Chapter 116

Saturday. My appointment day which also turns out to be the pups play date and my lunch date. For some reason, I have been antsy since yesterday night. It only got worse today.

Honestly, I did not get it why I would be getting nerves when I am meeting a person I almost spend all my time with. Maybe it was Moira's voice in the back of my head telling me that this man likes me. I don't know how to feel about that. I have always seen Jeremiah as a friend.

I wouldn't say I liked him in a romantic way but he was an attractive man and I a mere woman. Who wouldn't be attracted to the perfectness he is? Certainly I wouldn't, it was why I had to remind myself to keep off.

I am in the waiting room of the clinic and today I was meeting with Dr. Gregory senior. It has been time since last I saw him.

When my name is called out I immediately pick up my pups and follow along as I make my way to the big glass door that was Dr. Gregory's. I was already expected in so I didn't bother knocking on the door.

When the door clicks shut behind me the older man looks up and gives me a heartwarming smile. I forgot how warm this man was, it made it easy to relax around him.

"Good morning miss Roberts." He greets.

"Good morning How are you" I great back. "I am superb, yourself? And the little ones?" he counters. Making sure that I have room for the carrier that I am always carrying in his office, I settle down myself.

"I am okay myself and the little ones are healthy as can be!" I felt better being in his office really smoothed out those nerves I had earlier. The room was wider that Gregory junior's office, this looked like a room built for comfort not like a doctor's office. It even didn't smell like one, there was a hint of jasmine in the air that just made you settle down and be comfortable sharing your problems with him.

Looking back at the man, he must have been a great catch back in his day, his features still showed how outlined his jaw was. Raising my gaze to now look at his eyes, I catch him looking at me back. He was studying me study his space, and by the looks of it he was amused.

Caught staring, I blush to the bone. My skin turning red all over embarrassing me more.

"Tell me, have you been having morning sickness a lot?" he suddenly asks. Since I was caught mid blush I stutter a little as I attempt to answer the question. But that's the thing, I don't remember feeling bad anytime of the day. To the point I forget that I am carrying again. I rub my tummy, "No not really." I finally tell him.

He looks at the gesture and looks back at me. He smiles, "I have always known that you were a strong one, would you mind telling me about the father. I'm assuming that he is the father of those little chaps right there. He says pointing his face in the direction of the twins.

But, what did he mean by ‘I have always known that you were a strong one.' I swear I heard some type of innuendo I am supposed to understand. But I didn't get it. It's when I remember that he asked me a question. "Uh, yes the father is the same. He is up in Oregon." That was as much as I felt comfortable sharing. He didn't need to know the details. It was unnecessary.

"Ah, is that where you are from? I was failing to place your accent. I had a friend up there but he met an unfortunate fate." His mood changes to somber. He genuinely looks sad and a hint of pity? What ever happened to his friend must have been very traumatizing.

"So how come he didn't come down to San Francisco with you lot?" I squint my eyes, this man was asking way too much questions for my liking. Why was he so interested in my husband's affairs.

"I am sorry but that is personal information I wish not to share." I thought I came for a checkup I didn't ask for and now I am being interrogated? No, not me.

He catches on quickly and realizes that I was not comfortable telling him about my personal life. He clears his throat and pushes up his glasses on his nose bridge. "My bad for being nosy, I apologize." At least he had the decency to apologize.

"Now for that checkup, we are going to conduct an ultra sound on you and let's see that chap." He changes the subject smoothly not even making it any awkward. I realized a breath I didn't know I was holding and finally relax. Then tense up again.

Did he say ultra sound? My tummy was already getting big by the minute. Very unusual for a six week pregnancy. And if my instincts were right this baby on the ultra sound is going to appear bigger than it should be if I were human. And to confirm it, the doctor did make it clear that it was just one hanging around in there. Which meant that this time it wasn't going to take time for me to give birth. By the third month I will be ready. Which is two trimesters before time.

Imagine how wild that would be, reporters swooning to see the pups I birthed and scientists trying to study me and my offspring. No, despite their niceness I had to discontinue coming here. It was no longer safe for them to realize what I am which was soon if I kept flaunting myself in front of their medical brains.

"Miss Roberts" I shake off the mental image that was glued in my mind. Apparently he had been calling for a while, I was just too tangled up in my thoughts.
