Episode 7: Mistaken For Seriousness

Gwen.

I managed to stare at them as they approached my hiding spot. Fear coursed through my body, and I realized there was nothing I could do at this moment. We were already caught.

Her hand slowly opened the curtain that was covering us while I was breathing very heavily.

"Caleb!" a voice sounded, immediately distracting them.

I don't even know who has that voice, but it sounds familiar.

"Oh man, you look good! Long time, bro!" the voice said while Ariel was standing close to me but now turning her back on us facing the guests, pretending like everything was okay. I think she has an idea we are hiding here.

"Oh yes, you too! You look good, bro!" Caleb responded to him.

"And the lady? Is she the one we are celebrating? The Luna-to-be?" the voice asked, referring to Ariel.

With that statement, Ariel got so distracted. While pretending to be okay, she approached a little bit closer to him, giving me a chance.

I no longer care about what they are talking about. I began figuring out a way out and discovered that there is a tunnel close by.

I gently removed the plank used to cover it in a way that wouldn't make noise. However, all of a sudden, the wood fell out of my hand, making a single sound.

"What's that?" the voice asked.

"Absolutely nothing! I think it could be coming from the other room," Ariel responded. I immediately held my breath. Of course, she doesn't want to get exposed. That's the reason why she defended us.

Slowly, I took Ava into the tunnel, pushing her deeper, and then I joined her. I was almost suffocated in there, but I managed to escape from it.

Just as I was stepping out of the tunnel from the other side with Ava, I noticed Ariel and Caleb gazing at us from the other side.

Then I knew that they would soon begin to hunt me, so I quickly carried Ava and started to run deeper into the woods, even though I was struggling with her.

When I felt that I had run a little bit far away, I decided to rest and apply some treatments of herbs that I know on her.

After picking up some leaves from the bush that I know it neutralize poison, I applied them to her mouth and sat beside her, waiting to see if she would regain consciousness or if it was already too late.

I wish she could just get up immediately because this is all I can do. I can't do more than this anymore!

Sitting beside Ava, I began to think and wonder about the kind of love she has for Caleb, that she can't just move on with her life. Is it because she wants to be a Luna? Isn't that foolish?

Seeing yourself among people who clearly don't want you and yet staying in their midst, hoping they will change. How long can you continue like this? If you see it's not working, why don't you just move on before it takes a toll on your life, like it almost did now?

Ava's fate right now is uncertain. It will take grace for her to return to life if the moon goddess allows it. But I hope she wakes up because I am also deeply unsafe since I have involved myself.

"Ugh!" I heard a moan after a few minutes of waiting, and I quickly stood up, happy to discover that Ava was back to life.

"Oh, thank goodness you're okay. I thought you were gone forever," I said as I hugged her immediately.

"What are we doing here? Where are we?" Ava asked, realizing that we were alone in the woods at midnight.

"Ariel and Caleb were desperate to kill you. I believe they are still coming for you. I managed to get you out of the pack when I overheard them discussing how to dispose of your body."

"Then I rushed into your room to find you lying on the floor, bleeding heavily. But I noticed that you were still breathing, so I knew I needed to get you out of there. Thank the moon goddess that you're alive, Ava..." I explained to her.

I didn't want to tell her about the part where Caleb regrets his actions because she might still think she can fix him and foolishly return to him.

Suddenly, tears started running down her face.

"My lady, it's okay. Just forget about that! Do you hear me?" I asked, almost in tears, as she struggled to look at her skirt. I couldn't tell what was wrong, but immediately she saw the blood flowing, she lost her breath again. I think she fainted. I became scared.

"My lady! My lady! Help!! Somebody help!!" I screamed loudly, calling for help, but no one showed up.

"Nobody?" I whispered tearfully, thinking about what to do. At this moment, there was nothing I could do. The only help I needed now was to reach Alpha Dante.

And in this case, I needed to see Samson. He is the only one who can reach Alpha Zed at any time, as he serves as his personal servant for the time being.

"Okay, wait here. I will be back immediately," I said to Ava and ran back to the pack with speed to seek help from Samson.

•

When I reached the pack, I didn't want to use the main entrance because Caleb and Ariel would definitely catch me. By now, they must have many eyes looking out for them.

Instead, I decided to follow the same tunnel I used to escape before. Surely, they would think I would never consider going there again. Besides, it was the only way if I wanted to avoid the main entrance.

As I infiltrated the building, I heard footsteps approaching, and I quickly hid myself. Luckily, it was Samson.

I ran out and called his name, "Samson!" He looked back.

"Gwen! Where the hell have you been? I have been looking for you! Caleb is searching for you all over the house," Samson asked, and I quickly dragged him into Ava's room and locked the door.

"Where is Caleb now?" I asked, and Samson shrugged his shoulders.

"I definitely don't know where he is now, but you look scared," Samson asked, and I nodded my head.

"I'm scared, Samson. Ava has been poisoned by Caleb. They are determined to kill her, and Caleb never intended to marry her. He wants to marry Ariel. Ariel is in this pack!" I said, while Samson started to laugh.

"What's funny?" I asked.

"Because you must be joking, right?" he asked, and I immediately slapped him.

"Ouch!" He moaned, and then I nodded my head. "Be serious for once in your life! This is a matter of life and death! Ava is still lying lifeless out there in the woods. She needs help immediately," I said.

"Okay, what do you want me to do right now?" Samson asked.

"You are the only one who can reach out to Alpha Zed! I need you to help me get to him. Tell him everything I said," I replied, and he nodded at me.

"Wait right here for me. I will be right back," he responded as he opened the door and left the room. I quickly locked the door and anxiously waited.

I waited for one to five minutes, but there was no knock on the door. I became restless because we had someone who was dying in the woods. Ava was dying! What was taking Samson so long?

You know, he could be so senseless at times. I just hope he hadn't forgotten the message or gotten distracted by something else.

After an additional two minutes, I finally heard a knock on my door. "Oh, thank goodness," I said as I quickly went to unlock the door.

"Sam..." I was trying to call his name when I discovered that he had Caleb and Ariel standing beside him.

"Why are you looking at us? Where is Ava now so we can go help her!" Samson said.

"Samson, what have you done? I told you to call Alpha Zed!" I yelled at him.

"I couldn't find Zed, so I decided to inform Caleb, and he agreed to help! So let's go," Samson said, and I let out a heavy sigh.

"Samson you are so dumb really! Caleb..." I was still saying when Caleb interrupted.

"Shut the fuck up, hero! Since you won't learn to mind your own business, this time I'll teach you a lesson," Caleb thundered as Samson widens his eyes.

"Oops, I forgot Caleb is the one who poisoned Ava. I made a mistake! Let me go and call Alpha Zed." Samson said then pointed his hand at Caleb.

"Caleb, you better leave here before I return," Samson dumbly said and attempted to walk away.

"Come back here! How dare you speak to me in that manner!" Caleb yelled at him, and it seems that he realized his himself as he suddenly fell silent covering his mouth.

"Now, Gwen, lead us to where you're hiding Ava in one minute!" The devil herself, Ariel, said, her words carrying an ominous tone.
