Chapter 69 Chapter 69) His mate.
The day passed quickly in the blink of an eye, and then came evening.
Except those in the mansion, and the warriors who were probably at the border, no one outside the mansion was aware that their Lycan King and their Luna had left the moonlight pack.
Due to this, Mike took the responsibility of being in charge.
Currently, he was sitting on the mansion's rooftop as he safeguarded the mansion, even though he knew that nobody in their right senses was bold enough to attack.
That was because, compared to all the past Lycans, they believed that Alejandro was the worst of them.
After his (Alejandro’s) father died of a sickness, he suddenly changed, like he had become a totally different person.
And when some tried to take his life, because they believed that he did not have the protection of his father anymore, he killed them in the most gruesome way.
When that incident took place, no one said anything.
There was only silence, since they realized that, with or without his father, he was perfectly capable of protecting himself.
{PS: Remember, Alejandro’s father didn't die of a sickness. That was simply what the werewolves believed happened to him}
Mike let out a small sigh.
His eyes were shut as he let the cold breeze envelope his body.
This soft feeling reminded him of her greatly. The love of his life.
Before he knew it, he began to think about her. She was the only daughter of an average couple, but tragically lost her life in the silliest way.
He remembered that day so vividly like the back of his hand.
It was her birthday, and he had promised her that he was going to make that day so special for her.
It was because of her he overworked himself while serving Alejandro, and only requested a day off on her birthday, so that he could celebrate it with her.
But that day soon turned out to be the worst day of his life, all because he agreed to a special request from her.
She wanted to go to Paradise City and have fun in their exciting amusement park.
He refused her at first, but she was persistent and was adamant on going there. Due to that, he had no choice but to take her there with him.
But, they had barely arrived when they got ambushed and attacked by a group of rogue werewolves, who were many in numbers and greatly overpowered him.
He tried to hold them off and told her to run to safety, which she did.
But what he never expected or imagined was that she was going to return and try to help him, only for her to end up being stabbed in the heart with their claws.
At that moment, his head spun, and his heart darkened. Holding the injured body of his beloved did something to him.
He rose to his feet and fought like a crazy beast who had nothing else to lose.
He had expected himself to die in battle, but surprisingly, he somehow killed every one of them and still sought for more to kill.
His body, especially his clothes, were drenched in blood, and so was his face.
Not minding that, he hurriedly returned to her side and knelt before her.
His hands trembled as he reached out to grab her, and his breath, heavy.
“I- I- am so-rry. I- I thought I co-uld help. I wa-nt y- you to ke- keep on liv- ing for us”.
Those were the last words she said to him with a bitter smile, before she took her last breath which gave him the final blow.
That smile of hers had haunted him to this very day.
“I miss you, Daisy. I- I miss you so much”. His voice cracked as he said, with tears escaping his eyes.
“Don't worry about your parents. I have been taking care of them for you. Just keep on resting and wait for me”. He opened his eyes after saying this, and went utterly silent the next second.
A world without her was like a place without decent air to breathe, and it was suffocating him deep within.
….
“I need to meet with him. He must keep his mouth shut. And, I must persuade father tomorrow and have him change his mind”. Kira, who was pacing back and forth, said.
She had been restless ever since she had breakfast with her father in the morning.
Also, she had not eaten any food again as she had lost the appetite to do that.
“I should meet him. I want to know what he discussed with my father”. She concluded and decided to leave the house.
A while later of being sneaky, she arrived outside the house and made her way to warrior Dan’s house.
What she didn't understand was why he was there at home and not at the border.
When he got sent to guard the border along with the other warriors, she actually thought that it was the last time she was ever going to see him.
So, what the heck was he doing?
She arrived at his house before she knew it. That was how desperate she was.
Also, she never wanted him to come to her father's house again.
Technically speaking, she had come to warn him to stay away from her and her father.
Inside the house,
Dan sat in his bed as he thought about what happened in the morning.
When he was at the border, he could not stop himself from thinking about Kira.
She was his mate but had failed to acknowledge him. And it was worse because he was someone who had always had a crush on her.
After thinking much about it, he finally had the courage to meet her father and tell him the truth about their bond, while also pleading with him to keep it a secret, as he wanted to try hard to win her heart.
It took a lot of persuading, and elder Edward agreed to keep their discussion a secret.
But, he was glad to know that he (Elder Edward) was more than willing to accept him as his son in law.
All he needed to do right now was to win Kira's approval, which was the most important and the ultimate for him.
He lowered his head and rubbed his palms on his face with a sigh, but upon hearing a knock on his door, he lifted his head while looking uninterested.
“Who is it?”. He said with a groan and rose from his bed with a hiss, before wearing his night slippers and making his way out of his bedroom.
He didn't bother to put on his shirt, as he had expected the late evening visitor to be, perhaps, one of the warriors.
But, upon arriving in his living room, and after going to the door to open it, his eyes widened in shock after he saw her.
The person whom he had been lost thinking about.
His mate.
