Chapter 214 Who Exactly Is the Real Cynthia?

Chapter 214 Who Exactly Is the Real Cynthia?

This woman actually remarried Joshua so quickly. Now her chances are even smaller. Damn it.

This means she absolutely can't let this bitch have her way.

"Ms. Davis, you're basically gambling with Grandpa's life. We know you have skills, but dare you say your abilities can match Dr. Cynthia's?" Lika questioned loudly. "If your abilities can't match Dr. Cynthia's, please stop being so stubborn. Everything is for Victor's good. Please don't just think about your own interests."

Ava lifted her eyes, a cold light flashing in them. "Speak plainly. Who are you putting on this act for with all these roundabout remarks?"

Lika ground her teeth fiercely. "If I heard correctly, Ms. Davis is competing for the department head position, right? Now that you're at the critical moment of your competition, you need a major surgery to build your reputation, so that's why you're determined to get this surgery. Am I wrong?"

Ava's eyes were cold and piercing. "Ms. Ellis, what eloquence - a few words and you've painted me as selfish and self-serving."

"I didn't say that. I'm just stating the facts." Lika's momentum didn't diminish at all. She'd been back in the country for so long and this bitch had gotten the better of her at every turn. She was really going crazy.

"I know Ms. Davis values the department head position. I won't compete with you. If you want it, you can have it, but I really should be the lead surgeon this time." Claire spoke up with a troubled expression.

"No competition needed - the department head position was hers from the start." A low, serious voice came from the doorway.

Joseph walked in with several deputy directors. He first greeted Victor respectfully, then looked at Lika.

"I think Ms. Ellis has misunderstood. The department head position was Dr. Qin's from the beginning. It was only due to certain reasons that she voluntarily proposed a voting competition.

We've all witnessed Dr. Qin's capabilities and skills at the hospital these past few months. I believe she has sufficient ability to perform this surgery well."

Clearly, Director Lin's position was absolutely in support of Ava.

Lika narrowed her eyes. Even Director Lin was coming out to speak for this bitch.

Where did this bitch get such influence?

Thea looked at Claire. Wasn't she the famous Cynthia? Why would Mr. Miller trust Ava instead of her?

Lika clenched her jaw tightly. She refused to believe that no matter how capable Ava was, she could be better than Cynthia, who ranked first in the medical world.

She lifted her chin and said, "Mr. Miller, I personally disagree with what you're saying. No matter how capable Ms. Davis is, she's only within your hospital, but there are always people better than you, and Cynthia, who ranks first on the world rankings, is absolutely incomparable. I believe you're certainly clear about this."

"If Ms. Ellis wants to put it that way, I can only say let their abilities speak for themselves."

Lika raised her eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

"Regarding Victor's condition and surgery, both doctors will submit a critical case analysis paper and surgical plan, including post-operative treatment, care, and recovery. The surgical plan alone can show a doctor's basic capabilities. Three days' time. Whoever has the better plan will be the lead surgeon."

Joseph glanced at Ava. Ava's clear eyes responded with a smile and a nod.

"What about Dr. Cynthia?" Joseph looked coldly at Claire standing to the side.

"I..." Claire's expression faltered. She ground her teeth anxiously. Ava's papers and surgical plans had already reached perfection four years ago. Even her mentor had praised them repeatedly, admitting he couldn't match them.

How could she possibly compare?

If she agreed, wouldn't she just be shooting herself in the foot?

Damn it.

Claire lowered her head and considered all the consequences, but still didn't have the courage to accept the challenge.

Ava tugged at the corner of her lips slightly. "What's wrong? Is Dr. Cynthia unwilling or afraid?"

Claire kept gritting her teeth in distress.

Lika's eyes widened. She wasn't stupid - she could see Cynthia's nervous expression at a glance.

What was going on? Logically, a doctor at her level facing an unknown doctor like Ava - how could she possibly be flustered?

What the hell was this Cynthia up to?

Lika collected herself and walked a few steps toward Claire. "Dr. Cynthia, I believe you'll have no problem."

What "no problem"? This was a huge problem. Was this woman brain-damaged? What did this have to do with her? Why did she have to come out and say something? Busybody, now she was completely stuck.

"In that case, it's settled." Joseph didn't give Claire any more chance to refuse, making the final decision.

Claire's heart sank, the panicked look in her eyes impossible to hide.

"Good, I'm also looking forward to Dr. Cynthia's masterpiece." Ava smiled slightly.

Claire clenched her hands, forcing out an awkward smile stiffly.

Lika grew even more suspicious. She smiled slightly and said respectfully to Victor, "Victor, rest well. I won't disturb you anymore."

Lika walked a few steps toward the exit, then stopped and turned back to look at Claire. "Dr. Cynthia, I have something to discuss with you. Can you come out with me?"

Claire's mouth twitched as she strode out with Lika, her steps so heavy it was as if she wanted to shatter the floor.

"What do you want?" Claire's tone was unfriendly.

Lika rolled her eyes at her, looking Claire up and down. No matter how she looked at this woman, she didn't seem like someone very capable.

Crude behavior, simple-minded, all brawn.

Lika's eyes narrowed slightly. "Are you really Cynthia?"

Claire's eyes widened, and her gaze flickered as she looked at Lika. "Of course I am. Why are you asking this?"

"Why are you nervous?"

Claire's body trembled. "I'm not nervous. What nonsense are you talking about?"

Lika looked at Claire's expression, growing more certain of her suspicion.

"Fine, then let me ask you - why is Joseph so cold toward you, this Cynthia? If you're Cynthia, why would Joseph trust Ava instead of you just now? And let me ask you again - why didn't you dare to accept just now? Even though I don't follow the medical field closely, I've heard of Cynthia's abilities. A simple analysis paper and surgical plan would be a piece of cake for Cynthia.

Why did Ava dare to accept without any pressure, but you didn't dare?" Lika grabbed Claire's wrist and shouted, "Speak!"

"You psycho, let go of me." Claire struggled to shake off Lika's hand, but was no match for her at all.

Claire's panicked expression had already given Lika her answer.

"You're not Cynthia at all!"

"You!"

"Who is the real Cynthia?" Lika frowned. For some reason, when she learned she wasn't Cynthia, a strong sense of crisis surged in her heart.

"I am Cynthia."

Claire was still being stubborn and refused to admit the truth.

Lika slapped Claire across the face and grabbed her collar. "Bitch, you dared to deceive me back then, and now you still dare not tell the truth."

If she had known she wasn't Cynthia, she would never have dared to recommend her to Victor. If this incompetent waste was exposed, she would be implicated too. She was really going to be ruined by this idiot.

"Let go of me."

"Shut up, you useless fool." Lika covered Claire's mouth and dragged her to a place with fewer people.

"What, what do you want to do?" Claire kept turning her head trying to call for help. Seeing no one around, she looked at Lika in terror.

"Tell me who the real Cynthia is?" Lika stared at Claire viciously.

"I, I don't know."

Lika grabbed Claire's chin. "Do not lie to me. Speak up!"
