Chapter 51 Falling unconscious again!
Chapter 51

Sophie's POV

It had been three long days since I was sent out of Julian's house. The weight of my weakness bore down on me, and I couldn’t bring myself to return. Each time I thought about it, a wave of nausea washed over me. The drug that had spiked my juice lingered in my system, leaving me wondering what it was and why it affected me so deeply.

"Soph, try eating, nah," Isabella said, her concern evident as she watched me pick on my food.

"I’m trying, but I just don’t have an appetite," I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

"You look frail. Julian won’t be happy if he sees what you’ve become in just three days," she pointed out, her eyes filled with a mix of sympathy and frustration.

Julian's name sent shivers down my spine. I missed him more than I cared to admit. I didn’t blame him for doubting me; he had endured heartbreak before, and I knew how painful that could be.

"Let me feed you," Isabella insisted, sliding next to me and taking the spoon from my hand. "Open your mouth."

I complied, and she scooped a spoonful of rice into my mouth. As I chewed, another spoonful followed, but the moment it hit my stomach, nausea surged through me. I waved my hand to stop her, bolting to the bathroom just in time to vomit everything I had just eaten. I felt empty immediately.

"You need to see a doctor, Soph. I am not happy with how weak you have become...you kept vomiting all the food you eat. And it's all that jerk's fault. How dare he spike your drink like that?" Isabella said, her eyes blazed with anger as she helped me rinse my mouth and splash some water on my face.

She guided me back to the room, her grip firm but gentle. "Will you at least drink some juice?" she asked, concern etched on her face.

I shook my head, feeling too weak to even consider it. "What about tea? You haven’t really eaten anything in three days," she pressed.

"No, I just want to sleep," I murmured, sinking back into the couch.

"Sophie, you really need to see a doctor," she insisted again, her voice rising slightly.

"I’m too weak right now, Izzy. I just need some rest. I’ll go when I wake up," I promised.

"Then don’t sleep here. Go into the bedroom," she urged, helping me to my feet. She led me to the bedroom and covered me with a blanket. "I hope Julian sees you like this. I’ll be back to take you to the hospital, okay?"

I nodded, grateful for her support, and closed my eyes as she left the house.

I had no idea when I drifted off, but a sudden banging on the door jolted me awake. Groggy and disoriented, I stumbled to my feet.

"Ah, fuck!" I muttered, clutching my head as dizziness swept over me.

After steadying myself, I walked to the door my legs weak as I opened it, only to find my worst nightmare standing there.

"Alex!" I gasped, my voice barely above a whisper.

"So you were hiding here all this time," he sneered, stepping closer and pinning me against the door.

I felt a chill run through me as our eyes locked. "We need to talk," he said, his voice low and dangerous.

"I have nothing to talk about with you," I shot back, trying to sound braver than I felt. He slammed his hand against the door, causing me to flinch.

"Do you think you can run away from me?" he taunted, a cruel smile spreading across his face.

"Let go of me," I screamed, attempting to wriggle free, but he tightened his grip on my wrists, pinning them against the door.

"Are you scared? Don’t be. I really wanted to go back to you. I wanted to try hard this time," he said, his tone sickly sweet.

"You don’t love me, Alex. You’re just obsessed with money," I spat, my resolve wavering as I felt my strength drain, and my legs going weaker.

"You treated me like crap, Sophie! It's true I like money. But isn’t it unfair that Julian is rich and I am not?" he retorted, his voice rising in anger.

"Because you don’t deserve to be rich. You’re trash meant to be discarded, not to live among humans," I said defiantly.

In a flash, he released my wrists and slapped me hard across the face, sending me to the ground. Dazed, I looked up at him as he crouched down, gripping my chin tightly to force me to meet his gaze. "Say it again!" he barked.

"You are trash, Alex!" I replied, my voice steady despite the fear clawing at my insides.

He responded with another vicious slap that sent stars dancing in my vision. I was too weak to fight back now, every ounce of strength drained from my body.

"This is the main reason you are trash. You’re a coward, hiding behind Victoria," I managed to say, trying to keep my voice firm.

He seized my throat, and I gasped for air, desperation creeping in as I felt myself slipping away. "Don’t you ever talk to me like that again, do you hear?" he growled, his grip tightening.

I clawed at his hands, struggling to breathe as darkness began to close in around the edges of my vision.

"Are you crazy?" I heard Isabella's voice cutting through the fog, faint but clear. I tried to open my eyes, but everything was hazy. I felt a sudden force as Isabella kicked Alex away from me. I crumpled to the floor, gasping as he released me.

"I swear I will kill you if anything happens to her," I heard Isabella threaten, her voice filled with fierce protectiveness as everything went black, and I fell into unconsciousness.
