CHAPTER 21

NOVEMBER

I have a very bad habit of overthinking things. Things that probably don't mean anything is what I like to dwell upon.

I've been tossing and turning for the last thirty minutes because, anytime I close my eyes, I feel Kalmon's lips on mine.

I'm not supposed to, but I can't help it.

Who knows? Maybe this was how he was with his previous secretaries, come to think of it, I've never really heard anything about his past secretaries.

No one talked about it.

This man would be the death of me.

Morning came after the torture I went through last night. I didn't need to be told, I took my keys and my phone and ran out of the house.

I didn't want him to wake me or something and besides, I already felt embarrassed about the kiss, I didn't need to see his face to be reminded and make me feel even worse.

I got into the car and sped home.

"And Cinderella came home after dawn," Mandy mocked when I entered the house. It was like she was waiting for me.

"You could’ve called us you know" Nifise said coming out of the kitchen with a plate of pancakes in her hands "I know, I ran out of airtime" I told them "So, did you guys sleep together?" Sally asked "What?" I asked in horror "On his bed, I mean" she corrected, and they laughed.

Okay, let's play "Yes, he's a huge sexy human pillow" I said using his word from last night.

I felt like taking out my phone and snapping their faces. They looked so shocked "It took everything in me to not tell him to fuck me" I lied and if they looked shocked then, it's worst now.

The looks they had on made me laugh and it was only then they knew I was lying.

"Damn girl, I thought we'd have to go for a wedding dress shopping" Sally said and we laughed.

"Okay, I'm going to get ready" I told them and turned to go when I heard Nifise say "You're driving by the way"

I had a quick shower and got dressed in a yellow gown that I got as a gift from Nifise's mom.

Oh, the advantages of having a friend whose mother is a designer.

The gown was off the shoulder and it clung to my body like a second skin while the end of it has fringe.

I loved the dress.

I took my phone and my charger, hoping to charge it in the company when I get there. I put it in my black bag and hurriedly ran to the kitchen.

Thankfully, Mandy made pancakes, so I took two pancakes in a plate and went out to the car.

The girls were waiting there already.

"So, who's going to lock the house?" Sally asked, giving me a look, and I smiled at her.

She rolled her eyes and went to lock the house while I opened the car for the rest to get in.

When everyone was set in the car, I drove like a maniac.

I don't even know why they made me drive today.

I dropped Nifise first then Mandy.

"See you by five right?" She asked me and I nodded my head.

I dropped Sally last because her workplace wasn't that far from mine.

"Bye baby" she said when she got out from the car "Bye" I said and drove to work.

"Good morning," Esther greeted me when I entered the company.

"Morning Esther" I said and ran to the elevator when I heard a familiar voice say "Hey, slow down princess"

I turned around "Casper!"

"Yeah, good morning to you too, you're late" he said holding up his wristwatch to my face 8:10

"Gee thanks" I said "The dragon has been looking for you and he's angry" he said, and my eyes widened at the last part.

Shit, what could be the problem now?

"Nice dress by the way" he called out when I ran to the direction of the kitchen.

I made his coffee and ran to his office.

I don't think I've run as much as I did today in my entire life.

"Good morning" I greeted when I entered his office. His back was to me.

"Where were you?" He asked not even bothering to turn around or answer my greeting.

I walked over to his desk, dropping the coffee there.

"I drove today so I went to dro—"

"Why did you leave?" He asked, cutting me short. This time turning to face me "I thought you were still sleeping, and I didn't want to disturb you, so I left," I said, playing with my fingers.

He walked over to me like a predator to its prey. I was scared but I didn't show it.

Before I knew what was happening, he engulfed me in a bear hug, I was so shocked that I left my hands hanging in the air.

He sniffed my hair, and I felt his hot breath fanning my neck.

"Don't ever do that to me again" he said in a very low voice still hugging me.

He's such a big baby I was still shocked that even when he released me from the hug, my hands were still hanging in the air like I was paralyzed.

He flashed me a heartwarming smile.

"There's work to do, Miss Tete" he said, keeping an easy smile on his lips.

"Of course, Mr. Knight" I said, smiling back.

I turned around to go when he said "Nice dress by the way"

Even without turning, I knew he still had that smile on his lips.
