mystery behind Sara
mystery behind Sara
Dominic’s P.O.V. (Continued)
“This is what we got, Mr. Whitemore, and I assure you that it’s true.” She replied to me calmly, but I wasn’t calm now.
I stared at my reflection in the mirror, trying to figure out what would have gone wrong, and Sara didn’t return after they paid the ransom.
“I am still investigating all possible reasons for her absence for a whole month, Mr. Whitemore.” Emily spoke to me in the same tone when I didn’t speak for a few seconds.
“Like?” I asked her while straightening up my back. I wanted to assure myself that I was thinking the same thing.
“Like if she was hospitalized during that period. After all, she was with those kidnappers for three days, and she was just a pampered child.” She replied to me instantly.
“Or what if they killed her and their father found her replacement for some reason?” I speculated and heard her sucking in a breath.
“I…. I also thought about this possibility, but Ms. Sand and Mr. Michael Sand have very similar facial features. So….. so, I removed this possibility.” She replied to me in a shaky breath this time.
“Try to find out any facial reconstruction of a child around that time, Emily. The child must be from a poor family or an orphan.” I instructed her firmly.
“Wh… what if she is an illegitimate child?” She spoke hesitantly, but my eyes narrowed immediately.
“Mr. Michael Sand was old enough at that time to refuse to let anyone else take his sister’s place. Their mother died because of the complication during Sara’s birth, and the whole world knows that he always treated her like a precious gem.” She added it in the same tone.
“Investigate all the possibilities that come to your mind, Emily. I trust your instincts, but don’t let anyone find anything about your investigation. If you feel exposed at any time, stop investigating immediately, okay?” I instructed her firmly.
Given Michael’s cunning and suspicious nature, I didn’t want to put Emily’s life in danger at all.
“I will try my best, Mr. Whitemore.” She replied to me firmly this time.
I hung up the call and closed my eyes.
I put my phone on the counter and took a deep breath.
Michael’s interest in Violet is clear to me. I know that Violet also knows, but she isn’t bothered by that.
For her, if she isn’t interested in anyone, their interest in her doesn’t matter to her.
This is just a naïve thought because this world is not that simple.
Especially people like Michael. They can go to any extent to get what they want, and the interest and willingness of other parties don’t matter to them that much.
Sara was Violet’s best friend. We had a good relationship, and suddenly she started sowing discord between me and Violet in a very convincing way.
What if she wasn’t the one who did that?
What if Michael used her as a pawn to split me and Violet?
Sara was intelligent, but now, after thinking in this direction, I felt that everything that she did back then to make Violet leave me was so convincing and foolproof that it couldn’t be her handiwork.
She wasn’t that cunning or meticulous in her schemes.
“Michael Sand. You played your cards so well. I truly admire you.” I muttered in my heart and slowly opened my eyes.
I was about to move towards the shower cubicle when my phone chimed in. I stopped and turned on the phone again.
I narrowed my eyes when I saw an email received from Hawthorne’s Developers.
Victoria’s P.O.V.
I opened the door of my apartment and felt a sharp prick in my chest when the darkness of the apartment welcomed me.
Gordon didn’t come back tonight either. Just a month of dating, and he is already drifting apart from me.
I entered the apartment and locked the door behind me.
I changed my shoes without switching on the light and put on my pair of house slippers. I walked to the living room and slumped on the big couch after putting my handbag and laptop bag on the center table.
I don’t know why, but this darkness and silence made my eyes teary.
I envied Violet.
She is also an orphan like me. Life played with her cruelly, and yet she had Natasha with her to make her go on with life and kept her motivated to live all the time.
Everyone said that I am a strong woman, but I know that I am not.
I just put on a façade of a strong woman to deceive everyone around me, but I can’t lie to myself.
Just like others, I also want to live a normal life with a loving boyfriend or husband. I also want to be sheltered by their love and care.
But why is it so hard for God to bless me with love and care from someone?
Gordon pursued me for more than two years, and when I finally decided to give us a chance, my hopes shattered so quickly.
A soft sob escaped from my lips. I closed my eyes and let the tears roll down from the corners.
There was no one around me to ask me why I am crying or why I am heartbroken.
It had been five days since we talked.
No, we argued, and he stormed out of the apartment.
I sent him a few messages in the beginning but didn’t get any response from him.
Why did I agree to give myself a chance to find happiness?
Violet is not just my friend but also an anchor of my life.
With her and Natasha, I didn’t need anyone to love me.
They love me like family.
Violet treats me like her sister.
Two orphans formed a family together, and I am truly happy for her that she found her home with Dominic again.
This is normal. All the regular family members marry at one point, forming new families, but they don’t forget their original families.
Violet and Natasha didn’t forget me either. I am still an important part of their lives, and I know that it’s not going to change at any time soon.
Maybe in the future, but not for now.
Violet is lucky, but I am not.
I had never been. That’s why Gordon dumped me within a month.
I shouldn't have dreamed about having someone to love me, to.... to build up a love life for myself....... to.... to have a family on my own.
A loud sob escaped my lips this time.
I am nothing but an idiot who believed in fairytales.
"What are you doing in darkness?" I shot up and snapped my head in the direction of the voice.
The light flooded the living room, and my eyes widened in shock when I saw Gordon rubbing his eyes while looking at me.
"G...ordon." I called him in a daze, feeling as if my emotions were tricking me.
"Why are you crying?" He asked me worriedly while coming towards me.
