Chapter 68 Chapter 68) A mission.

Chapter 68 Chapter 68) A mission.
“She is on the move. She has finally left that cursed place. This is a sign that it is time for us to act”. A lady in blue clothing said.

In her hand was a big wooden spoon which she was using to stir the big pot of potion that was boiling on top of the fire.

Standing next to her was her one and only apprentice, who was also the daughter of her late sister.

“Should we make our move and fulfill the vision you saw, Aunt?”. The assistant asked her. She was called Blaire, and could be a big handful and naive most of the time.

“She is brimming with a lot of good energy. I fear that the evil ones are going to go after her. We must stop that from happening”. The lady said and stopped stirring the pot of potion, while she stared at Blaire.

Blaire’s focus was on the pot.

It was by coincidence she stared at her aunty, and upon seeing that her aunty had focused her gaze on her, she turned to her instantly.

“Is something wrong, Aunt? Is there something on my face?”. She asked her, while she touched her face, thinking that she was going to find something there.

But, her Aunt, Mirabel, chuckled and slightly shook her head as she stared at her.

Then reaching out her right hand, Mirabel placed it on top of her head.

“Nothing is wrong, my child. It is just that, I want you to do me a favor”. She said to her, making her eyes sparkle.

She was someone who always wanted to do something for her Aunt and make her become so proud of her.

“Anything you want me to do, be rest assured that I am going to do it perfectly for you, Aunt!”. She announced, and was already jumping a little bit out of excitement, even after not knowing what exactly Mirabel wanted her to do.

Mirabel smiled at her but like a second later, the expression on her face changed into something serious.

Seeing that, Blaire stopped being excited. “What is it, Aunt Mirabel?”. She asked, as she was not able to predict why the expression on her face had changed.

But if it were someone else, they would have realized that it had something to do with the favor she had just mentioned.

Mirabel placed both hands on Blaire’s shoulders. Her eyes didn't stop being serious, and neither did she avert her gaze from Blaire.

She said, “I want you to go after them and protect her for me, Blaire. She is the hope we have against the rising evil in the world. We must ensure that the little ones inside of her are kept safe”.

She paused to talk, and taking a deep breath, she continued to say, “You and I are the last of our kind after my sister, your mother, got killed by the evil one. But with her, our chances of survival, and the hope of reproducing our kind without distraction, will become a 100 percent success”.

“The moon goddess was wise enough to let her end up with a mate like him. He might be cold, but would be loyal to her and protect her with his life, as she is his true mate who had always been made for him”.

“But first, I want you to help her know who she really is, so that she can bring back the other her, and also dispel the curse in that mansion and in him, as he can not protect her forever if the curse still remains within his bloodline”.

“I don't want the children to be affected by that. You must help her succeed”. She concluded, not knowing that her entire word had put a lot of pressure in Blaire's heart, and made her take deep breaths.

Her neck suddenly became hot, and she began to fan herself using both hands.

Mirabel let go of her shoulders. “Are you alright?”.

“Em…”. She giggled, then replied, “A little, Aunty”.

Despite her reply, she added immediately after, saying, “Can't you handle the mission by yourself while I remain here and safeguard our home? After all, the vision was yours, and you ought to be the one who took care of everything”.

Mirabel shook her head and tried not to laugh at her niece’s attempt to save her skin. Has she forgotten the promise she made a few minutes ago to her? Has she forgotten that she said she was going to do anything she had asked of her?

Still, she wasn't ready to let her off the hook.

“You are going to go in my stead, Blaire, and that's final”. She declared and was not ready to cut her some slack, causing her to pout her lips because of the trouble she had brought upon herself.

“You can set off today. The sooner, the better”. She added.

“So soon?!”. Blaire exclaimed with widened eyes.

“Yes, Blaire. So soon”. She said, before she left, leaving Blaire speechless as she tried to understand how everything led to her leaving her Aunt out of the blue.

She was stunned, and imagining a life without her Aunt by her side was something she didn't dare believe was ever going to happen to her, because of how attached she had grown towards her.

“Aunty, you can't just leave after saying such disturbing words to me”. She recovered from her shock and went after her, while hoping that she was going to have a change of heart and let her off the hook.

While within her mind, she had promised herself that if she was let off the hook, she would not dare make the same mistake of making a promise to do anything!
