Chapter 60: A confused side of me

Chapter 60: A confused side of me
Belle's POV

Perhaps, that's the word I've been missing. Perhaps, that's what I've been afraid of.

"Love can be so stupid that it blinds you from reality and even if he's the enemy, you can't help but want to protect him"

I was becoming emotional with every word I profess to him. Was that my problem?

It's devastating that I keep coming back to him, I feel safer around him, more like myself and…

"If he possess such traits! It's best she leaves him, living with a monster is horrible" he complains slapping his palm on the table and I jerked a bit from the table.

"But what if her whole world revolves around him?" I asked wanting to know his opinion as it seems he wasn't even understanding the point I was driving at.

Those eyes of his settled on the jar of milk which he pours into two glasses and handed one over to me.

"It's just a cranky saying, for peace of mind and to be alive, she should learn let go, it might be difficult..."

"What if she thought she could change him?"

"No, she can't, how much more is she willing to sacrifice just because she thinks she can change him? Just because she thinks he's different?" He counters not looking at me and accidentally I lost control, the glass in my hand drops and shatters to the floor.

Tears brewed up in my eyes as miles hurried towards me to clean up the mess.

"Princess, you're not yourself lately" he mutters with his words blurring out as he speaks.

But that last line that expresses more about my feelings to him was everything.

My eyes stared plainly at the wall in front of me, everything disappeared and I found myself floating in a whirlpool of confusion.

What do I truly want?

I felt his palms on my shoulders shaking me, to snap back to reality.

My gaze trail to his face as it turns out that he was in front of me now, worried over my silence.

"Princess" he muttered with concern in his eyes and I swallowed devastated by the turn of event.

"Make her divorce him" I said regaining my breath and looked at me, piqued by y sudden response.

"You're strange" he said judging from the way his eyes access me.

"She can't keep fooling herself or she'd end up facing the consequences"

He closed his eyes briefly, puzzled by my quick response as my eyes didn't flicker from him.

Those eyes of his searches my face, my hands and legs, making sure the pieces from the shattered glass didn't touch me.

I can see he's holding a napkin now and wondering why my sudden reply.

He bent slightly, wiping the milk stain from my short.

"Yes, yes, but first, you've got to stand up, let me clean up this place..."

"Or she kills him if he's the problem" I cut in, glaring into his eyes as the napkin falls from his hand.

He scoffed at me and then stood upright.

"Princess, you don't have to be violent resolve such issues"

"What if she has been trying to take him off her mind but he's just fixed there? Occupying her mind!"

I stood up facing him as he seems to be listening with only half attention.

I was intensed, trying to convey my point which seems to be absurd.

His gaze drift back to the broken glass and my words stumbled slightly under the weight of my growing frustration.

"Say something miles!" I said with an edgy voice as my eyes narrowed trying to drill into his understanding with my gaze.

"I only opened up to you but when you talk about killing, you sound like an assassin" he said as his mouth seems like a firm line, holding back words he might spill in irritation.

I stood straighter, my hands gesturing emphatically as I tried to physically bridge the gap I felt on our conversation.

"No one is dying, thanks for your advice but don't take it to heart" he said like he was divided and I felt I was talking into a void as my words weren't quite landing.

"Miles!" I called running my head as he cleans up the broken glasses and then paced towards my trash bin to dump it.

"Yes?"

"It's your parents right?" I said knowing that's what he meant.

He straightened his face and then inhaled.

"It's okay, I'm pushing it with a divorce, I'd just do something that exposes his crimes" he said with no emotions.

I can tell he needed to be consoled but I'm just the wrongest person to tell about this.

I wish I could tell it to him that it would be fine but then, I don't want to lose this pride inside me.

The way he looks at me just had me thinking that he should change this conversation just so we could fuck.

"Do you think it will work that way?" I asked more concerned as he looks sober but keeps putting on an excited face.

"Yeah, hopefully, you're a detective, you'd look up to somethings for me" he professes not looking at me but the table and I bite my lips.

I'm so horny now and i need him to go before I lose my mind.

"I think I've got some interesting news about him too and it will really be helpful to you since you love to ruin people"

"What? Is that what you tell people?"

He shrugged his shoulders and then lift his eyes to meet my startled gaze.

"It's the best description of you"
