Chapter130

This was the story of Jeremaih and I after 7 years. Three years ago, my marriage was finished. I went to California with my daughter Lexi.

Iris

Today,I was cooking at home and this little girl standing next to me was my daughter.

"Is that true, Mommy? You won't leave me any more? I missed you, Mommy!" Lexi started to sob.

I cried too, looking at my beloved daughter. I cried because she had missed me and because she had thought I had abandoned her.

"Yes, baby, I won't leave you anymore. Now, take me to your daddy, will you? " I asked.

She nodded and then pulled my finger. She pulled me over to Jeremiah's bedside.

My heart was beating fast and I tried to calm myself down. The next moment, Jeremiah's face appeared in front of me. He was on the bed behind the curtains. He looked so peaceful lying on the bed, pale and thin, but still looking so handsome.

I sat down on the edge of his bed when Lizzy came over and carried Lexi away. Then Leo said, "So now we will leave you and my brother alone."

I nodded. They left for the cafeteria at the hospital.

I touched Jeremiah's hand and caressed it slowly. I could feel myself starting to cry again.

"Jeremiah, I am here. I came back to see you, yes, you heard me right. I am here to see you, Jeremiah. Can you open your eyes please?" I sighed. I knew he would not open his eyes, which the doctor had already told me. The doctor had said that it depended on his will to live. He would have woken up sooner if he had wanted to.

"Jeremiah, I know that you can hear me. I want to tell you this now before I lose the courage to say it again." I started to speak, "I realize that I have feelings for you, too, but I don't know if I am just confused or if I really love you. I missed you a lot when I was in California." I took a breath to calm myself down and then continued.

"Lizzy told me that you have been here for a long time, which I did not know at all! I kept trying to see you on the news or social media but there was no word of your coma. Your family must have tried to cover that up. Jeremiah, please don't sleep any longer. We still have a daughter to raise, do you remember that?"

"Jeremiah, Lexi is already 3 years old and she is getting more and more beautiful, just like me, hahaha." I giggled, tears rolling down my cheeks.

"Haven't you said you love me? I read your letter. Your letter was the trigger inside me that made me realize that I love you. If you really love me, please wake up!" I cried.

But he did not move at all; he was lying there, peacefully asleep. I stood up and kissed him on the forehead. Then I wiped his face with a wet towel. I also brushed his hair and trimmed his nails.

By the time that I was done with all of these, it was already late in the evening and I didn't even notice it. Where were Lizzy, Leo, and my daughter? They could not have stayed in the cafeteria that long, could they?

I dialed Leo's number. "Hello, Iris?" said Leo.

"Yeah, where are you guys?" I asked.

"Oh, we are back at the mansion because we thought you would want to spend some time with Jeremiah..." Leo explained.

"Oh, that's very nice. Thank you!" I said, "I will stay with Jeremiah at the hospital. Please take care of Lexi for me. And please tell Lizzy that she can have a rest now; I will take care of Jeremiah." I said.

"Well, Lizzy heard you and said thank you." Leo giggled. Then we hung up.

I took a shower by myself and got into the bed next to Jeremiah's. It had been a long day for me and I was exhausted. Just before I went to bed, I decided to go and meet Tiffany the next day.

That bitch wanted to take it from me and I would not allow her to live in peace.

How could she be so ridiculous?

I could no longer stand it and picked up my phone.

I dialed her number, "How are you, Ms. Gomez?" She answered her phone on the first ring.

"You mean Mrs. Hughes, do you?" I said sarcastically.

"Don't make a fool of yourself. Jeremiah hasn't even married you." She scoffed.

"Not yet." I said.

"You..."

She started to speak, but I cut her off, "What the hell have you done to Jeremiah? Why has he been in a coma for so long?" I asked angrily.

"Hahahaha… Oh my God, Iris, have you finally fallen in love with this cruel man?!" Tiffany burst out laughing.

"Answer me!" I almost shouted but I remembered that I was in a hospital.

"Shall we talk tomorrow? Hmm? Let me tell you everything about your dear Jeremiah! I am going to tell you what a cruel man he is!" Tiffany screamed into the phone, and I could hear her voice trembling as the call ended. She was crying.

"All right. I will meet you at the shopping center near the hospital." I said coldly.

"Sure, we will meet at Starbucks." She said as she sniffled.

I hung up the phone and sighed. I needed to figure out what had happened while I had been away. Why had everything gotten out of hand?
