Chapter 193 UNEXPECTED GUEST

Chapter 193 UNEXPECTED GUEST

Chapter 192

Rosa's POV

Leo!

The word hit me hard like a hammer slamming against my spine. I couldn't spit it out. Spitting his name out would cause more trouble. Would raise high brows.

My eyes flickered toward the direction where he stood, hiding behind the crowd. He buried his face into the ground. Using every part of the hood to cover his head.

I looked again. It was him. I couldn't be wrong. So that I wouldn't spot him from the platform I stood on.

He had hidden his face completely behind a fat omega in front of him that was big enough to cover every inch of him.

The more the omega moved his body, the more Leo shifted his body to hide behind him so that I wouldn't be seeing him from where I stood addressing everyone.

That was a sign. A big sign that it was him.

Leo is not dead. How come? I knew I shot him, I watched how his lifeless body disappeared into the bottom of the river.

Or did he play a prank on me, pretending that he had died so that I would leave him alone?

So that he would later show up the way he had shone up in a way like this.

I clutched the side of my trousers. Fear crawled through my skin. My throat suddenly went dry.

But I swallowed the panic down, forcing control over the fear surging through my voice.

I cleared my throat, pretending that all was well changing my gaze to the multitude I was addressing.

“I… I will not stand here and watch you disobey and desecrate the throne you claim to have sworn an oath to.”

I managed to get the last part out, but my attention kept drifting toward where Leo stood.

I made sure not to let the audience notice.

It could raise eyebrows. People would turn their attention to him… and then…

Questions.

I was about to finish—to run out of the palace hall. Maybe lock myself in my room and order the guards not to let anyone in.

I knew I was teetering on chaos.

Leo’s chaos. Leo was not here for gold anymore. He was here for my life.

He was here for revenge and how I had played him perfectly well.

And the lies about the gold I didn't have.

If I did, I would have given it to him, the last one given to the late chief prison Warden was the one Jax gave to Leo for revealing the truth about Leo being alive? If not I would have taken some from the palace treasury to appease him.

But every access to it had suddenly disappeared from Jax’s room.

Only the goddess knew who had gone in and taken everything behind me.

Then a thought hit me.

I snapped.

“That is Leo!” Pointing to him in the midst of the crowd.

“Don’t let him go—he’s a murderer!”

“He killed your king! I have proof—he lured your king to his death and killed him at alpha Dominion's pack.”

“No… no! I didn’t do anything. She’s lying!” Leo shouted.

Murmuring spread like wild-fire.

He killed an anointed king by the gods?” Someone close by muttered.

A few people around him turned. Intense Shock painted on everyone's face.

“Arrest him now!”

“The queen is lying! I didn’t touch the king!” Leo countered raising his hand at first.

A few people turned their attention to me. They didn't believe me. The moment was quickly shifting to his side.

I swear I didn't touch the king!”

“Ask him where your king is. He was the only one that left with the king apart from his driver. Ask him where the king's drive is too!”

That was what they needed.

I quickly added and this was the final straw. “I have proof. In my quarters, pictures that he had killed alpha Jax. Someone sent the picture to me this morning. I have them with me.”

“He traveled with Alpha Jax yesterday, but we don’t know where Alpha Jax is now—”

“I just received a report… your king is no more.”

Uhhhh….uhhhh…

Heavy drawn murmur. You kill the king? You want to being the curse on this pack again?” Some said.

Leo quickly studied it. People were closing on him. No one believed him again.

Then...

He pulled out a gun.

Bang! Bang!!

He fired twice into the air. Everyone scattered in different directions.

The fat omega in front of him tried to overpower him.

Leo pointed the gun and shot him twice in the chest.

“Ahhh!”

Pandemonium erupted.

People scattered like roaches in the dark.

“Let me have my gold!”

“Seize him! Don’t let him go—he’s a murderer!”

I shouted from the platform, trying to hide at the same time, my voice overwhelmed with a terror I had never known before.

Through the windows and doors—chaos everywhere.

Some dropped to the ground, lying flat, praying not to be shot.

I hid behind the three guards standing in front of me as I continued shouting.

Damn.

None of them were armed.

Only batons.

Leo spotted me through the scattering crowd.

“You manipulative beast!” he roared, pointing his gun at me.

His voice thundered through the hall.

Then he began moving toward me, anger simmering violently in his chest.

His face was red with vengeance as he pushed through the crowd.

I searched desperately for a way to escape through the path the guards had formed around me.

Leo raised his gun.

Bang!

He shot one of the guards.

The bullet hit his shoulder.

“Ahh!”

He staggered.

Leo lifted the gun again—this time aiming at me.

Then—

Two loud gunshots echoed.

Not from him. From somewhere else.

“Ahh!” Leo cried out in pain.

His body slammed to the ground like an earthquake. Heavy footsteps rushed into the palace grounds.I saw Leo writhing on the floor. The bullets had struck his left leg and his right arm.

He pointed a trembling hand at me.

“She’s fake!” he shouted. “She promised me gold! She’s the one who sent Brielle! She was the one who sent me to kill your king,” The word echoed through the room. Like a shattered porcelain on a tiled floor.
Those who had begun to rise froze. Shock spread across everyone's faces.

Then they turned their attention to me.

“You … kill … our king?!”
