Michael's involvement

Michael's involvement
Dominic’s P.O.V. (Continued)

“You already have so much work to take care of, Dom, and I can’t just run away like this. I am not someone who gets scared of trouble. I promise that I will not let anything affect me or our child. Even if I love facing trouble on the professional front, there is no way that I will put my child’s life in danger for any reason.” She replied to me with an assured smile.

“Still, thanks for supporting me, Dom.” She added while widening her smile. I slowly leaned down and pecked her lips. She kissed me back and beamed while showing her pearly teeth when I moved up.
“No need to thank me, my love. My whole existence is only for you and our children.” I replied to her dotingly.
She laughed and then moved her body in my direction, rubbing her nose on my belly while hugging my waist. “Don’t move so much.” I still scolded her out of concern but wrapped my hand around her torso to keep her at the same place.
“Natalie said that his brother kicked her. What happened?” I asked her, trying to keep her mind calm and not to think about the matter with Amber Hawthorne.
Violet is optimistic by nature, but anything that hurt her emotionally always bothered her for some time.
She pressed her nose into my stomach. “I was hungry and it was my stomach that flipped because of hunger. She asked worriedly. So, I told her that it’s her brother.” She answered in a muffled voice, but I could feel her embarrassment in her voice.
I laughed and she bit my stomach. I rubbed her back and took a deep breath. The exhaustion was now gone, and it felt good to spend some time like this with her.
“Thanks for this office room, Dom. You don’t know how bored I was when I was in the hospital. Having nothing to do is the most torturous thing in this world.” She spoke to me in the same muffled tone, but I could tell that she was slipping into slumber.
“That’s why I converted this study in your office room, love. This way, you don’t need to go to the office and you can work while following the doctor’s instructions.” I replied to her and slowly cradled the back of her head.
“Shall I take you to the bedroom?” I asked her in a low voice, pulling her body up.
“Yeah. I am feeling sleepy. I guess I can have a nap before dinner.” She replied in a sleepy tone. I kissed her temple, pressing her head on my chest. I slipped my other hand under her thighs and lifted her up.
I stood up at the same time and walked towards the door.
A nurse stopped abruptly in her tracks when I was about to exit the room. She had a tray in her hands. She was the same nurse who met me earlier.
“She needs to drink this soup before having a nap, Mr. Whitemore.” She told me hurriedly. There was a bowl with hot soup on that tree.
“Follow me.” I instructed her and resumed walking towards the bedroom.
“Daisy?” Violet murmured in a sleepy tone.
“Yes, Mrs. Whitemore. It’s me.” The nurse answered her. She was now walking behind me.
“She is sleepy. Can’t she have this soup after some time?” I asked Daisy while entering the room.
“She is restricted from having a full belly meal, Mr. Whitemore. So, she needs to eat or drink something nutritional for both her and her baby.” Daisy explained to me calmly.
I nodded in understanding but furrowed my brows when I heard loud voice coming from the room. I forgot that Natasha was still in the room, watching TV.
Violet stirred in my embrace.
“Go and lowered the volume. Tell my daughter that mom has fallen asleep and I am taking her inside.” I instructed Daisy calmly while stopping outside the room, taking a few steps back so that the noise wouldn’t wake up Violet.
“Yes, Mr. Whitemore.” She replied before walking inside the room hurriedly. “Hey, baby. Please lower the volume. Your mom has fallen asleep and your Dad is bringing her here.” I heard Daisy explaining the situation to Natasha in a gentle voice.
“Okay. Can you turn off the TV? Mom can’t sleep even with the slightest noise.” Natasha asked sweetly. The door was open. So, I could hear their voices.
“You are such a thoughtful daughter. Your mom is lucky to have you.” Daisy praised Natasha teasingly.
I smiled proudly while listening to them.
I walked inside the room when Daisy shut off the TV. I saw Natasha sitting at one side of the bed, looking in the door’s direction with an innocent and concerned gaze.
“Let’s go, baby. They have saved a bowl of soup for you too.” Daisy urged Natasha in a hushed tone while going in her direction.
I put Violet on the bed and tucked her inside the sheet.
Natasha held Daisy’s hand and slowly got off the bed.
“She is in deep sleep now. I will feed her after half an hour.” I told Daisy when I noticed that she was still standing at the other end of the bed.
“Okay, Mr. Whitemore. I will notify Dr. Shaw.” She replied to me politely and then went out of the room with Natasha.
I sat down beside Violet and slowly moved all the hair from her face to behind her ear. She stirred her head a little but didn’t wake up.
I was about to stand up when my phone buzzed in my pocket. I stood up immediately and took out the phone while looking at Violet cautiously.
To my relief, she was still sleeping. I took the call while walking towards the bathroom to freshen up.
“What is it?” I asked Emily after closing the door of the bathroom behind me.
“We got some clues about Ms. Sara Sands’ disappearance, Mr. Whitemore. She was taken away by a criminal organization. It…. It was Mr. Michael Sands who hired those people.” She replied to me in a firm voice, but I stopped in my tracks, shocked by what she said.
I resumed after a few seconds, recovering from my shock immediately because I already had a hunch about Michael's involvement in Sara's disappearance.
“One more thing, Mr. Whitemore.” She added it hurriedly while I stared at my reflection in the mirror with a blank gaze, listening to her.
“While investigating the Sand family, I found out that there was a kidnapping incident when Ms. Sand was only two years old. She was brought back to the family after a month.” She added it further, but I narrowed my eyes.
“The kidnappers demanded 50 million as ransom, and Mr. Daniel Sand paid the ransom in full within the three days of kidnapping.”
“And yet she came back after a month?” I asked her sarcastically while raising my brow in disdain, putting my hand at the edge of the sink, and leaning forward.
