I read the most important part."
He walked over to me, placing a hand on my waist and pulling me gently closer.
"Are you okay?" he murmured in my ear, his warm breath sending a shiver down my skin.
I nodded, resting my hand on his chest.
"Isa is just… excited."
Isa scoffed behind us.
"Excited? I’m possessed. And you two will THANK me later."
Dominic looked at her with that neutral expression, though the raised eyebrow betrayed his amusement.
"I’m sure it’ll be perfect."
"It will," Isa replied, already stacking the magazines into a pile tall enough to intimidate me. "Because I’m in charge of everything. You two just show up up front and say ‘I do.’ The rest is mine."
"You’re going to be the most beautiful bride in the world, Chloe," she added softly, with such sincere excitement it made me smile. "I promise."
