Chapter 63!
Ezra POV:
Coming up with a plan and finding this damn house in the cursed lands was harder than expected. With only an image of what to look for finding this place took longer than I wanted it to.
Tonight is the full moon, which means I don’t have a lot of time left. We get to the house only to find that it’s completely empty.
“Fuck,” I yell smashing the door off the frame. She should be here. Where the hell is everyone?
“Sir,” one of my guards tries to get my attention. I turn to glare at him. He hesitates to speak. “Sir, there is a trail of blood leading into the forest. It’s possible that she escaped and it’s her blood.”
“Ezra, I think it is Elise’s blood. We should follow the trail,” Tae says, coming to stand beside me. “If we follow the trail then we will find her. She must have not gotten far since the blood is not dry yet.”
“But what if it’s a trap? This seems odd that no one is around when they should be. The whole place is deserted,” I say.
“Ezra, we’ve run out of time. This is our last chance or we just might be too late,” he says.
That’s when I feel her pain. Legs screaming out in protest at every step she takes. I can feel her weakening. She has no hope left in her.
“Let’s go,” I ordered.
We set out into the forest following the trail of blood. She has lost so much. I can only hope that we can truly heal her once we get to her. She means everything to me. I can’t lose her again.
As the sun begins setting I can feel we’re getting closer. I sent out a message to her, letting her know that I’m coming. I need her to have some hope. She needs to know I haven’t forgotten about her.
As more time passes I notice the moon has risen high in the sky. I push myself to go faster. I have to get to her. That’s when I hear the blood curdling screams.
My heart drops when. It’s Elise and I fear I have gotten to her too late. I break out running. I get to a clearing and I see people all around.
Elise is being lifted into the air by what looks like a black cloud of smoke. She is screaming out in pain. A man walks towards her with a dagger in his hand.
“My people,” he addresses the crowd. “We finally get to witness our victory today. Her power is ours. Next is Ezra’s and the whole kingdom.”
He turns and that's the one person I never thought I would see again. Kage, that son of a bitch.
He turns towards Elise once more. His daggered hand reaching up. I send out a surge of power so fast that multiple people stagger. I got to Elise so fast that no one even knew to move to stop me.
I slam my body into Kage and knock him down. I stand in front of Elise.
“You really thought you could achieve this? Did you think I would just let her go so easily,” I barked into the crowd. “She is mine.”
I turn and grab Elise. Her body feels so fragile in my arms. Her body now limp from passing out. I spread out my wings.
Before I take off I signal to my men. They will take care of the rest while I take care of my girl. I can’t leave them without a gift.
A smirk spreads across my face as I take in Kage’s angry form.
“She’s already tethered to us,” he chuckles. “We’ll just find her again.”
“That is where you are wrong,” I say. I look down at her face. I lean down and kiss her lips. With this it seals our connection. The tether breaks and her body is now free of harm.
Power surges through my body. I look up at the crowd of people. I infiltrate their minds, at least those nearest to me. They fall to the ground and scream while holding their heads.
“I’m the strongest and powerfulest faeries here other than Elise. Together we are unstoppable. You are nothing compared to us. Your dark magyck is nothing,” I say. Then I flap my wings and take off.
I fly as fast as I can. I need to get her to Ravenloft as soon as I can. Her body is too weak. She needs to be healed before it’s to late.
I get to Ravenloft a few hours later. I run into my castle ordering the guards to bring the healer. I take Elise upstairs to a bedroom. I lay her on the bed.
Her body is full of wounds, both new and old. Bruises peek out everywhere. The color of her hair is lifeless. It’s matted and caked in blood and possibly dirt.
I place her hand in mine. I failed to keep her safe. The healer enters the room. I began to let her hand go.
“Ezra,” my name falls off her lips so gently.
