Chapter 43
The party started clearing out, but we stayed and waited for the blood for the vampires. I just hope they don’t wake up before it gets here.
“Ryker, why were they focused on me and Dawson?”
“I was wondering the same thing. There were a ton of people here. If it was normal blood lust, they would have attacked anyone here, but they didn’t. They went straight to you two.”
I nodded, and a guy finally walked in with a cart full of blood.
“We need to hold them down while we get the first couple of quarts in them.” I looked up at Ryker as him and Dawson looked around for a way to tie them down.
One of the frat brothers brought out a rope, but we didn’t have anything strong enough to tie them to. Jacie ended up doing a spell that paralyzed them from the neck down, but the spell wouldn’t last long.
I popped open the blood bags and the boys started shaking them to wake them up. As soon as their bright red eyes popped open, Isaac and I started pouring the blood into their mouths.
As fast as their drinking, I can tell they’ve been starved. How did this even happen here? There’s plenty of blood for all the vamps on campus.
After we poured four bags in each of their mouths, the redness in their eyes started receding, and I could tell they were coming out of their haze.
One of them started moving his head and looking around, “what happened?”
“That’s what we would like to know. You tried to attack us. If we release the spell on you, are you going to be nice?”
I stared down at them, waiting to see if they were fully through their lust.
Both of them nodded as they let out a small groan.
“You deserve the headache. These guys didn’t have a choice. It was either knock you out or kill you.”
The vamp on the left chuckled, “I guess I should thank you for knocking us out then.”
“What are your names?”
“I’m Vince, and this is Dante.”
I nodded, “Why haven’t you eaten? There’s plenty of blood on campus.”
The spell wore off and they both sat up and sipped another bag of blood as we talked. I have to admit, now that their color and eyes are back to normal, both vamps are gorgeous. A little skinnier than I like, but still gorgeous.
Vince has short brown hair. His eyes are so dark they are almost black. He has weird tattoos on both of his forearms that I’m sure there is a story behind.
Dante is a little more muscular than Vince. His black hair is long enough to tuck it behind his ear, but it doesn’t reach his shoulders. He’s eyes are green, but they don’t have the bright piecing effect that Creeds green eyes do. I can tell he’s a lady’s man. He confirmed my thoughts when he smiled, and I saw his perfect smile and the cutest dimples.
I get the feeling that Vince is a comedian and Dante is more calm and collected.
“We were locked up. They refused to give us blood.” Vince said as he ran his hand over his head.
I crossed my arms, “Why were you locked up, and who did this to you?”
They looked at each other before Dante answered. “We don’t know. We went to the dining hall last week. We were sitting outside at one of the tables and there were a couple of girls hitting on us. We played right into it.” Dante shook his head.
“They were all over us and asking us to take them back to our room with us. The next thing I knew, I woke up chained to the floor in a dark room. I was on one side and Vince was on the other. We never saw the girls again.”
Vince jumped in, “There was one girl that came in to check on us, but she wore a mask that covered her full head. We tried to warn her what would happen if we didn’t get blood, but she laughed. She didn’t care, she gave us a damn cookie instead. She wouldn’t even tell us why they took us.”
I nodded and looked around at the boys. “Something doesn’t add up.” I linked to all three of them.
Ezra linked back, “have you or Dawson pissed anyone off lately?”
“Not that I know of.”
I looked back over at Vince and Dante, “Why were you only trying to attack me and Dawson?”
“I don’t know,” Vince looked down at the ground and shook his head.
“You’re lying.”
“No, I’m not lying, I'm just confused.” He looked at Dante, and I could tell they were both confused.
Vince swallowed hard before looking back over at me. “The words kill the wolf, kill the bear, kept repeating in my head. You were all we could see, and your scents were all we could smell when we walked in.”
Dante lifted his head and nodded his agreement.
“You were spelled,” Drake said.
I looked at the boys. “What the hell,” I linked them.
“Let’s get out of here. You’re coming to our room, Bella.”
I nodded. Who would want to kill me and Dawson?
Vince and Dante both apologized to us before they left to go back to their room. I know they didn’t mean any harm, and it wasn’t their fault. Someone did this to them, but who?
The walk back to the boy’s room was quiet. All of us needed a couple of minutes to process everything.
I settled into a spot on the couch in between Dawson and Jacie as the boys pulled up chairs from the table.
“Why would somebody want to kill us?” I looked at Dawson.
“I don’t know. I was wondering the same thing. I can’t think of any reason somebody would be after me. Especially now that Creed is gone.”
“Wait Jacie, Vince and Dante were spelled. Can you tell which coven the magic was from, like Reese can?”
She scrunched her eyebrows and looked at me, “only a priest, priestess and their kin can do that. What coven is Reese from?”
“I don’t know. He never told me the name of it, but I know it’s next to Rowen’s pack.”
Jacie nodded but didn’t say anything.
“Who else knew about your magic before tonight?” Drake asked.
“Just the people that you already knew about, and Reese.”
“Are you sure you can trust Reese?”
“Yah, he’s my friend. He’s never giving me a reason not to trust him.”
Drake nodded, “well you had to make an enemy somewhere.”
“The only person besides my mate that I made mad was Isaac, but he helped tonight. He’s clearly not upset anymore, and he’s not a witch.”
Ryker ran his hand through his hair. I don’t want you alone until we get home. Fighting things out with your mates is one thing, but now someone is clearly trying to kill you. How many finals do you have?”
I nodded, “I only have three left. I’ll be ready to leave on Tuesday morning.”
Ryker nodded, “Tuesday it is then.”
