Chapter 318 White Tiger Unit
Chapter 318 White Tiger Unit
Victoria let out a sigh, feeling somewhat helpless.
She had to find her mentor.
Caspian seemed to guess what she was thinking and dropped another bombshell before she could speak.
"I know where your mentor is. Refuse him, and I'll tell you."
Victoria's expression sharpened as she scrutinized Caspian's words for any hint of deception.
Caspian met her gaze calmly.
Had he really found information about her mentor?
Victoria suppressed her excitement and chose to trust Caspian for now.
She wasn't one to waver. She immediately refused Charles.
"I'm sorry, but I have no plans to join the military research institute at this time."
Charles's eyes dimmed for a moment before quickly returning to normal. "Don't be so hasty to refuse. I'll give you three days to think it over. Give me your answer then."
As if afraid Victoria would refuse again, Charles stood and left right after speaking.
The moment Charles left, Victoria asked, "What did you find out?"
Caspian didn't hide anything. He told Victoria that her mentor was the head of the White Tiger Unit.
He'd planned to tell her anyway—he just hadn't expected Charles to beat him to it.
Caspian slipped one hand around Victoria's waist, speaking slowly, as if afraid she might miss a single word.
"Victoria, if you want to find your mentor, I can help you. I'm more useful than Charles, understand?"
So don't go looking for Charles anymore.
Caspian didn't even know why he was so angry. Seeing Victoria with Charles made it impossible to control the violence simmering inside him.
He needed her promise.
"You're not joining his research institute."
Caspian's dark eyes were unfathomable, like they were veiled in black gauze. When Victoria met his gaze, her heart skipped a beat.
She'd never seen this kind of emotion in Caspian's eyes before.
Victoria froze slightly, unable to describe the feeling. Without question, Caspian was deadly serious, and there was anger threading through his tone.
His sharp brows were tightly furrowed, his thin lips pressed together, his presence commanding.
If this had been before, Victoria would definitely have been wary of angering the man who controlled the Howard Group.
But now, inexplicably, she thought Caspian looked oddly... awkward. Like a Tibetan mastiff desperately in need of soothing.
Victoria's gaze dropped to his lips.
Caspian's throat bobbed, something dark flashing in his eyes.
Victoria got the distinct impression he wanted her to kiss him.
Seeing her frozen in place, Caspian's expression darkened further. Was she actually considering joining the research institute?
He was clearly better than Charles, yet she still trusted Charles more...
Caspian's brows shadowed with darkness. Just as he was thinking of ways to stop her, his lips suddenly went soft. He froze in surprise.
Having confirmed her suspicion, Victoria didn't hesitate. She leaned in and kissed him.
Caspian, who moments ago had been plotting how to coerce and manipulate her, had every dark thought instantly erased by a single kiss.
Victoria pulled back slightly after the brief kiss, planning to discuss her mentor with him.
But the moment she left his lips, a large hand pressed against the back of her neck.
Caspian kissed her fiercely.
His kiss was as domineering and forceful as the man himself.
He sucked on Victoria's lip, pried open her teeth, invaded her mouth, his agile tongue sweeping across her palate. Victoria couldn't suppress a soft sound.
That delicate voice instantly ignited Caspian.
One hand slid to Victoria's lower back and pulled hard, drawing her directly into his embrace. This position gave Caspian better access.
He deepened the kiss relentlessly, his thumb gently stroking the back of her neck.
The assertive scent of cedarwood flooded Victoria's mouth.
Their breathing grew increasingly ragged, the atmosphere turning heated.
Victoria's body went half-limp from the kiss. It wasn't until she felt the hand at her waist slip beneath her clothes that she suddenly came to her senses and grabbed Caspian's wandering hand under the desk.
She pushed Caspian away.
Abruptly interrupted, Caspian's expression showed clear dissatisfaction.
His breathing was heavy, his gaze dark and fixed on her, his intention to go again painfully obvious.
Victoria's crimson lips glistened with moisture, looking impossibly soft.
Caspian's throat worked, his chest rising and falling slightly, desire stirred by her.
Victoria's lashes lowered as she took several deep breaths to regain her composure.
She hadn't forgotten the important matter at hand. "Can you contact someone from the White Tiger Unit?"
Since they knew her mentor headed the White Tiger Unit, contacting them would reveal her mentor's whereabouts.
After searching for so long, finally having news of her mentor left Victoria somewhat excited.
Caspian's gaze faltered, his voice hoarse. "The White Tiger Unit is a special forces team. Every member's identity is classified information. No one outside the military can contact them."
"..." Victoria's smile faded as she calmed down.
Only the military could contact the White Tiger Unit.
Which meant if she wanted to find her mentor, she'd have to join the military...
Caspian didn't need to look to know what she was thinking. He immediately shot it down.
"You want to accept Charles's invitation and join the research institute? Victoria, don't even think about it. I won't allow it."
Victoria said nothing more and turned to leave. She had her own plans.
The Howard Group.
Brandon Robinson had shown up unannounced—a first.
Brandon was a heavyweight on par with Caspian himself. More importantly, he was Caspian's stepfather.
In the CEO's office.
Caspian: "You wouldn't come here without a reason. I doubt you're here for tea."
Brandon got straight to the point.
"Come to the suburban estate outside the city tomorrow."
Caspian: "Why would I do that?"
Brandon: "Your mother wants to celebrate your birthday."
Caspian's expression remained indifferent. "Not my concern."
Brandon didn't bother lecturing him about the bond between mother and son. Instead, he pulled out an agreement.
He said, "Marry Hazel, and everything I own will be yours to inherit."
Hazel Carter had just returned to the country. Word was she'd been in love with Caspian since childhood.
Brandon's fortune was a mystery—rumor had it his total assets exceeded the GDP of a small nation.
This agreement would be irresistible to anyone.
Caspian raised an eyebrow. "You're trying to buy me off?"
