Chapter 59: Preparing a meal with him

Chapter 59: Preparing a meal with him
Belle's POV

Did I make the wrong choice of letting him in again?

Yes but I don't want to care now, not when he showed up in the rain looking hopeless.

It's like he needed to scream and just as I've open my arms again, but this time, I have to play smart.

If only he knew I ran from my room when I stole glances of him, heading to my house from the balcony.

I hesitated for a reason, but ended up fooling myself because I let him in again.

With my hands on the counter, the kitchen felt warm and alive with scent of simmering spices.

My eyes traces miles movement as he cooked.

The golden light streams above the sink and dance with the steam rising from the pot on the stove.

His hands moved with ease, chopping fresh cilantro, he's making snowflakes schnitzel.

The aroma filled the kitchen mingling with the smell of bread crumbs on the counter.

He made me break the dried fishes into pieces and wash some raspberries.

Ironically, I became the errand girl in my house while this man occupied the whole place.

His eyes concentrates on the meal as a slight smile plays on his lips.

He glanced up and caught me looking. Miles raised an eyebrow in mock challenge and I hissed silently at him while he laughs softly.

I pushed off from the counter as he stirred the ingredients together.

"You're making use of roots?" I asked curious as my eyes traces his hands.

He looked up, his eyes crinkle at a corner.

"Most people abandons the root without realizing it's medicinal and helps a lot... it's more like, don't judge from the physical appearance" he addressed and I bite my lips wondering why he's lecturing me about meals.

He reach out for a like on the cutting board.

Miles said that with so much emotions that it left me wondering if he was talking about me.

It's like an ordinary moment where I get surrounded by warmth, food and the man who makes my heart fluster.

"I hope it's delicious" I said knowing that I might judging from the aroma.

I haven't had a proper meal ever since that stranger abandoned me like I didn't exist again.

Except he knows I'm tailing after him.

"It deepens on your taste" he whispers calmly as we exchanged glances.

He was done cooking and then served on the table. My feet scurries to the table as I sat behind it.

I was eager to eat, staring at how he polished the plate and the beauty of the meal he served was tempting.

"You should be a chef miles" I began as he takes his seat opposite me with a jar of milk in his hand and two glasses.

"I am but for you alone"

I was blushing but didn't want it to be obvious that I hide my face slightly from him while grabbing a spoon to devour the meal.

"Don't waste that talent, at least you have something useful" I said grabbing the crunchy chicken roll to eat.

Just a bite had me sent to the heavens and the stars were in circles, singing a song that doesn't exist.

He place his palm on his cheek, reading every reaction on me which got me jinxed.

"What's wrong?" I asked chewing my mouth and snatching every course meal on the plate before me.

"I'm glad you like it"

I steadied my chewing mouth as it's obvious I've betrayed myself by enjoying a meal prepared by him.

Clearing my throat, I dart my gaze away from him while narrowing my gaze at the plate.

I've finished the meal without realizing it and I need more.

"I don't like it, you can't blame a hungry stomach" I defended and a smirk lingers around his lips as he pushes his plate forward for me to eat.

His eyes were fashioned against me, making me lose my composure over a meal.

"No, I'm full" I lied not taking my eyes off the meal as I was chewing my lips.

"Go on princess, don't be shy" he teased with a bright look on his face as I intended to take his plate but then my pride wouldn't let me.

"Well, what brought you to my house at such an uncalled hour?"

"It's noon?" He mutters as though I'm absurd to say that.

"We aren't married, and you're wanting to stay here? To spend the night?" I fired trying to hide the fact that I'm turning red, my heart is at rest and my eyes doesn't want to leave him alone.

Miles cock his head at me, having a neutral expression as he looked away from me.

I could see a quick smile on his lips as it's evidence that he's in awe by my sudden response.

"You want me to stay don't you?" He flirty asserts and then used a finger to wipe my mouth.

I shook a bit as that brief touch from his finger made me such my breath.

"No, what's wrong with you?" I argued flickering my eyes at him as I subconsciously drew something forward.

His plate.

"It's nothing, I just miss you"

"Liar" I said staring at his fingers over and over again. They were complete.

He rubbed his palm on his face and heaves a sigh as he watch me chew my lips again.

My hands, I'd blame them from snatching his meal.

"It's my parents, I...I just I don't know Belle why will someone stick to another who abuses them and call it love?" He asked anxiously as his face had grown more serious rather than that calm features he put on whenever we spoke.

It's like he's indirectly asking me. Why am I still letting him inside my heart?

Why am I still sticking to him with all the evidence available.

"Love" I said dropping my spoon and fetching his intense gaze. He squint his eyes and then crossed his arms over his chest.

My face grows wistful as every moment I've spent with miles lurks in my head.

His jokes, his smile, his touch, our petty arguments and my heart which has refused to accept the truth about who he is.
