Chapter 81: From Crisis to Steps of Diversion
“We can ask the doctor if he has an X-ray. We should be able to find it that way. He’s been planning all of this all along. He was just using me.” She stared down at her lap trying not to cry. She got mad at herself for having any emotions about this, but it still hurt. She realized he never trusted her from the beginning. No matter how loyal she was.
“Stop it. He’s a dick and you know it. You said you’ve chosen your side. Now prove it.” Charles had walked over to her, and he said this to her quietly. “Now,” he said so everyone could hear him, “tell us what you know. Lying next to Lexy isn’t going to help her, is it?”
Georgia shook her head no. “It looks like it’s a chip that sends commands. It’s also attached to the central nervous system as well as the brain. Alpha Bruce, you found the chips on the top of their spines right?”
“Yes. Exactly.” He answered.
“I wonder if it had to be done in wolf form. Charles. Turn around.”
He did.
She felt the bottom of his neck right above his spine then for possible scars since she figured the incision would have to be deep in order to put in a chip. She didn’t feel anything that stood out to her.
“Can you please change into Liam so I can feel around for the chip?”
Charles nodded and disrobed again to turn into Liam. He growled a bit then stopped and reluctantly sat in front of Georgia.
“Hello Liam. We were friends once. I’m still me. I’m just… I see it now.” She looked down to the floor.
Liam felt Georgia’s sincerity and nodded. He turned and held his head low so she could feel the top of his spine.
“I found it.” She yelled triumphantly as she felt the small chip on his spine. “Now I just need to figure out how to remove it without killing you. My guess is, this is what’s keeping Lexy in distress.” She kept typing on her laptop. “Where’s the doctor?”
“I’ll go get him.” Bruce said as he headed for the doors where Sandra and Cordelia disappeared.
“It looks like I’ll need Starks remote control… or recreate one. I’ll have to give it the exact same signature as the one he has. But I’ve never seen it. I didn’t even know he had it.” She stared at the picture of the remote on her screen.
Pierce and Rosemary walked over to look at it.
“My dad has one like it… or he did. It’s at home somewhere.” Pierce said excitedly.
“Really?” Georgia was surprised.
“Yeah. I remember wanting to play with it as a kid and my dad said it wasn’t a toy.”
“Interesting that Stark would use something so old. He usually wants new and state of the art…”
“We need to do something. I’m getting anxious. Like we’re sitting ducks.” Rosemary intervened.
“Stark will expect us to either stay here at the hotel or go to Silver Moon Pack.” Georgia stated. “I do agree though. We need to move. But we need to get Alexander back first.”
“We need to get our hands on a remote and configure it to Starks remote first.” Pierce suggested.
“Ahhh! Fuck! What the hell?” No one noticed that Bear had changed back into Max.
“MAX!” Frankie got back in the cot and hugged him tightly.
“Ouch! Baby. That hurts.”
“I’m sorry.” She let go and pulled up from him. “I’m just so happy you’re alive!”
He noticed that she was wiping tears from her cheeks. “What happened?” He looked around the room at everyone. “Did you guys make me drink the memory potion or something? My head is killing me.”
“You were attacked by rogues, and they put wolfsbane in your blood.” Pierce answered.
“How am I still alive?”
“The doctor.”
“And Lexy?” He looked over at her panting body and noticed Charles and did a small head nod.
“Different issue.”
“That sucks. What can I do to help?”
“Get better first. We’re figuring out what to do next?”
“Oh, shit. I remember now.” Max spoke as he held his head. “Where’s Alexander?”
“Taken by the rogues.”
“What? That’s impossible…” He winced from the pain and Frankie tried to comfort him as best she could.
“Where else would he be? We followed his blood trail for a couple miles and then it just stopped and there was no one around. At all.” Pierce asked.
“Lexy’s wolf Althea fell to the ground and the rogues tried to get to her but Adelphos and I fought them off. Then he fell to the ground. I stayed close to Althea to keep them away from her until I couldn’t anymore and then I heard them yelp and I looked up and saw Velvette standing over Adelphos. She picked him up like he was just a pup and then I woke up in here.”
“Where is Velvette?” Georgia asked.
“She disappeared while we were chatting like an hour after everyone else left on their run.” Frankie answered as she recounted the moment in her mind.
Georgia started typing again. After a few minutes she said, “I found Lexy’s chip ID. I must have assumed that the ID before or after her would have been Alexander and I see both of those chip ID’s with a cluster of other chips. They are all headed towards Starks pack now to check in. It should take them a day or two to get to him. Maybe Alexander isn’t even chipped. But why would Lexy be chipped and not… Charles!”
“I told you he let me go too easily. I told you he was up to something. Fuck! He made me chip her! Pierce. You guys need to lock me up. Now! If he has control over me, I don’t know when I’ll do what he orders me to do. And once he realizes they didn’t bring Lexy back to him he might activate me… or something. I don’t want to hurt anyone. Especially my mate. Lock me up!”
“I hate to say it, but you’re right. Rose, check with your father. Let’s get him comfortably restrained. Also, I think it would be wise for us all to go to his palace.”
Rosemary nodded and contacted her father through their mind link.
“I need to check in on Clara and make sure everything’s alright. I asked her to keep an eye on Stark and make sure he was okay and to take good care of him because he was stressed. I also made her forget who I was but remember to watch out for him.”
“Why ever would you do that?” Charles asked annoyed.
“Charles, really? You don’t remember Clara? Kind, loving, overbearing, talk your ear off Clara? She helped give me and the toads extra time with how she babied him the way I knew she would. She’s very loyal to the Alpha title. Always has been. And has always had Starks best interests at heart.”
“Wow. You are a genius.” Charles shook his head.
