Chapter 14 Do you f*ck your wife?
CHAPTER 14
DARIUS POINT OF VIEW.
I lost myself the moment she turned to me and our eyes met.
Everyone was here, everyone, including my wife Seraphina and other pack members. But I just stood there, carried away by the beauty in front of me as I watched her speak.
Every word that left her lips was perfect; there was something dangerous in the calm of her voice, a kind of quiet that demanded everyone to listen.
She strutted forward in just her jeans and a t-shirt that clung to her tiny waist. She didn't have any makeup on,she was the most casual I had ever seen any woman be in front of everyone.
And goodness, with no jewels, no glitter, or makeup, she was gorgeous.
Her beauty commanded attention just as her sexy eyes did.
The air in the room seemed to shift when she moved. It felt like the room adjusted to her rhythm while everyone else fell out of tune.
I can't say if it's admiration or desire right now, but either way, I want her all to myself.
“The pack wants a responsible man. And the yardstick for responsible is being married and being able to lead your family, dear Alpha,” she started to school me as usual. “You're married to one of the most beautiful women in the werewolf kingdom, Alpha Darius. You can't hide her when it's time for war. Take her out and flaunt her. Use her as a weapon.”
A low scoff escaped my lips at the compliment, and I’m sure she noticed.
Trying to hype up Seraphina doesn’t cut it for me. Blair would always be the most beautiful in all of the werewolf kingdom.
“I won't vote for a man who stands in the election grounds alone and hides his wife,” she continued. “That only means one thing…”
There was a pause in her words, and the tension heightened. “You’re not on good terms with the Luna of the pack. Do you even fuck your wife?”
Gasps rippled throughout the room, and murmurs only increased.
But Blair isn't one to care. She continued, “We want to see a happy family,we want to see a happy man and not a lone wolf. We want to see chemistry when you walk out to that podium. That's the only way the people can vote for you, Alpha Darius.”
My lips curled into a smile as I watched her,I didn't argue.
Everything is right as long as it comes out of Blair's mouth.
The way her lips pressed together and she tilted her head to the side, staring blankly at me, waiting for me to answer the one question she knew the answer to, was just funny.
My eyes glanced around, and everyone was staring at me. But who cares what they think? I'm smiling while I let a woman talk down on both me and my marriage.
“Alpha Darius, I just asked you a question,” Blair narrowed her gaze back to me, blinking hard.
Exhaling, I ran my hands through my hair. “I need the room, everyone. I need to speak with Blair alone.”
I watched Seraphina's eyes go wide at my request. She hesitated for a minute, and it felt like she wanted to argue and stay back, but my agents cleared the room for me in a few minutes.
Once everyone was gone, I walked toward the one woman I loved, and she folded her arms, that stubborn look crossing her face immediately.
“Darius, that wasn't needed,” she said. “Clearing the room wasn't necessary.”
“You don't know why I did it?” I asked.
Her eyes narrowed at my face. “No, I do not know a thing.”
I took another step, close enough to feel her breath now. “I did it because of you,” I whispered.
She blinked, a little surprised. “Because of me? And what do I have to do with your campaign?”
My lips curled into a smile, the type I knew she hated. “I took Seraphina off because of you.”
Her eyes widened, and she stared at me in disbelief.
“Next week, when we walk out on that campaign ground, I want it to be you beside me. You and I standing together as mates again. We’ll unify our bond publicly and fulfill what the moon goddess made us for.”
She let out a cold laugh, one laced with disbelief, then shook her head. “You're joking, right? Right? I know you're joking, Darius…”
“I am not!” I announced firmly, my eyes locked on hers. “I am not joking….. I'm serious.”
“D-Darius—”
“Your ex-husband,” I cut in, “Dominus brought his mate out of a shithole and is parading her around to win hearts and votes. Why can’t I do the same? Why can’t I show them you, my mate?”
Her lips parted slightly, but she said nothing. I could see the fight in her eyes. She glanced at me and then scoffed.
“You really don’t know how this works, do you?” she said at last, her voice trembling. “You really believe you can win that way?”
Her voice was rising, and I saw how agitated she was becoming, but all I was interested in was those lips. I moved closer. She stepped back until her hips brushed the edge of the table.
“Darius,” she warned huskily, “don't—don't come any closer…”
My hand found her waist, firm but not forceful. “There are no cameras here, Blair. Just you and I alone.”
“D-Darius… D-don’t—”
“Then kiss me,” I murmured, my gaze fixed on her.
She looked away at once, her hands serving as the only barrier between my chest and her breasts.
“Darius, people are outside,” she whispered breathlessly. “We're in the middle of something important, and all you think about is—”
She didn't finish. I didn't let her finish…
