Chapter 32
Megan POV
Mom was right, it's time to put things between Stevie and me behind me, but It was impossible to get in touch with her, her social media accounts haven't been updated in months, our friends back home haven't heard from her, I even tried to reach out to her parents, but they only insulted me, calling me names. It's like she vanished off earth's surface.
This past week has been busy, Anthony are I still aren't talking terms and we are supposed to get married in a few days, and my life has been a rollercoaster filled with surprises, betrayals, deaths, and secrets. I don't even know if I should marry Anthony anymore, yes, I love him, I do, but I just feel like we should call this whole thing off and wait for a while until we were sure.
Today I have to meet up with the wedding planner to go over my dream wedding once more, I slipped out of bed, freshened up, and made breakfast. My parents are late sleepers, so I prepared my signature scrambled eggs; with bell peppers and cheese alongside waffles, my mouth watered as I prepared my dish with a mug of hot steaming black coffee.
I ate, flossed, got dressed, and left a note on the refrigerator for my parents, that I was out and Jace will attend to their needs. Luckily, I could convince the boys that I want to be alone today, and I could drive, I even had to show them my driver's license for proof.
I didn't know which car I wanted to drive today, Anthony was strict on switching up cars d then, said it had something to do with people not being able to know your next move. I walked passed each car slowly, looking at each design and uniqueness, until I saw a dark, shiny, 2017 BMW,
"Jace, I need the keys to this one,” I smiled proudly pointing to the car.
"Nice choice Ms. Francis, sure you handle this bad boy,” tossing me the keys.
"Jace I can manage, stop worrying, take care of my parents for me, can you do that?"
"Sure thing mam", he cheerfully answered.
I powered the engine to life and left the premises. I was surprised that I still remembered how to drive, this car was powerful and the fear of possibly getting into an accident had to drive as slow as a turtle.
What should have taken me an hour and thirty minutes, took me two hours, my stomach growled with hunger and I regret not having enough, I suddenly got a sweet tooth, and I was craving pastries and smoothies.
Luckily, there was a donut shop near the bridal boutique, and I decided to make a quick stop and satisfy my sweet tooth.
"Good morning welcome to CC cakes and more, go ahead with your order", a young cashier greeted me pleasantly.
"Good morning darling, may I have a box of your jelly donuts with a large Strawberry smoothie please," I smiled widely at her.
"Sure thing, mam, that would be five dollars."
I gave her a ten-dollar note, collected my goodies, and proceeded to leave. She kept calling me back for my change but that was her tip for being so genuinely kind.
I turned around but was still walking backward, "Keep it! It's your tip", I smiled and waved.
Just as I was to turn around my back collided with someone.
"Fuck, bitch can watch where you're goi—Megan?" she asked, surprisingly.
“Well...Well, look what the cat dragged in.”
“Come on Meg let's not do this here, it's not even like I—”
“Then what is it exactly huh? Tell me what could have possibly made you suck my fiancé’s dick...in my apartment,” I asked Natalie in disgust.
But my heart softens when she brought her palms to her face and begin to sob.
"I am sorry Meg, I was drinking and then in the morning I realized what I have done, and I left and then I began to drink again and send those stupid messages and I—"
"Hey, calm down,” I rubbed her shoulders and gestured to sit at the empty table next to us.
"You see Meg, it's my girlfriend, she is a little possessive, manipulative and she cheats nonstop...and...and...it been stressing me out, I know it doesn't justify what I did, it shouldn't have happened, and I am sorry, Megan you're my best friend and I will never do anything to intentionally hurt you".
Girlfriend?
Natalie was a lesbian?
It all sums up now, I never hear she speaks about guys and notice the way she looks at my nakedness, her apology felt sincere and genuine.
"I... didn't know— um...here have a donut,” push the box over to them and watch as she took a bite into one of the delights.
Thinking about everything I decided to forgive Natalie, I do still need a bride's maid and I would have been a hypocrite, I wished Stevie would have listened to my side too, and as far as II know, Natalie is in a bad space, plus she's gay so I trust this would be the first and last and I just wanted to forget everything.
"I forgive you Natz, I just really hope you don't disappoint me again, but what are you doing around here, why aren't you at work?" I questioned.
She stopped chewing abruptly, and slowly lift her head, meeting my gaze, "He fired me, Megan, I thought you knew or even initiated it."
I was shocked that he would fire any and everyone when it comes on to me, this was unfair to the employees of course but still, I was blushing on the inside.
"No, I didn't Natz— I didn't even know."
"OH,” was all she said.
We sat there in silence.
"I was heading to the bridal boutique, I don't know if you want to drag along, Natalie I would like you to still be my bridesmaid."
"I'd love to Megan.”
We left and I drove forecast 10 minutes more before arriving at a bridal boutique, courses parked the can r and Natalie and I were laughing and chatting until I saw a familiar face,
"Brad?" I muttered, staring at my long-time friend, “What— what are you doing here?”
