Chapter 61 BACK TO CHAOS

Chapter 61 BACK TO CHAOS
CHAPTER 61

GRACE'S POV
BACK TO CHAOS
I'm never going to drink soju ever again. The hangover from the next morning was bad. Lily made a hangover juice for me with oranges. It tasted good and did its job.

“Tell me not to drink again.” I told her while lying on the couch.

“You were too sad, and needed a push. You should be thanking me.” Lily says to me.

Lily's phone rings and she smiles looking at the screen.

“Someone's in love.” I said, smiling at her.

She covers her face and picks up the phone. “Hello, handsome.” she says in a sultry voice.

I just wished my love life was that simple. Reed checks in on her, gently shows his support for me. Their relationship is starting to spark up, I can sense protective energy and tension from him.

My mind goes back to Mrs Harley, who was going to dinner in Jeremy's house today. And I'm thinking how will Jeremy and Richard coexist together as brothers.

I want to meet Jeremy's father and ask him questions, but I can't go near him because of his recent illness. I'm sure he hates my guts more now.

Lily comes back humming a tune, but she pauses and stops abruptly.

“What happened?” I was confused.

“No, nothing really. We are going on a date.” she announced.

I looked at her surprised. “And why are you sad?” I asked her.

“I'm thinking, I'm being selfish again. When you and Jeremy are having problems.”

“Nonsense. Have fun, don't think about anything.” I cautioned her. “Do you need my help on anything?” I asked her.

Lily nods and looks at me. “Yeah, your pink lipstick.”

“You can have it, it's on my dresser.” I replied.

She goes up the stairs to her room to prepare. I'm thinking about a lot of things, but I didn't want to be obvious that I'm lost in thoughts.

I walked to the kitchen and put vanilla flavoured popcorn into the microwave. I watched as it popped and the aroma filled the room. I wanted to drink wine but I thought against it. I got everything ready for my movie night alone.

Lily came down after an hour of preparation, looking beautiful and smelling nice.

“Damn you look good.” I said excitedly.

She giggles and Reed comes knocking on the door. “You guys have fun.” I told her.

“We sure will.” She added walking to the door and I locked it.

I relaxed into the couch just trying hard, to have fun and not ruin my night. Because I was all alone here at home. I was watching the movie Xena Warrior Princess. Lily talks highly of it and I can see why.

Halfway into the movie a knock came on the door. It can't be Lily so I walked towards the door.

Looking at the peephole it wasn't Lily, but Mrs Harley. She was at my door and she looked like she's about to cry.

I opened it with a straight face, because I'm still mad at her.

“Can I come in, Grace?” she asked me.

I nod and she comes in, her floral scent feeling my nostrils. She sighs heavily before sitting down.

“Can I offer you anything?” I asked politely.

She shook her head and I sat down back to my movie.

“I'm sorry I lied and deceived you, Grace.” she began in a heavy voice. “I'm sorry, it's just that he wants to take him away from me.”

“Who?” I asked her with a frown.

“The Mayor, Richard.” she says smiling. “You know we both have a history.”

“I'm so sorry.” I said, I was really not interested.

“I had two sons. Richard and Ryan.” She paused and wiped her nose. “Ryan, couldn't take the truth, he killed himself.”

Jeremy's father never acknowledged my boys, because the shame of our affair broke his marriage.”

“You had an affair with him, but….”

“You thought I was a saint. Come on, Grace. You believe that.” she said smiling with a sad eye.

“You were perfect in my eyes. You were grounded and had everything under control.” I told her.

She laughs, “Grace, life's drama. We all pretend.”

“What are you going to do?” I asked her.

“I don't know, I'm tired. He only returns when he wants something. And what he wants is never good.”

“I'm sorry about your…”

“Don't be. I deserve it, that's my punishment.” she says and stands up. “I'm sorry for dumping on you like that.”

I looked at her critically, she still had her beads. “You can stay longer, if you want.”

“No, I feel much better now.” she told me.

I walked her to the door and she left. I went back to my movie, I wasn't feeling it anymore.

I turned it off and walked up to my room. I showered and watched as the wind howled. I missed my own house so much.

I could hear Lilly knock on the door. She was back so fast, did anything happen.

I wasn't properly dressed, I had my towel tied on my chest.

“You're home early.” I told her once I opened the door.

She sighs and comes in with a frown. “He's really not mine. I get to share him with everyone.” she announced.

“Sorry, I'm sure it was serious.” I added.

I rushed off to my bedroom, to properly get dressed and meet her downstairs. But I was halfway wearing my shirt, when she yelled my name.

“Grace, you need to see this.”

I walked down almost tripping on the stairs. This had better be good, I thought to myself.

“Grace, you need to see this.” she says again.

She held out her phone, it was a social media post. By Lana Morrison, my stomach churned before I read it.

The image showed a dining room, well lit and it was Jeremy's house. Because I could make out his father's face.

They both took a selfie together, with a caption that made my stomach twist.

Dinner with my man, some men can't help coming back to where they belong.

My heart skipped a beat, I was genuinely afraid. Lily looked at me, horrified.

“Grace, what the hell is this?”

The room was spinning so much that I nearly tripped. Lily's phone buzzed with a call, and she answered it. But the look on her face was saying another thing.
