Chapter 15 A kiss!
CHAPTER 14
BLAIR POINT OF VIEW.
He didn't let me finish. Before the words rolled out of my mouth, Darius's lips met mine in a hot kiss. His hands wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer to him.
For a moment, I couldn't control myself. I thought I would,I thought I could push him away, but my body betrayed me. I leaned in, letting his hands wrap around my waist as his tongue found its way into my mouth in not a soft kiss.
A rough one—a hot, rough, and possessive kiss that left me breathless in its wake. I'm not supposed to be doing this.
We are not supposed to be doing this. Ronan might just walk in on us this way.
Or Seraphina, the Luna of the pack, might walk in on us. Even his agents could walk in. We're not supposed to be this close to each other, not even for a damn minute. I'm married, and he is married.
Dominus might not give two fucks about me, but I'm still his wife on paper.
We're both married, and we should be far away from each other, but my body can't resist.
And his hands can't leave me either. For a split second, I wanted to stop it; I wanted to stop all of this. My head was willing, but my body kept betraying me each time I tried.
We shouldn't be in here with each other while stalling everyone outside. If anyone walks in here, then I've caused him the elections.
After a few seconds, there was a pause, and we just gazed into each other's eyes. Then his mouth claimed mine again, this time harder, with a mixture of heat and hunger that stole the air from my lungs.
I hoped it would be gentle, but it wasn't. It was desperate, almost angry, like he was punishing himself with every taste of me.
His fingers tightened around my waist, pulling me closer against his chest, and I could feel the tremor in him—the way he fought himself and still failed. His breath came ragged, very hot against my skin as his lips left mine only to find the curve of my jaw and the corner of my neck.
He sent all of them outside as if we were about to have some private meeting, only for the two of us to be here kissing. Anyone could have walked in, and I’d cost him the whole election. He is never going to be an Alpha president, and he won't remain just an Alpha either.
Nobody wants a cheat as the leader of a pack. Nobody wants a man who can't keep it in his pants as the leader of the werewolf kingdom. The only way he’d have a chance is if he stayed with his wife and ran side by side with her.
With me? An almost divorced Luna? He’d lose. He’d fall flat, and I’d be running him.
But Darius just doesn't listen. He stepped closer to me again, and I looked up at him. “Darius, stop. We need to stop!”
I hoped my voice came out firmly, but even if it did, Darius ignored it.
“You think I can help it, Blair?” he said. “Six years of yearning and hoping that Dominus slips and fucks up so I can take back what is mine. You think I can see you standing this close and not…?”
A deep sigh escaped his lips, cutting himself off. “Blair, just come back to me. Come back home.”
“I-I can't.”
“I can't, Darius. Your best shot is with Seraphina.” I forced a step back, and he watched painfully.
Then I took another. I should stand far away from him, that way, I can avoid another royal scandal.
“Darius, your best shot is with your wife. That's the only way to be the Alpha president you have always wanted to be.”
Inches away from him, Darius just stood still. He stared at me for quite a long time.
His breathing was hard, and his jaw was tighter than usual.
Those eyes—I knew what they meant. I could see the anger pulsing through his veins.
“Why can't you make the cut, Blair?” Darius snapped, his voice rising to a growl. “Why can't you ever stay? How is Seraphina a better pick? Everyone knows you. You're loved, you're popular, you're charismatic, you're beautiful. You've helped a lot of people win their cases. You've helped women be confident and win cases against their abusers. So how aren't you the best pick?”
He stepped toward me, his eyes fixed on me. “It'll cost me the elections to pick you?”
“Then fine. I will drop the elections. Someone else could become Alpha,” he announced in a low voice, and I gasped.
