Chapter 68 She Said She Would Win, I Believed

Chapter 68 She Said She Would Win, I Believed

Ava took two deep breaths, turned to look at Gilbert and said, "Gilbert, thank you, but I really do have something to do with him at the Thomas Villa today."

Gilbert looked at her for two seconds without saying anything.

Meanwhile, the frost on Joshua's face gradually melted away, and his deep eyes stared at Gilbert with a hint of smugness.

......

Joseph had just returned to the hospital when he heard that Ava's director position had been put on hold, and that which doctor in the cardiology department would get it would be decided by a vote from everyone in the hospital.

The news spread like wildfire, and within an hour, almost everyone in the hospital knew about it.

When Joseph first heard this, he didn't believe it. He thought it was ridiculous - who would dare touch the director he had personally appointed? But when he asked who said it, someone told him that Hawk and Barry were waiting for him in his office.

On his way back to the office, Joseph heard many rumors about this matter, and they were quite outrageous. Some even said that if Ava couldn't get the director position back, she would leave the hospital.

Joseph stopped in his tracks, feeling like he was about to lose it. This was too much - the person he had worked so hard to bring back was going to leave.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. Nearly sixty years old, he kicked open the office door and rushed in, wishing he could crack open their heads to see if they were filled with mud.

"You two idiots, have you lost your minds?"

Both Hawk and Barry had expected Joseph to get angry about what they did, but given their friendship, they thought he'd just scold them a bit - no big deal. They didn't expect him to be this furious, his mouth open so wide it looked like he wanted to swallow them whole.

Was it really worth it over just one Ava?

"Foolish, absolutely foolish! Who gave you permission to do this?" Joseph was so angry his fingers were trembling.

Being pointed at and scolded at over sixty years old, Barry got angry too. He felt even more strongly that Joseph had lost his mind, and said irritably, "You're the one who's gone senile. A direct promotion to director - what were you thinking?"

"I have my reasons for doing this. Ava is qualified for this position." Joseph was so worked up that his voice got louder, and even with the office door closed, people outside could hear.

It was rare for Joseph to get this angry, and the doctors passing by outside exchanged glances with each other.

"She's qualified? There are plenty of doctors more qualified than her! If you're so capable, promote them all." Barry banged on the table loudly, his voice just as booming and unyielding.

Joseph was so angry he let out a cold laugh. "What do you know? If you drive her away, I'm not done with you two."

"Joseph, is it really worth it? What's her background that you'd go this far? Besides, since she came, I've heard all kinds of gossip spreading around the hospital. If she leaves, the hospital will be peaceful again."

Having lived most of his life, Barry wasn't going to be scared by a few words. He naturally didn't take it seriously.

Joseph was so angry his fingers were trembling. "Those kids are just making trouble. You two aren't young either - you believe that stuff? If she wasn't capable, would I have brought her in?"

"Capable? She's certainly good at talking big. She even said she would definitely win. I just don't believe it."

"She said that?" Joseph raised his eyebrows.

Barry curled his lips, thinking Joseph's expression meant he also thought Ava was talking big. He replied, "Yeah."

"She's quite sharp-tongued. Guess what she said? She said she would prove to everyone with one cured patient after another, one successful surgery after another, that the director position must be hers.

Just for saying that, I did think more highly of her at the time. But with me, you have to back it up with real ability - you can't just be good with words. If she really has the skills, let her win this position and show us. We'll support her without a second word."

Whether it was Hawk or Barry, they had always valued ability - that was true. They weren't deliberately making things difficult for Ava. If Ava really had the skills, that would be great for both the hospital and the patients, and they would have no reason to object.

Listening to this, Joseph smiled and said meaningfully, "Worthy of being someone he values."

"What are you talking about?"

"Just wait and see. She'll win."

"What makes you so sure? The current situation is very unfavorable for her."

"Didn't she say so herself? She'll win."

"You believe her?"

"I believe her!" Joseph said confidently.

Barry laughed and said to Hawk, "He's lost it."

"What, you don't believe it? Then let's wait and see." Since things had already developed this way and Ava had personally agreed, Joseph chose to trust Ava's choice.

"You two just watch. Her medical skills will be a surprise beyond your imagination."

The two exchanged glances. Ava's credentials were right there - not enough to make them believe.

The Thomas Villa.

When they arrived at the Thomas Villa, the sound of conversation came from the huge living room. Xavier and Ursa happened to be there, along with another richly dressed woman - Ava had seen her before, she was Mia's mother, Katya.

Joshua went to park the car. Ava walked into the hall with Mia, expressionless. The people talking on the sofa all froze for a moment.

Although Ava didn't want to engage in fake pleasantries with them, she couldn't just ignore these people and go straight upstairs when visiting someone's home. Carrying her medical bag with a calm expression, she greeted them politely and appropriately, "Mr. Xavier Thomas, Mrs. Ursa Thomas."

"Mr. Xavier Thomas, Mrs. Ursa Thomas." Mia walked toward the people on the sofa with a bright, appropriate smile on her face.

"Mom." Mia sat down next to Katya. "Why did you come?"
