Chapter 64 Chapter 64) The pressure/ A secret.
“It is for the best that you stop going to the Lycan King's mansion, sweetie”. Her father said to her, causing her eyes to widen in shock, because she never expected him to say something like that to her.
Not when she had expected him to console her, defend her, and say that he was going to go to the Lycan King’s mansion to confront the stupid Luna who dared to humiliate and hurt her.
“Dad…”. She tried to protest, but he did not give her the chance to do that, and he resumed talking.
“You should let it die down, sweetie. Until then, you shouldn't go close to the Lycan King's Mansion. You can go anywhere else but not that place”. He added, confusing her more, with her mouth opened slightly in disbelief.
She did not understand what was going on. Neither did she understand why he was being like that to her.
She began to wonder if the man sitting next to her was the father she used to know, because if he were the father she used to know, after she told him all of that, he would have made his way to the Lycan King’s mansion to make things right.
So, why was he being this way today? What was different?
What actually changed?
She had tried to put herself in his shoes in order to understand his mind, or at least, be able to guess almost accurately what he might be thinking.
But, no way. She could not understand him no matter how much she had tried and had imagined herself to be him.
While she continued to stare at his face with complete disbelief, as she was speechless to say anything to him, a thought was busy going through his (Edward's) head, and that was something she could not tell.
‘This is for the best. I have been looking for solid reasons to make her stay away from the Lycan King's mansion for the time being. I am glad that the moon goddess thought of something herself and made this possible’. Elder Edward thought, and had never felt so happier in his life.
He wouldn't lie, but he really appreciated what Demira had done.
All this while, his heart had always been restless because he disliked the way his precious daughter went to the Lycan King's mansion.
Although he knew that Alejandro had someone whom he loved, that did not stop him from being restless and unable to sleep well at night.
He was afraid that one day, Alejandro might set his eyes on his daughter, and he didn't want that to happen, as he knew that if his daughter got married to Alejandro, their union wasn't only going to bring benefits, but it was equally going to bring some other sorts of trouble.
He didn't want such a life for his daughter, because he had promised his wife to protect her. Thus, he wanted her to have a simple life with her fated mate, or if she was not blessed with one, he wanted her to get married to the man whom she loved, and live a happy, simple life with him.
“Em, Dad. I don't get it. Do you really want me to stay away from the Lycan King's mansion? Or are you, by chance, mistaken about this? I want to know”. She raised both brows curiously as she asked him, while trying her best not to look desperate for an answer.
The entire dining room felt silent after what she said, and she could literally hear her heart beating so fast like something which wanted to explode.
Also, the fork and the knife in her hand… she left both of them on the table before her, with her gaze fixed on her father as she tried to remain as calm as possible.
“You should focus on getting married, dear”. He said, thus throwing another bomb at her when she had not recovered from the first bomb he had thrown at her.
“What?!”. She exclaimed, but surprisingly, he didn't react as he was busy thinking.
‘If she eventually gets herself a husband and has kids, or a kid, then there is no way she could catch the eyes of the Lycan King. I don't ever want her to be trapped in his ruthless claws’. He thought, even after being completely aware, that Alejandro had no interest of any sort in his Kira.
But, there was a saying: IT WOULD NOT HURT TO BE EXTRA CAREFUL.
He suddenly rose and declared.
“I think it's time, sweetie. You are old enough to be in your husband's house. I want you to present the love of your life to me during your upcoming 26th birthday. And no matter who he is…”. He paused and thought within his mind, ‘As long as he is not the Lycan King’.
After thinking about that, he continued to say to her, “.... I will accept him as my son in law”.
“What?!”. Kira exclaimed again and wanted to tell him to explain what was happening, only for Phoebe to come into the living room with a report.
“Elder Edward, warrior Dan seeks an audience with you. He is outside the house and has refused to come in without your permission”. She explained.
“Dan?”. He muttered, and staring at Kira with a look of relief on his face, he left the dining room, indirectly not sparing her the chance to ask him any questions.
Meanwhile, she was shocked as she watched him leave. She wanted to know the reason why he was behaving weirdly and was not like the father she knew.
With him out of the dining room, she glared at Phoebe. ‘You snake’. She thought and clenched her fists.
Phoebe grew scared by what she saw.
Due to that, she politely excused herself from the dining room, as she wanted to be as far away as possible from Kira's sight.
“He wants me to present a son in law to him during my birthday?”. She gritted her teeth and rolled her eyes.
“Never. I would rather die than get married to another”. She swore, before her eyes turned cold.
“If he learns that warrior Dan is my fated mate, I bet he will be happy and push me into marrying him. Why is he even here?”. She hissed.
“I must never let my father find out. I have warned Dan to keep our mate bond a secret. But I must warn him again, because I can never get married to him”.
