Chapter 62 EVIL WALKED IN
CHAPTER 62

GRACE'S POV
EVIL WALKED IN

My body froze when I saw the look of horror on her face. Lily walks towards me, eyes fully wide. “Grace, Ryan just posted bail today.”

For that moment the room shifted under me, my palms became sweaty but I'm hot also. But it's cold everywhere.

But then I nod slowly because I didn't want her to see me crumble. “I'm fine, this is a safe place, because he won't come back here.”

But inside me, I was really shaking with fear again.

Lily touched my arm. “I'm not letting you out of my sight.” I nodded very stiffly.

That night I couldn't sleep at all. Anytime I close my eyes, I'll see Ryan's face like a threat. If I'm not seeing his face, I'm seeing Lana's face. Perfect, polished and beautiful face.

She fits into Jeremy's world so perfectly, than I could ever be.

I made a huge mistake checking out her social media handle, it was a huge slap on my face.

She's always wearing high end fashion, posing beside luxury cars, surrounded by powerful people, tagged in charity and social events, her skin is glowing, her hair perfect, she's so flawless.

“She's beautiful,” I whispered to myself. “She's rich, so grounded, and scandal free. She is the type of woman Jeremy's father will acknowledge.”

I was hurt so I shut off my phone, and went to bed with an ache in my heart.

The next day Lily watched me like a guard dog. We were sorting books when Mrs Harley came towards us.

“Richard is with his dad now,” she says quietly. “I told him to come back last night, but he refused.”

Lily grips a shelf tight. “Is that even okay?”

Mrs Harley sighs. “Yes, it is. He's his father after all.”

The unease in the room was heavy. The day went by in a blur. By the time I'm getting out of the library with Lily. I feel the hair on my neck stand, it's as if someone's watching me.

I turned around to look, but there was nothing there. It was just the street and people passing. But something wasn't right, my heart was beating fast.

Lily touches my back, startling me. “Are you okay?”

“It's nothing,” I whispered. “Just nothing.”

But it wasn't nothing because that feeling followed me as we got into the car. Someone's out there watching me again.

“Grace, what are you going to do about Lana?” she asked me.

“What can I do Lily? His father hates me.” I paused my chest tightening. “I can't deal with that.”

Lily sighs with a frown on her face. “So, you're going to….. To leave for both of them.”

“I'm tired of pretending I'm strong. I'm tired. Besides, I can't compete with her, she's so perfect and fitting for him.”

Lily looked at me briefly like I was crazy. “Ehm no, Grace. You're wrong there, she's not better than you. Besides, Jeremy loves you.” she added.

“Does he? He doesn't want to talk to me.” I said bitterly.

Lily exhales and takes a sharp turn. “He still loves you, just mad that's all.”

“Let's change the topic, it's depressing.” I said remembering Lana's photos.

“Are you hungry?” She asked me while she was still driving.

“Yes, tacos.” I replied.

“Okay.”

I shut my eyes shortly to calm my racing thoughts. Lily taps me to wake me up, we are home. I got down from the car and Lily suddenly stopped.

“Oh, shoot! I forgot to pick up those tacos.
Let me hurry back, and you go inside. It'll be just ten minutes.”

I don't want to be alone, not tonight when I'm panicky. But I didn't want to show her how scared I was about Ryan.

“It's okay,” I forced a smile. “I'll be fine, just hurry back.”

She hesitates, then nods and gets into the car. I inhaled, unlocked my door and got inside.

It was quiet inside, too quiet I set the keys down. I froze because someone was sitting on my couch. I got closer and my blood ran cold, it was Ryan that animal.

He faces me slowly, smiling like a predator enjoying the moment before the kill.

“Hello, Gracie.”

My hands trembled, my legs weakened. “Ryan, what are you doing here?”

He stands up and takes a step closer. “You didn't visit me,” he says casually, like we were friends. “You didn't answer my calls. I'm sure you didn't miss me.”

Fear gripped me but I didn't let him see it. “Get out!” I yelled at him breathing fast. “Don't come close to me.”

His smile widens. “No. I just want to remind you that I own you.”

I tried to run but he grabbed my hair, yanking me so hard that I screamed. He throws me against the wall, my vision blurs. I was seeing stars.

“Ryan, stop it. Let go of me.” I screamed.

He doesn't stop, he doesn't listen to me. He tears my clothes, slaps my face, he violates and destroys me like he used to. He did it over and over, until I couldn't scream anymore. Why isn't anyone coming to save me? I thought. Jeremy please save me.

I didn't know how long it went on. I was in so much pain, that time blurs for me.

And then he finally pulls away from me, breathless, happy and smiling. He was shaking with triumph, he grabbed my jaw violently.

“I know you loved it. Your screams said it all.” he whispers to me. “I'll be back everyday to remind you, Gracie.”

He wipes his hand on my dress, like I'm trash to him. He just walks out casually like he visited his friend. The door clicked shut and I cried out in pain.

I crumbled to the floor, crying and wishing that I'd just die. I can't continue living like this. I tried reaching for my phone, but pain shot through my body.

I just lay back crying wishing that someone would just come to my rescue. Lily comes walking into the house.

“Grace, where are you? I'm back with the tacos.” she says dropping her bag. “I'm sorry for taking time, they messed up my order, they had to redo it.” she says again.

I closed my eyes and called her out weakly. “Lily, I'm over here.”

Lily follows my voice, and sees me lying, beat up and crying on the floor.

“Grace, who did this to you?” she asked in shock.
