Adrien POV

“You don’t know where Diane is. Calm down. Your priority right now isn’t her.” Esmeralda told me.
I ask. I shouldn’t be focusing on Diane right now.

But on Kiela. Diane had poisoned her mind so terribly. It annoyed me that she was putting so much hate into a child’s mind.

“We’ll go home and settle this, but please don’t get mad at Kiela. She’s just a child.” Esmeralda pleaded again.

We were inside the car. On our way back home after finding out the shocking text messages between Diane and Kiela.

Julian had promised to recheck all the phones again in case he had missed anything.

I agreed and drove off from his house in a haste to get home to Kiela.

“I thought she was doing with all of this; I see that I was wrong to assume.”

Esmeralda sighed.

“It’s not your fault. She was indeed happy, but it seemed to have changed with my presence.”

The tone of guilt in her tone couldn’t go unnoticed.

I took her hands immediately.

“You are not to be faulted for anything. None of us is. This is just Diane trying ti get between us all. And I wouldn’t let it.”

She offered a quiet smile.

Arriving at the house. I walked straight to Kiela’s room while Esmeralda went to check on Nora and Noah.

When I got to her room, I noticed that she wasn’t sleeping on her bed.

Rather, she was at the edge of the Window, staring blankly at it.

It made my heart ache as I wondered what bad thoughts must be swirling in her innocent mind.

She didn’t deserve this. She didn’t deserve to grow up with hatred.

“Hey, sweetie,” I called her attention.

She turned to me briefly and got up from sitting near the window.

Her eyes were filled with so much sadness, and she was avoiding looking at me.

I could tell that she was not okay at all.

I walked towards her and took her in my arms. Then I sat on the couch in her room.

Thankfully, she didn’t make a move to get out of my arms. Though she didn’t also make
A move to hug me just sat in my arms coldly.

“How are you doing sweetie?”

“Fine.” She said in a very low tone.

My heart clenched even more.

“Are you sure, darling?”

Her big, sad eyes met mine. The pause in her face said she wanted to speak more, but she didn’t.

“Yes. Where is my phone?”

“We needed it to check something.”

A Frown latched on her face.

“Mum said not to let anyone touch it.” The words were obviously intended for her ears. But she had said it out loud.

And thankfully, I had caught it.

“Do you mean Esmeralda?”

“She is not my mom.” The defensive note in her voice said a whole lot.

“You mean Diane?”

Her eyes widened when she realized that she had said what she wasn’t supposed to.

“It’s okay, honey. You can be truthful with me.”

She bit her lower lips in contemplation.

“Come on honey, you know I love you. You can talk to me.”

“I just want mommy. Here with you and me. And not Ms Esmeralda. Or Noah or Nora. I wanna go home.”

“I understand sweetie. Changes can be hard. And it’s my fault for not noticing it. But changes are part of life. And they are totally normal.”

“But I don’t want any change. I want to go back to how things were.” She whined.

I sighed. Ruffling her hair.

“Give it time, sweetie. It’ll all come back to normal.”

She only huffed at my statement.

“Can I at least be allowed to see mom?”

“I wish that were possible, but your mom can’t be reached right now.”

“Why not?”

“She was involved in lots of bad things. And she has to be punished for them.”

“B-bad things?”

“Yes. She tried to kill me, Ms Esmeralda and her children.”

She gasped in horror. Going quiet.

“This is why you can’t be texting or contacting your mother.”

“B-but she’s not a bad person. She said-“

“Trust me, sweetie. Have I ever lied to you?”

She gave me a skeptical look.

“Mom isn’t bad.” However, her tone didn’t sound too convincing.

I hugged her tightly. Caressing her hair.

She relaxed into it.

“It’s okay, sweetie. I know it’s hard. Everything is, but I promise it’s all going to be okay.”

After that, we went downstairs to have dinner. Kiela was quiet throughout the meal.

And she avoided eye contact with everyone.

After dinner, she went straight to her room. I tucked her in first.

Then, Esmeralda joined Nora and Noah in their room.

After they had both been tucked in.

We sat on the veranda of the house. Enjoying the cool night air.

“How did the talk go?”

“I don’t know for sure. I can only hope that she comes around.”

“She will.” Esmeralda soothed my legs.

She was sitting on the opposite end of me.

So I used my hands to pull her to my lap, causing her to shriek and giggle at the action.

“What are you doing?”

“I don’t like the distance between us.”

She blushed. Making my heart warm.

I push a strand of her hair behind her ears.

Then I leaned down and took her lips into mine in a slow, pleasurable kiss.

I pulled back. And her pupils were slightly dilated.

I kissed her again.

Enjoying the feel of her lips on mine. I could feel every part of her body. And I loved it.

Her little moans were driving me up the wall. Her hands came on my chest. And it took everything in me not to take her right there.

I released her from the kiss.

“We should stop. I won’t be able to stop myself from going further.”

She pushed her body against mine more, and I growled at the impact of her ass on my crotch.

“What if I don’t wish for you to stop.”

This had to be the favourite line of every man.

I pulled her closer. “Are you sure?” My hoarse voice surprised me even more.

“Yes.”

A brush of relief passed through me.

I went straight for her lips, kissing her with more passion and want.

Soon, she was left breathless. I stopped to let us both catch our breaths.

“Does this mean that we are officially boyfriend and girlfriend?” His squeaky voice made me so happy.

“We are mates. We are more than that.”

She blushed profusely. And I leaned to kiss me.

After which, I stopped the kiss. Since she had consented to us taking things further.

I didn’t wish for it to be rushed. The day I took her should be planned and really special. After all, it’s been five years since I had her.

She pouted her lips. Clearly, I do not wish to stop.

I laughed. Kissing her nose. She looked so cute right now.

“You don’t want me.”

I brought her hands down to touch my groin. She widened her eyes in shock.

“This is how bad I want you.”

“Then why do you keep stopping?”

“I haven’t had you for years if I am to know. I want it to be special. Not rushed. An experience that you likely wouldn’t forget for quite a while.”

Her cheeks turn crimson.

I placed a peck on it.

After that, we stayed in each other's arms, enjoying the peace and quiet of everything.

“I really wish everything would be as peaceful as this chill night air.”

I kissed her hair.

“Very soon.”

She fell asleep in my arms. And I carried her bridal style to her bed. Tucking her in nicely.

I was on my way back to my room when I heard a loud thud.

Curious, I followed the sound in which it came from.

Turns out that it was from Kiela's room,

I entered the room, which was quite dark, though I could see Kala sleeping on the bed.

The sound of a thud sounded again; it came from the wide-open window.

It seems the breeze caused it to open by itself. I was about to close it when I noticed a long white linen tied to the window, which ran all the way to the floor.

Confusion filled me. Why would there be linen here? This looked like someone was trying to escape or perhaps sneak in.

I rushed immediately to the bed to check on Kiela, but when I touched it, I was met with the feel of a soft cushion pillow rather than the feeling of my daughter.

The alarm filled me. Kiela wasn’t in her bed. Somehow, I knew she had been the one who climbed down from her bedroom window.

But I also knew she couldn’t have done it alone. Meaning she was with someone, possibly Diane.

The fact that the thud I heard had just sounded a few moments ago also means that they must not be far from here.

I ran down the stairs and out of the house. I went to the back of Kiela's room, but no one was there. I did hear the sound of a car engine at the back of the house. Where the woods were located

I rushed to it.

I spotted Diane hurrying into a car and driving off into the woods.
