Chapter 64!

Ezra POV:

I hold onto her hand as the healer does his work. She has this effect that seems to calm me. If I had let go of her hand I would have flown back and ripped everyone’s heads off.

“Sir, she’s healed. She’ll need to be cleaned up. But she’s going to be weak for a while. She may also need a lot of help. She went through something really traumatic,” the healer explains as he finishes his job.

I reluctantly let go of her hand and walked into the bathroom. I fill up the tub with warm water and add some essential oils along with some soap. I set out a fluffy towel for her. Then I walk into the closet attached to the bathroom and grab her some clothes. I have this place all set up for her. Clothes, shoes and anything else she could possibly need.

If only I had finally given this room to her in other circumstances. She deserved so much better and I wasn’t able to give that to her. My heart aches knowing what she went through.

I walk back to the room and watch her. Her body is covered in blood. Her hair matted and filthy. Bruises line any visible skin. A tear rolls down my face.

“That’s shocking to see,” I hear Tae say from the doorway to the room. “You didn’t even cry when your parents were killed.”

“My heart aches for her. The moment I placed my lips on her something changed. I feel more connected to her,” I tell him.

“It’s because you're destined to be together. All of you will ache for her whenever she’s not around. But you need to learn to be patient with her. Things will be different once she wakes up. She’ll push you away. She’ll ask for Kyros,” he says.

I wave him off and walk towards Elise. I pick her up and take her to the bathroom. I help her out of the bloody rags she has on as a dress. My heart drops as I see the rest of the damage to her body. Pink lines now stand where there were cuts to her body.

Gently placing her into the water, I hold her up with one hand. The other hand grabs the wash cloth near me. I dip it into the water and then begin washing her body. I take my time, making sure to be extra gentle in certain areas.

“Things are going to be tough for a while. But nothing we can’t handle. I will make sure you overcome this trauma. I will be here for you in any way you want me. I will do better but make sure not to push me away,” I tell her.

I know she can’t hear me right now with her being asleep. Her body needs time to finish healing. I finished getting her cleaned up. I pull her out of the water that now is the color red. Reaching for the towel I get her wrapped up.

I got her dressed and laid back down. If she wasn’t covered in bruises she would look peaceful sleeping. I should have brought her back sooner. She wouldn’t have been tortured if I had.

“Don’t be too hard on yourself. She is safe now. She is where she belongs,” I hear Tae behind me.

“But she would have been safe if I had brought her here before,” I argued.

“Would you have forced her? She didn’t want to come with you. She would have hated you for taking away that option,” he says. I know he’s right but I won’t admit that. “We should discuss what happened.”

I force myself to walk away from Elise. We walk down stairs to my office. I take a seat and wait for him to talk.

“Kage got away before we could get to him, so did a few others. He’ll be hiding out for a while. I had some guards burn down the house and any house in the surrounding areas. I also stationed guards in Dark Bane pack for now. If he or any of his people show up there we will instantly know,” he says.

“What did you do to those you caught,” I asked him.

“Those who caught back were killed. The others are down in the cells. You can choose what happens to them. Or you can let Elise pick,” he says.

“I want Kage found. He crossed a huge line that he will never be able to come back from,” I say, my fists tightening.

Rage fills my body when the image of him getting ready to stab the dagger into Elise pops up in my head. To think he was once someone I trusted the most.

“He’s different. He’s no longer the Kage we once knew. His mom really got to him. She filled his head with that bullshit. Do you think he has dark magyck running through his veins now,” Tae asked me.

“I don’t doubt it. They wanted Elise’s magyck. They were going to suck her power out. He will try to find another way to tether her powers to him. We need to find him,” I say, slamming my hands on the desk.

“I will get a group of men and we’ll search everywhere. But Ezra you need to stay here. What if Elise wakes up and you’re not here? She needs you to comfort her. She needs you to help her if she will let you,” he says.

I nod my head. She will trust me one day. I will make sure she is shown the love she deserves. I won’t fail her this time.

“I’m going back up to her. I want to be in the room in case she wakes up,” I tell Tae. I leave him in my office and go back upstairs.

I enter her room where she still lays sleeping on the bed. Her hair has that lifeless look to it. She begins to whimper. I reach out and graze my fingertips along the side of her face.

“I will never let anything bad happen to you again,” I whisper.
