Chapter 95 Nerd
Chapter 95 Nerd
KENDRA
He scoffed "Excuse me?"
"ARE YOU FUCKING that nerd too?" I repeated, feeling my blood boil cause I so much don't want to believe my fucking instincts.
"Are you insane, Kendra?" he asked. The look on his correspond with his words.
But nah. He is not fooling me.
I withdrew my hand from his door and folded my hands, staring at him.
"What kind of weird question is that?"
"I saw the way you looked at her."
He raised his brows.
"I also saw the way you held her arm in front of Dad's ward. Hell, you were staring at her all through like she had something interesting written all over her nerdy self. So tell me, Xavier."
He kept staring at me.
"Are you fucking that nerd?"
He heaved a sigh, putting his hands in his pockets and looking away.
"The fuck have I done," he muttered without looking at me, making me furrow my brows in confusion.
"What was that?"
He looked at me. "This is my fault. I let myself do things with you and now look at where it has brought us."
I furrowed my brows again.
"This is another reason why I wanted us to stop."
"What are you on about?"
"It is clearly fucking with your head."
"Excuse me?"
"Give me one good reason why you think I am doing shit with Jessica?"
I stared at him.
"As you said, she is a fucking nerd. Why on earth would you think I am fu..." he paused, looking away and heaving a sigh.
I kept staring at him. The way he is reacting to this is making me feel wrong.
"Look, Kendra," he said, looking at me. "Get me out of your head."
My heart tightened.
"What we had was forbidden. It was a huge betrayal but it is in the past now. Move on and stop assuming things when it comes to me."
I opened my mouth to speak but....
"Just stop, Kendra." he retorted calmly.
I stared at him as I felt tears coming.
"Brad is my best friend. So is Leo. What makes you think I would want to betray both of my best friends?"
I lowered my gaze, feeling regret taking over me.
"They are both important to me more than anything."
I looked at him.
More than anything?
"To be clear, I am not fucking Jessica," he said. "You two are my nieces."
My heart tightened again. "I am....I am not your niece and you know that."
"Well, that's the only relationship I can give you. An uncle and niece relationship. Nothing else."
My heart tightened again, making me look away as I suppressed my fucking tears.
"Now, I know you lied about your car," he said.
I looked at him.
"That's your car over there, isn't it?" he gestured with his head in that direction.
I looked at my car parked right next to him.
I lowered my gaze momentarily and looked at him.
"For real this time, Kendra. Let's maintain an actual distance. Take your car and go wherever you said you wanted to go earlier. I need to be at the company right now."
I kept staring at him.
He moved towards his car door, making me move out of his way a bit.
I watched as he opened the door and got in.
I attempted to say the word but stopped myself as he started the car while his windows moved up.
He drove backwards and then drove into the road.
I felt tears approaching again as I stared in the direction he took as his words repeated in my head.
God, why the fuck am I feeling this way?
I don't understand it.
"Kendra," a familiar female voice took my attention.
It was my mom. I realized she just drove in, dressed in the same clothes she wore this morning to work, dark shades, and holding her handbag.
"Why are you standing here?" she asked, taking off her dark shades.
I looked away. "Nothing."
"Was that Xavier who just drove away?"
Sighing, I looked at her.
"Yes. Why are you here?" I asked.
She scoffed. "Your father is my husband, remember?"
I scoffed, rolling my eyes.
"Still don't want to drop that attitude of yours huh?"
"Dad is inside. You can follow me or stand here all day wondering about my fucking attitude." I said, walking back into the building.
"You need to mind the way you speak to me, young lady." I heard her say and her heels clicking on the floor as she followed me behind.
"I am still your mother,"
I rolled my eyes.
Yeah right.
AN HOUR LATER.......
IN THE WARD.........
"I will go get the nurse right away," Jessica said, smiling at Dad.
We are all in the ward and Dad just exhausted his drip. Mom and I are seated on the sofa I was seated on earlier. Alex is still seated on the barstool and Dad is on his bed.
Seated up.
"Okay," Dad said, smiling as well.
"Why can't you just do it yourself?" Mom asked, stopping Jessica in her tracks.
She opened her mouth to speak but.....
"She would rather obey the hospital's stupid policy than take care of her sweet uncle," I said while staring at Jessica.
She furrowed her brows.
"Go ahead, princess," Dad said, making me roll my eyes as Jessica headed out.
I can't remember the last time he called me princess.
It has always been Kendra.
Or Kendra Maria Sterling. My fucking full name.
He is so not a fun-loving dad. He would rather be fun and loving to someone else's daughter.
"I don't know what that girl is doing here when she is useless." Mom spoke up.
"Val, please," Dad said without looking at her.
"Don't Val please me. Stop showing your kids you love that clumsy thing more than you love them."
"What do you mean by showing us, Mom. Dad has always been like this," Alex said, making me scoff.
"Shut up, silly boy. He shows a preference for Carmen's kid all the time and you choose to be blind and foolish." Mom said angrily.
I might still be upset with her but she is right. Dad is doing too much.
"Your father needs to stop."
"Mom, please."
"Shut up." she snapped, making Alex heave a sigh.
"Tell me, Brad, what is it about Carmen's daughter you like so much?" Mom asked as I rested my eyes on him.
Dad looked at Mom. "You've forgotten she is Leo's daughter too huh?"
I scoffed internally.
"So what? She is not your daughter. Stop with the preference and give the love to your own."
"Nah. I'm good." I spoke up, making everyone look at me.
"I mean you can't force love, can you, Dad?"
He stared at me.
"I wanted your love when I was little but you always showed me Jessica was your favorite. Now I don't want it anymore. I don't even need it, okay?"
"Kendra, listen...."
I heaved a dramatic sigh as I got on my feet, cutting him off.
"I need to be someone. See you all at home. Bye dad. Mom." I said, walking towards the door.
"Kendra," Alex called.
"Forget it," I said, reaching for the doorknob but the door opened, revealing the familiar nurse alone.
"Um...excuse me,"
I rolled my eyes as I walked past her and out of the ward.
I walked along the hallway till I got to the elevator. I got it and it began going down.
Xavier came to my mind, making my heart react unusually.
I have been feeling weird since he ended things with me.
I had not felt that way before.
Hell, no one has ever ended things with me before. That is my job.
I end things.
No one has ever ended things with me first.
But he did.
And it hurts really bad.
I don't understand why.
But when I saw him with that Jessica, I felt a lot of things.
Anger.
Jealousy.
Hate.
Everything.
Like with Jessica of all humans on Earth!
She is a fucking nerd. Clumsy and clueless.
She doesn't dare to bag someone like him
Why did I even think he would have anything to do with her?
She is not even beautiful.
I huffed, taking out my phone from my pocket.
If it were someone around his age or say a Kim Kardashian, then I should be very worried.
God, why is he messing with my head like this?
Sighing, I checked my text and locked my phone.
The doors opened and I headed out. I walked towards the main entrance, walking out and heading towards my car.
But something caught my attention.
I looked towards my left and I saw Jessica with a familiar guy standing close to a car that was parked a few cars away from mine.
He is dressed in a lab coat, his hands in his pockets and he is leaning his side on the car while talking and smiling at her.
Wait, I remember him.
