Chapter 156 Leave My Life

Chapter 156 Leave My Life
“Where is Leon?”

Xavier approached me almost immediately, steering me farther away from where Liam was sitting. With every step we took, an unfamiliar dread tightened around my chest. Leon was a good boy. He would never deliberately do anything to get himself into trouble. He was considerate, hardworking, charming…

And I loved him. God, I loved him so much.

“Please, Xavier. Just tell me where Leon is.” I begged, unable to endure the uncertainty any longer. I grabbed his arms, trying to pull myself free, but his grip only tightened around me. “Please. Just tell me.”

“Leon was injured,” Xavier finally said. “We got into a scuffle with some thugs, and he was hurt.”

My heart dropped into my stomach.

My lips trembled.

There was something about hospitals that terrified me. The last time I had walked into one with a member of my family, they hadn't walked back out alive.

Even my father had ended up in a hospital, only to leave with a diagnosis that changed his life forever.

And now… my brother.

“Injured…” I whispered, barely able to get the word out. I had seen what happened to Liam’s face. If Leon wasn't here with us, then his injuries had to be much worse. “Please tell me he’s alive.”

“When we brought him in, he was alive, but…” Xavier's voice faded.

I saw the hesitation in his eyes, the words dying before they could leave his mouth.

“No.” I shook my head frantically. “Don’t.”

I couldn't hear it; Xavier cleared his throat. “The doctors are with him right now. I'm sure he'll be fine.” But his reassurance couldn't penetrate the terror already consuming me.

My vision blurred with tears, my legs suddenly gave out beneath me, and I crumpled to the floor.

I think I heard Xavier shout my name, but his voice sounded far away now—distant, muffled, distorted.

Everything around me began to blur.

The faces surrounding me stretched and twisted until I could barely recognize them.

It wasn't just Xavier anymore.

There were three other faces.

Then four.

Five.

They multiplied before my eyes, spinning around me as the room dissolved into darkness.

My eyes fluttered open towards a white, sterile ceiling greeted me, for a moment, I couldn't remember where I was.

Then I heard it.

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The soft, rhythmic sound of a heart monitor filled the room, steady and relentless, as I lay completely still beneath the harsh hospital lights.

“Lana…” Xavier rushed toward me, but before he could reach me, Christian caught hold of my hands.

“Are you okay?” they both asked at the same time. I blinked, still disoriented. I was about to ask what I was doing here, or where the hell I was, when Liam appeared beside me.

His wounds were already dressed, and the moment I saw him, everything came rushing back.

Leon.

My heart lurched.

“Where is Leon?” I asked immediately. “Is he okay? How is he?”

“He’s fine now, sis,” Liam assured me.

The enormous weight pressing against my chest finally lifted.

“He’s still unconscious, but the doctor said he’s going to be fine.”

“Thank God,” I whispered, pressing my palms together as relief washed over me. But the relief lasted only a second, because beneath it was anger.

Ever since these two had come into my life, the misfortune I had spent so long trying to escape had found its way back to me.

And now Leon was paying the price.

“This is all your fault!” I shoved Xavier away from the bed and jumped to my feet. Before anyone could stop me, I lunged at him, my hands curling into fists as I struck him again and again.

“Lana!” Liam grabbed me from behind, trying to pull me away.

“Let me go!”

“You need to calm down!”

“You two are nothing but trouble!” I screamed, hot tears spilling down my cheeks. “I tried to run away! I tried to stay away from both of you so I would never have anything to do with you again! So why the hell did you come back into my life?”

“Lana!” Liam struggled to restrain me, but I fought against his hold, twisting until I managed to reach Xavier again.

“This is your fucking fault!” My first slammed into his face, again, and again. “Just stay out of my life, damn it!”

“Please, wait—” Xavier didn't fight back, he didn't dodge.

He didn't even raise a hand to protect himself; he simply stood there and took every blow.

“He didn't cause this!” Liam shouted, finally managing to pull me away. “Lana, listen to me! Xavier didn't cause any of this. He was trying to help us. He was hurt because of us!”

But I was too furious to listen. Somehow, I ended up on top of Xavier, my fists raining down on his face.

His nose was bleeding.

There was blood at the corner of his mouth, and his face was already beginning to swell.

Christian finally managed to tear me away from him, lifting me effortlessly before dropping me back onto the bed.

I stared at Xavier through tear-filled eyes, he was bleeding. He hadn't dodged a single punch, hadn't tried to restrain me, he had simply let me hurt him.

“Please, stop. You need to calm down.” Liam wrapped his arms around me, holding me firmly against his chest. “This is actually my fault. If I hadn't fought in that ring, none of this would have happened.”

But even his words couldn't make me regret what I'd done, I didn't feel sorry for hitting Xavier.

He deserved every punch.

And if I could have gotten my hands on Christian, I would have hit him too.

“I think we should go,” Xavier said quietly. Christian nodded, both of them looking completely dejected.

Xavier glanced at Liam. “Please call me when you hear anything about Leon. If there's any improvement, let me know.”

“No!” My voice rang through the room.

“This is none of your business!” I snapped, glaring at them through my tears. “I don't want to see either of you anywhere near this hospital—or anywhere near my brother!”

I grabbed the pillow from the bed and hurled it at Christian.

It struck him squarely in the face.

“Leave!” My chest heaved as I pointed toward the door. “I never want to see either of you again.”

They simply stood there, staring at me with wounded expressions, but I didn't care about what they feel.

All I wanted was for them to leave my life—and never come back.
