Chapter 194 I DIDN'T TOUCH THE KING

Chapter 194 I DIDN'T TOUCH THE KING
Chapter 193

“You instructed him to kill our king?”

Three of them echoed the words together. Others in the room quickly turned their attention towards me.

They stood up, leaving whimpering Leo, who was lying on the floor in pain and his blood gushing out endlessly on the floor like a river finding its path.

Their attention suddenly shifted to me.

Their faces suddenly turned reddish.

The few others who were in the room and had lain on the floor when Leo was on the loose with the gun suddenly stood up.

Their ears perked up. Others that had run out of the palace started coming back.

“Y…yes, she instructed…me to kill the king!” Leo's voice thundered into the room. That was the last straw.

Everyone looked at me and themselves in the room. The Pendulum had shifted in the room to Leo.

“Someone should send for Alpha Vexhood now!” An old she-wolf’s voice erupted, cutting through the air like a whip. “I can't face the wrath of the gods anymore. I lost my fated mate and my firstborn the last time the gods struck this pack.”

“You killed our king?” another voice countered.

“I didn't do anything… I swear I didn't touch Alpha Jax… He is lying?” I replied, panic crawled into me.

“I…i have evidence,” Leo quickly countered. Speaking softly, but pressing down the pain and the blood gushing out. “She instructed me that alpha Jax must not come alive into this pack!”

“Abomination!” someone said. “You lay your hands on an anointed alpha to the throne?”

A voice countered, “How dare you? Don't you fear the gods? Don't you fear their anger against the pack?!”

The attention of everyone had glued to me, faces reddish like hot coal. Not friendly, unlike just a few minutes ago when I was barely addressing them. Others had been walking slowly, with measured steps towards me, with only one thing in mind—to arrest me.

Another voice erupted through the scene.

“You think we didn't have eyes to see too, how you and alpha Jax used to fight repeatedly since you stepped into the palace and you got angry by the slightest means possible?”

That was like a fist launched to my ribs. I knew they were seeing a fight between Jax and I but I never knew I had the guts to be speaking this way.

At least I am the queen of this pack.

“Seize her!” the old woman commanded. Her voice came out raw.

Everyone gained distance towards me. Their feet scraped the floor concurrently. My heart stopped working.

“I didn't touch the king, I have evidence!”

The palace air, laced with respect and regard towards me just barely a few minutes ago, and since I had stepped into this palace from day one, suddenly disappeared into thin air. I knew they had been waiting for this day. And it finally came.

Fear gripped me, I stepped back, almost into the wall, like I should possess a metaphysical power like Alpha Vexhood to command the walls behind me to open up and swallow me.

I drifted back, my steps moving backward gradually, until the wall asked me to stop.

My eyes darted around me, seeing angry pack members that surrounded me, ready to suck my blood like vampires.

Their eyes turned reddish. Fist and claws laughed against me. Heavy grunting follows.

Leo had been left on the floor; his lies had superseded mine. Their attention had totally shifted away from him, now to me.

The air thickened like mist. But strangely, the room temperature heightened on my skin like bread forgotten in the oven.

I looked around the palace hall—four different wide entries into the hall. But all of them had been blocked by a few pack members who had run back inside. So means of escape and if I was to do that, how many distances could run before this one would catch up with me.

Few were looking around for weapons. They knew the gravity of what had just happened and the penalty that would follow.

The penalty is death. I would be banished to the pack border and be stoned to death.

No one touches a king in a Stormfang pack. No one. Even great Alpha Vexhood would dare not. If not, he would have cut Alpha Jax's bluff since.

Then a fat man darted towards me, stretched his hand, reaching for me. He had balled his hand into a fist.

When utterances came in like a whirlwind into the room.

“That’s enough!”

Everyone in the palace hall turned to the point where the sudden intensified voice came from.

Alpha Vexhood!

The heavy sound of his totem hit the floor with a big thud.

Everyone at the entrance of the left wing door into the palace departed.

Alpha Vexhood walked into the room. His shoes hit the floor, sending shivers into the spine of everyone, including myself.

His hand clasped around the totem. A heavy strange breeze found its way through the room.

The fat thing who wanted to pounce on me earlier

turned. Saw Alpha Vexhood. Mouth went agape. His once reddish face suddenly softened. The anger disappeared through his pores.

He lowered himself to the ground right in front of me. His knee hit the polished floor with a dull thud.

“T…the holy one…” His voice shook. Turning, Alpha Vexhood had walked into the room and stood in its centre.

“The queen… and that thing over there killed our king… they both killed the king… we are dead in this pack… The moon goddess would strike us… and beat us into shapes the way she had done in the past.”

His voice shook; panic crawled into it, like that was the only thing he knew how to do.

My head couldn't wrap round it—if he was scared of the entrance of Alpha Vexhood into the hall or the lie about to turn truth from Leo that I was the one who had killed Alpha Jax.

My vision narrowed to Alpha Vexhood. He directed his vision to the ceiling, like the gods had opened a portion of it and had been speaking to him through the place.

He held his totem in his left hand. The strange hissing sound and fear-gripping color emanated from it.

The palace fell into deep silence. But young and old kept quiet; some had even tiptoed.

The last thing they wanted to experience is the splash of the blood of the innocent one on their body.

Then he suddenly jammed his totem on the floor.

Grr….

More greenish light illuminated. He raised the totem up a bit above his head, pointing his right fingers in a cyclic manner to almost everyone surrounding him.

Almost everyone scampered in different directions. Even the unborn knows what it means. Danger looms. Someone had crossed the line.

Then he stopped at poor Leo lying on the floor.

“S…spare my life, the holy one…” his voice shook. “I am speaking the truth.”
