Chapter 79 Caught you.
Isla’s POV.
Executives were already seated before we arrived at my father’s company.
No, my mother’s legacy.
Dante walked beside me, Iris, Josie, and the guards walked behind us.
Every step we took made me nervous. I hadn’t been myself since last night.
Dante didn’t hesitate with the shares deal.
Plans were already made, but my mind?
Why did I feel sad all of a sudden?
I didn’t sleep, I couldn’t. I sat by the window, watching the stars in the sky.
My body curled together, there was this cold that surrounded me.
Nobody hated my father more than I did. I’d get pissed at the mention of his name.
My mouth didn’t move, I just watched, while my mind was bleeding.
Countless questions and doubts ran through me.
My confidence, my strength, my vulnerability, I felt so empty.
Dante had tapped my shoulder when I almost drifted into a deep sleep.
“Isla? Are you okay, honey?”
My head lifted without hesitation, almost jumping off my chair.
He didn’t make a sound, and I never noticed.
“Hey,” I said, standing up.
“You are going through it, aren’t you?” He said, one hand grabbing mine.
“I’m fine, I just feel a little tired. How long have you been standing there?”
“Almost thirty minutes. I watched you fall asleep. Are you okay?”
We both walked to the bed and sat down.
There was silence between us for some moment.
He looked into my eyes, I tried to shy away.
“Do you think I can face him?” I finally asked.
“Why not? You’re gonna get what you deserve, honey.”
What do I really deserve? I no longer know what I deserve.
All I had always thought about was saving my siblings and my mother’s legacy.
There was never a moment that had to do with me.
“What do you think I deserve, Dante?”
His hand pulled me closer. “You deserve to be loved. You deserve everything good on earth.”
“Mmm,” a smirk left my throat. “Stop sweet talking me, okay.”
“But I’m being real with you, Isla. You don’t need to worry about facing him, okay?”
His hand brushed a strand of hair on my face, while he smiled.
“You know I’d burn the world to keep you. And I know you’ll do just fine without me.”
Dante’s words hit me hard.
“Do you have so much confidence in me? What if I fail?”
He slipped his hand into my hair. “You won’t. Not when I’m here.”
I walked in first, then Dante followed.
My father was seated on the head table, smirking.
Murmurs rippled through the air, all eyes were on us.
“What are you doing here?” My father asked, eyes on me.
“I heard you called for this meeting,” an executive said.
I let the silence in the room linger as I try to steady myself.
“Guards, hold him up,” Dante commanded.
Men on black suits rushed toward my father and pulled him up from the chair.
Dante directed his hand for me to sit.
Gasps rippled through the air.
“Are you out of your mind? You dare to sit down on the chair meant for the CEO? You must be crazy.”
“Young people these days don’t know how to respect their elders.”
“I want absolute quiet,” I said, waving my hand.
The room went quiet.
“From this moment onward, I’m taking over the position of the CEO of this company.”
Another gasp rippled through the air.
“You must be joking right? You can’t just call us here for some child’s play…”
Dante signaled his assistant to present the files for the transfer of shares.
He quietly distributed it to them.
“I own the biggest share in this company. Which means I belong here.”
My father’s face turned pale. “What the hell do you think you’re doing, Isla?”
“Taking what belongs to us,” Josie cut him off.
“Hahaha, belongs to you? Dreaming aren’t you? What makes you think they’ll believe you?”
“They don’t need to,” Dante said, “Anyone who doesn’t should get lost.”
“You can’t just make orders here because you’re married to my daughter…”
“He has every right to.” I cut him off. “Ohh, I have a big surprise for all of you.”
“What are you going to do? Don’t you dare, Isla..”
I slowly stood from my seat, walking toward him.
“Why don’t you tell them how you killed your wife and claimed everything that belonged to her?”
“That’s nonsense, why would I do that?”
“Tell them how you used your children for bargaining chip to fill the hole of your corruption in this company?”
“You can’t just accuse your father without an evidence?” Executive Anna said.
“Yes, you can’t just accuse me without evidence… who do you think will believe the nonsense coming out of your mouth?”
A bitter smile tugged at my face as I stood still.
“Why do you think I don’t have evidence to whatever I’m saying here today? Marco…”
Marco turned on the television and placed a USB into it.
“Sir, Madam has been taking the dose you prescribe for her every day, what if she dies? What if someone finds out? This is too dangerous…”
“No body’s gonna know. All you have to do is make her take the meds. Even if she dies, who would dare to care about it? We can just say she died of illness.”
The room turned coldl, My father opened his mouth but nothing came out.
“Surprised?”
“What? You killed your wife?”
“How can you be so heartless? You’re such a beast.”
“How dare you judge me? You have no right to judge me.”
“I found it very strange. How can someone fall ill and die all of a sudden? Turns out you were the one orchestrating everything. You don’t deserve to be seated here.”
“How did you find…” he held his words back.
“How did I get my hands on this video right?” A hum slipped my throat. “You did really hide it so well. Thanks to Josie. I wouldn’t have known what you actually did.”
He turned to Josie. “You little slut! I should have killed you along with your mother.”
“What did you say?” Josie shot back. “You did what? Killed my mother?”
I froze. Dante’s eyes locked on mine without flicking.
Iris jaw dropped, the whole executive members stared at each other’s faces.
“What did you do to my mother?” Josie rushed forward, grabbing onto his shirt.
