Chapter 50 It's showtime!
Chapter 49

Victoria's POV

"Victoria! Victoria!!" The familiar voice jolted me out of my sleep. I tried to get back to sleep, but he kept shouting and barged into my room.

"What is it, Alex? Can't you see it's early?" I said, the sleep still holding me down.

"Are you supposed to be sleeping? I can't find Sophie," he said.

"What's that got to do with me? Am I the one who said you should lose her? Go check her house or something, and let me sleep peacefully." I pulled the blanket over my head.

He yanked the blanket off me. "I checked her house. She isn't there, and that's the only place she can be."

Ah! This must be my punishment for getting involved with someone like him.

"Don't you know any of her friends' houses? Just go there and let me be in peace for crying out loud," I said, my voice rising.

"Okay," he replied, his tone low and contemplative.

"She came to my house last night and threatened me. Apparently, their marriage was a contract marriage," I added as Alex turned to leave. He paused and sat on the bed beside me.

"She did?" he asked, surprise etched on his face.

"Yes, she did. And please leave. I want to get back to sleep; I have a long day ahead." He got up and left immediately. I planned to visit Julian today, not as someone who wants him, but as his comforter.

I was almost drifting back to sleep when a loud bang echoed through the room. Where the hell is Jaxon? And who is that wretch banging on my door?

I tried to ignore it, but the banging continued. With a grunt, I threw off the covers and stomped to the door.

I opened it, and my eyes locked with Isabella. Before I could say anything, she grabbed my hair and yanked me toward her.

"What the hell, Isabella?!" I shouted, trying to push her away. I succeeded in pulling her away but I could swear she pulled a great deal of my hair out.

"Don't act innocent, Victoria! You know exactly what you did!" she spat, her eyes blazing with fury.

I stumbled back, trying to regain my balance. "I don't have time for your drama. Whatever you think I did, it’s not my problem!"

"You think you can just walk away from this? Do you think you can ruin Sophie's life and get away with it? Karma is coming back for you. There's nothing you can do because Julian and Sophie are destined to be together," she hissed, stepping closer.

"I never ruined anybody's life. I only claimed back what belonged to me!" I shot back, feeling my anger rise. "And I guess you didn't know it was a contract marriage."

Isabella's expression hardened. "And so... what if it's a contract marriage?"

I crossed my arms, surprised at her reaction. I had thought she would be shocked. Did she know about the contract all along? "You knew about it?"

"And so? I know you can't deny the fact that they have become closer," she said. "Try all you can; you can never have Julian. He will never be yours. You already lost him from the start, and if anything happened to Sophie, i swear i will make sure to kill you in a painful way, starting from removing your teeth."

With that, she turned on her heel and stormed away, leaving me standing in the doorway, my heart pounding in my chest. What just happened?

"It's just an empty threat, Victoria. Don't think about it," I told myself.

I entered the house and sat on the sofa, my chin resting on my hand. Why did I have to get myself into this?

That was scary!

I touched my teeth imagining her removing them. I shook my head drastically, I can't let that happen.

Jaxon came in shortly, bowing slightly as he always did.

"Isabella came here," I said, meeting his eyes.

"Ma, about the restaurant, what should we do about it?" he asked, his tone serious, ignoring what I has said earlier.

"Right about that restaurant, I’ve forgotten everything about it... what should I do with it? Shall I just tear it down?" I replied, sighing as I ran a hand through my hair.

I got dressed and headed to my car. "I’m not sure if I’ll be back today; you can just go home and come back tomorrow," I said to Jaxon, who bowed and left.

Climbing into the car, I ignited the engine. I was going to comfort Julian. My plan was clear: start as the comforter and then make him fall for me.

As I drove into Julian's estate, the gatekeeper hesitated before opening the gate for me. I parked the car in the driveway and took a deep breath as I stepped out.

It's showtime!

I walked to the front door and opened it, finding Julian slumped on the sofa, surrounded by various bottles of alcohol. The sight tugged at my heart; he looked so lost.

"What are you doing here?" he asked, his voice low and edged with irritation as he saw me.

"Julian, I heard about what happened. I—"

"You haven’t answered my question; what are you doing here?" he cut me off, his voice rising slightly. "Aren't you supposed to be in California?"

"Yes, Julian. But I had to stay back because of some personal reasons," I replied, taking a seat beside him on the sofa, creating a little space between us. "I didn’t know Sophie was that type of woman. I mean, she looked innocent."

"Same as you. Nobody thought you would do the same thing. You women are all the same," he muttered, taking a long swig from a bottle, his expression darkening.

Seizing the moment, I moved closer and gently took the bottle from his hand. "I know, Julian. I know I was a bitch. But I’m a changed person now, I promise! You shouldn’t be drinking here. You have work to do, so please, for goodness' sake, stop drinking."

He didn’t respond, his gaze fixed on the bottles littered across the table. I set the bottle I had taken from him down.

"Sophie... she betrayed me!" he exclaimed, his voice shaking with emotion. I moved closer, tilting his head gently until it rested on my shoulder. To my surprise, he didn’t resist. Inside, I felt a rush of triumph.

"I understand, Julian," I murmured, lightly patting his arm.

Julian is mine now, Sophie! There's nothing you can do.
