96.2- Condition
96.2- Condition
She took me to where we left and I saw Roy emitting a dark aura and filled with extensive fury. My lips formed a thin line as I could feel the tension present in the air. There was a brief pause between them and Mr. Layne said again,
"She just wants your money. She will leave you just like your mother did when we went bankrupt but your emotional self cannot realize this fact! Your Mother left you when we had nothing and so will see!"
My eyes widened when I heard it. I turned to look at Mrs Layne who kept looking down in shame.
“It wasn’t after marriage but after this. Right?” I asked, closing my arms at my chest. “I was so wrong. Money's not everything.” She said in a croaked voice. “Wow. And to think these boys worship you.” I chuckled dryly to myself.
“Please don’t be like me.” She whispered.
My mouth gaped but I knew saying anything to her will ruin my relationship with Roy as he considered this woman his everything.
I couldn’t do anything to be on her unfavored terms.
"But, Mama came back because she loved us!" Roy argued, not believing what his Mother confessed.
"No. But because I got my money back and you have to understand, no one stays in your life. Why do you have to be so sensitive, Roy? Understand, this woman is a gold-digger." Mr. Layne said.
I was left flabbergast, mouth gaping to act surprised. The way the look of penitence flashed in Mrs Layne's eyes was enough for me to know that she is at fault but who was I to judge?
Well of course, everyone basically judges everyone so…
Their barely alive marriage was not my concern.
"Everyone makes promises like these but in the end, they all will leave you." Mr. Layne said.
"Not everyone is the same, Mr. Layne. Neither Roy is like you nor I am like Mrs Layne. Stop judging people with the same perspective." I said walking closer as I stood beside Roy holding a bored look.
I looked at Roy and passed him a smile. “Nice house.” I complimented.
They both looked at me staggered and Roy said exasperated, "Garnet I told you not to come."
"I didn't hear it." I said, shrugging my shoulders.
“And why would I stay there? Don’t be absurd, Roy. I won’t miss it.” I muttered and turned to Mr. Layne.
"He lives in delusions that his mother came back for him, he will realize what I said is true when you will leave him too when he was left with nothing." Mr. Layne said agitated.
"You surely are one hell of a headache, Mr. Layne." I said with a sigh.
Putting my hand over my waist and suddenly Roy chuckled, he always loved it when I mocked Mr. Layne.
I looked at Roy who was smiling and everyone was taken aback that just a few seconds ago they both were fighting and now Roy is laughing.
"Stop laughing, Roy. Don’t ruin this atmosphere of the situation." I scolded him.
"Sorry." He mumbled, forcing his laugh to stop. I heaved a sigh and continued.
"Oh, come on Mr. Layne, how can I leave him? He deserves an eternal imprisonment for stealing my last name. It wouldn't be fun if I let him go after a few years." I smirked, folding my arms, glaring at Roy to shut his mouth.
“Don’t worry, it’s either us or death now.” I whispered with a venomous smile causing one him to clear his throat and look away nervously.
“And I swear on his behalf, Mr. Layne, Even if I leave him, he won't, he will follow me to the depths of hell. He showed this just a week ago.” I mocked, talking about his sudden confession.
Roy cleared his throat again and turned his head away, “It was your fault.” He mumbled.
“My fault? It was you who didn’t think, didn’t call, just ran and I missed my flight!” I argued and Roy laughed again to think what we are talking about right now.
"Stop laughing, Roy! We are talking about something serious. Don’t astray me. Me and Mr. Layne are having a highly intellectual conversation, it is not for weak minds like you." I said strictly, motioning him to shut up.
Mr. Layne kept looking at me with his eyes wide and stunned.
"Where did you get that girl?" He asked, still amazed.
"What? Now I am talking seriously; none of you are." I said with a frown. After a silence Mr. Layne smiled and shook his head,
"Feel free to cage him but on one condition." He said, shaking his head.
"What?" I asked happily.
"You will never free him." He gave the best offer.
I looked at Roy and smiled sincerely, "I have no intentions of doing that either." And then looked darkly at him, “I am not among those women you can cheat on and get away easily. You think of it once and you won’t be able to reproduce again-”
“H-Hey, you are going too far. I would never!”
“That is my warning to you.”
“You are the first woman I brought home and you are doubting me?”
He didn't say anything and left with a sad smile.
I don't know why but I felt like he wanted to pat his son's head and give him his blessing but judging his past mistakes, he couldn’t redeem them.
I think I should do something about them but for now I don't think it's a good idea. I have to patch their relationship gradually.
After he left Roy turned to me, "Anyways, you are unbelievable, Woman.." He breathed out.
"I know." I said with a triumphant smirk, pushing him playfully with my elbow.
"Anyways we have to go now. Lesley and Lucien have kidnapped my sister for a very long time." Roy laughed and replied,
"Don't worry they are at your home."
"I love it when you say home." I grinned, kissing his cheeks.
"Okay then, see you Mrs Layne. Bye." I said to her and then left with Roy.
