Omniscient Narrative
Moments later sirens wailed in the distance, mingling with the lingering shockwaves surrounding him.
Vincent's heart raced, panic flaring again—but in that state of confusion, he heard a familiar voice slicing through the chaotic noise.
"Vincent! Oh my God, what happened?"
Kai burst through the crowd, eyes wide and filled with concern as he raced toward Vincent.
His heart swelled painfully as he saw the remnants of the accident mirrored in Kai's face, a mixture of fear, anger, and care, he knew it wasn't love and he couldn't blame the shorter man.
"I don't know," Vincent stammered, tried to regain his composure, his voice barely above a whisper. "The brakes—they just failed."
"Are you hurt? Did you hit your head?" Kai stared at him with desperate eyes, inching closer as others fanned out around them.
"I'm fine... A few scratches, I think," Vincent huffed, feeling weaker by the moment. But as the adrenaline began to wear off, pain started sinking through every fiber of his being.
Vincent knew just who was behind this, it was the blackmailer.
But he couldn't voice it out because then the truth would have to be revealed.
.
As the emergency responders arrived, Vincent felt the weight of the world crashing down around him.
He was treated for minor cuts and bruises but was advised to remain bedridden for a period.
"Bed rest will do you good," the paramedic reassured him, but he could see the worry etched into Kai's features, his unwavering, protective gaze shattering any piece of denial Vincent had left.
Back home, Vincent found himself nestling into his bed, the soft pillows sinking beneath him as Kai tucked the covers snugly around his body.
He felt a rush of warmth as those familiar hands caressed his skin, soft fingers brushing against his forehead, where a slight bruise formed.
"Just rest," Kai whispered, leaning down to press a soft kiss to Vincent's cheek, a gesture infused with gentle care and tenderness.
Vincent felt warmth flood through him as Kai fussed over him, offering reassurance while frustration lurked in the crack of his mind.
But he couldn't help the guilt that pooled at his stomach.
"What happened?" Kai's voice broke through the vulnerable thoughts consuming him, an urgency lingering in his tone.
"Brakes failed... I don't understand," Vincent murmured, his voice catching slightly, frustration mingling with a hint of despair.
..
Unbeknownst to them, Aries lurked in the shadows, thriving on the painful fallout of Vincent's predicament.
He watched from a distance, a satisfied grin twisting his features, revelling in the sick ecstasy of his success.
Aries knew exactly how to move, he had planned the very events that would lead to this moment.
The thrill came not just from the sabotage of Vincent's car but from the emotional havoc it wrought.
..
With each passing day, as Vincent remained confined to his bed, with Kai by his side taking care of him.
And lord did that anger Aries, he didn't plan this, kai was supposed to come find him, to confront him for what he had done and then they make love, not spend his time caring for the cheater.
But as the days stretched on, Kai devoted every waking moment to nursing Vincent back to health, caring for his needs with a tender touch that melted the edges of Vincent's turmoil.
Vincent could see the way Kai's concern bloomed, making him question every choice he had hidden behind.
How had his desires for outside pleasure led to this crises, he has been a horrible husband and he knew it.
"Let's watch a movie," Kai suggested one evening, settling beside Vincent on the bed. "You need to relax."
Vincent nodded, grateful for the distraction. "Thanks for taking care of me," he murmured, guilt wrapping around him like a tight shroud.
"Always," Kai replied softly, brushing a lock of hair from Vincent's forehead, eyes filled with love and tenderness. "Just promise me you'll be careful from now on. I can't bear the thought of something worse happening to you."
Vincent bit his lip, struggling under the emotions assailing him. "I never wanted to worry you... I just—"
"Shh," Kai pressed a finger to Vincent's lips. "Let's not talk about this now. Just rest, please."
.
Days slipped by, and Vincent's recovery progressed slowly. Each night he was wrapped in the comfort of Kai's presence, and Vincent was starting to love being around the shorter man.
Aries lingered in the background like an unseen specter, watching his plan unfold with sinister delight.
He watched the couple through the cameras he had placed in their house and anger filed his heart more and more as he watched them basically live in peace.
He was going to ruin that.
"Looks like you'll be falling apart very soon, Vincent," he spoke to the television. "Don't forget who's holding the reins."
.
Days passed, and Vincent was slowly starting to regain strength, yet each flicker of progress came with the disquiet following him like a phantom.
He had started to yearn for Kai, for their old connection, but the shadow of betrayal loomed.
One evening, as they sat together, Kai leaned in closer. "How are you feeling?" he asked gently, concern etched in every curve of his expression.
"Better, I think," Vincent replied, his voice strained and taut. "But I can't shake the feeling of anxiety—like something's lurking not far away."
Kai's brow furrowed, his eyes narrowing. "You need to focus on recovering," he insisted, interlacing their fingers for comfort. "You can't let fear consume you."
But it was too late—fear had taken root, but it wasn't because of the accident, it was more about the truth coming to light.
"I just want you to get well soon and go back to the old you" Kai said before he kissed Aries on the head and walked away.
