Chapter 63 Chapter 63) The truth mixed with lies.
The dining room,
Phoebe was done with preparing breakfast, and had served the food on the table.
Currently, Kira was sitting on the dining chair, next to her father, who was sitting on the head chair.
In front of them, on the table, were spiced steak, some vegetables, and some other light meals and snacks.
Kira took her first bite, but just like that, she lost appetite.
It was not because the food was bad, but it was because she was in a sour mood, and was furious within her heart that she could not express how annoyed she was, simply because her father was present.
Elder Edward noticed that Kira was barely touching her food.
Not just that. He felt that she was kind of off today, because by now, she ought to have mentioned to him what she wanted for her upcoming birthday.
Or she would have told him to give her some money for shopping, as she loved shopping for more clothes, shoes, and bags.
But today, she was oddly quiet, and it was something that he would not fail to notice as her father.
With a sigh, he left his knife and fork on the table, next to his plate of steak, with his gaze fixed on her. Though she was not aware of his gaze on her, as she was lost thinking about how to make Demira/Priscilla pay for treating her that way.
Seriously, she was feeling so unsettled because no one had ever treated her in that manner before.
It felt foreign to her, and as she thought about it, she felt a tear in her heart.
A tear and a wound that she was not able to bring herself to endure.
At some point, she shifted the blame to her father.
If only he had pushed for her to become the Luna of the moonlight pack, then she would not have gone through such pain earlier.
“Tell me what the problem is, sweetie. You know I am always there for you. Just tell me what is bothering you, and I will take care of it for you”. He said to her, taking her aback, and causing her to understand that she was being too obvious.
She held her fork and her knife firmly, and staring at Edward, she forced a smile on her face, “I’m alright, Dad. There is nothing bothering me”.
She told a lie, as she could not bring herself to tell him the truth. He might preach to her that what she did by going to the mansion and treating the Luna as an equal, no matter her previous identity, was wrong of her to do.
She knew that she would be pissed off if she eventually heard something like that coming from him.
Besides, the Luna’s position should have been hers in the first place.
But, after thinking again and knowing that her father would certainly learn about what happened even if she didn't tell him about it, made her blood boil.
The worst part was that the warriors did not let her inside the mansion after throwing her out, making her wonder if she should report the matter to the Lycan King.
Unfortunately, even though she loved him so much, she was scared of him. It had been a while since she had been visiting his mansion, but he had never for once looked at her.
He had always ignored her like she was a block of ice.
Was he even going to listen to her?
“Are you sure nothing is bothering you? I can clearly see that something is bothering you”. He added, not buying her words.
‘Should I tell him?’. She thought since he seemed persistent.
If she didn't tell him about it, he would definitely go out of his way to figure out what happened, and she didn't want something like that happening, as she was afraid that he was going to dig deeper than he ought to.
‘I guess I should tell him’. She figured, as it would be pointless and might work against her if she did not tell him about it herself.
She took a deep breath, and staring at him without averting her gaze from him, she got into an acting mood and admitted with a pitiful look on her face, saying, “There is indeed something bothering me, Dad”.
Listening to his daughter's words made him pay more attention to her. He added immediately, “Tell me about it”.
She braced herself after hearing what he demanded of her.
And as she thought it through… what exactly she was going to say to him, she began, “Actually, I had woken up from sleep earlier and left the house for the Lycan King's mansion. I was curious about the Luna and wanted to pay my respects to her. I thought maybe I could be friends with her”.
“But-”. She paused, causing Edward's eyes to spark with curiosity.
“But what?”. He asked her, prompting her to continue talking.
She explained, “When I arrived at the mansion, I met Luna Demira. She wanted to enter our Lycan King's bedroom without his permission, so I politely stopped her”.
“Who knew that she would order the warriors to throw me out of the mansion? She even ordered that, without her permission, I would never be able to enter the mansion again”.
Tears filled her eyes.
“Dad, you must do something about this”. She pleaded.
‘Hehehe. There is no way that you won't do anything about how I was treated with me looking so pitifully’. She thought to herself and was pretty confident, not expecting that his next words were going to make her lose balance.
