Episode 14: Could You Allow Me Fix My Mistake?

Ava.

The moon was shining so brightly as it was midnight. I was sleeping on my bed earlier, but as soon as it struck 12 o'clock, I woke up.

Here I am, sitting alone, contemplating whether I really have to do what I have in mind against Caleb.

Looking at my baby sleeping on the bed, I felt like I am about to rob him of a father, but no, I am not.

Caleb is not the kind of father my baby needs. Alpha Dan is the kind of father I want for my baby, not a heartless man like Caleb.

Having made up my mind, I stood up and looked at my baby once again before my eyes turned white and I transformed into my witch form.

I closed my eyes, and when I opened them again, I found myself standing inside Caleb's room, and he was fast asleep.

Even after the warning I gave him, he didn't seem bothered at all; he was sleeping peacefully.

Though he was not supposed to be here, I thought he was supposed to have gone on a hunt with Alpha Dan as his beta.

Alpha Dan and Kennedy never get separated when Kennedy was with him. This simply means that Dan also doesn't trust Caleb, despite claiming to do so.

Well, as I looked at Caleb, I started feeling like I couldn't go through with my plan anymore. It was as if I was fighting with my own heart until I managed to stretch forth my hand, and his eyes turned white too.

Then he simply stood up from the bed and approached me, standing right in front of me. I watched him grab himself by the neck.

I was controlling his mind, trying to make him kill himself, but as he was almost terminating his own life, I could no longer keep up with it, and I disappeared, leaving him behind.

I appeared back in my room, returning to my normal self. I sat on my bed, covered my face with my hand, and began to cry.

I just don't know why I couldn't do it. I know I'm not trying to act like I still love him. No, I don't. I definitely don't.

Even though my mind is telling me that, I still doubt it. There is no way I can still have feelings for a man who almost killed me.

Why didn't Caleb just leave me alone here? Why did he return to ruin my happiness again? He shouldn't have shown his face to me again, and I wouldn't have cared about him.

Moreover, as I was shedding tears and lost in deep thoughts, my baby started crying.

"Oh, darling, you're awake. Come here," I murmured as I approached him, carried him up, and began to sing to him.

THE NEXT MORNING.

As I didn't sleep on time last night, I was awake throughout the night taking care of Sam.

It was very early in the morning when Sam decided to sleep that I decided to relax on the bed, and as soon as my back touched the bed, I fell asleep.

I didn't know when the day fully broke, and even though Sam was awake, he wasn't crying. I believe he knew that his mom needed to rest, which is why he stayed quiet and still.

While I kept on sleeping, I heard a knock on my door. The knock sounded several times before I managed to open my eyes, still feeling weak.

"Yeah? Who is there?" I asked.

"It's Caleb. Please open the door for me," the voice said, and suddenly, a surge of strength came upon me.

I knew he must have been here to talk about last night, but I wasn't ready for that, so I refused.

"Go away from my door, please. I don't want to see you!" I said as I sat up on my bed.

"The Alpha has ordered me to give this to you," he said the I stood up from the bed and approached the door and slowly opened it, only to see him holding a cup of coffee.

"The last time I accepted something like this from you, I nearly bled to death! If you weren't so foolish, you would have known that I will won't accept this," I said to him.

"Then why didn't you end all this last night? If you knew you don't have feelings for me anything for me, then why didn't you end it last night?" he said while I silently looked at him.

"I was hoping that you would just end me last night so that both of us could put an end to this once and for all. Because I can't leave here without you or our baby, I can't, Ava. I made a very big mistake in the past, and I'm ready to fix it if you allow me to," he said, tears starting to fall from his eyes. I found myself holding back tears as well.

It seemed like he meant every single word he was saying, but I didn't want to believe in anything he was saying anymore.

"Ava if you're not going to let me fix those mistakes, I will keep trying, and I will surely get back my lost mate and my baby," he said as I yelled at him.

"The baby is not yours! Get over it, Caleb! don't claim what you tried to kill!" I yelled at him and slammed my door shut, then sat on the floor and began to weep.

I stayed there for a few minutes until I heard another knock on my door. I wiped off my tears and cleared my voice so that no one would realize I had been in a bad mood.

I stood up and opened the door, and it was Alpha Dan returning the coffee I had just rejected from Caleb.

"Are you okay, Ava? You've been acting strange these days," Dan asked. I smiled and acted like I was okay.

"Come on, I'm fine," I responded.

"Then why did you have to reject the coffee I made for you?" he asked, but I wasn't able to respond. Instead, I kept silent.

"You have shown that you dislike James being my beta. Don't worry, I will replace him," Alpha Dan said.

"No, no, this has nothing to do with James. He's actually good. It's just that I didn't feel like having coffee this morning. But I'll try it if you insist," I said and took the coffee cup from him. Then He stepped inside and approached Sam.

"I can't wait for him to grow up and take over the pack. He seems like someone with the potential, being born through a great woman," Alpha Dan said, smooching Sam's face. I approached him, gazing at the baby too.

Then he looked at me, and we locked eyes. He began to kiss me, but I pulled away.

"I think we shouldn't do this now. It should be after our marriage, and it's not far away. It's the next full moon," I said to Dan, who nodded in response.

"It's okay," he said, kissed my hand, and left the room. He is a man with a great spirit of understanding.

But now I'm starting to feel confused. Should I just go with him or give Caleb another chance?

"My lady!" a voice sounded, and I was frightened, but it was actually Gwen.

"At least knock next time before entering the room," I said to her as she silently approached, looking at me.

I knew what she wanted to talk about, so without her having to tell me, I responded.

"I couldn't do it. I just can't get over Caleb," I said as Gwen sat beside me.

"Maybe you can try to get over him and move on. Very soon, you will be mated to Alpha Dan, and that should be the biggest pain he will bear for everything he has done to you," Gwen advised.

"Gwen, you don't understand. Caleb came to me this morning. He apologized. He said some words that I just can't get over," I responded to Gwen as she smiled a little, but it was a sad smile.

"I don't understand. What are you trying to say, Ava?" Gwen asked.

"What I'm trying to say is that I could sense some truth in everything he said. I could sense him regretting all he has done," I responded as Gwen shook her head in surprise.

"Seriously? Don't tell me that you're considering going back to a man who physically wanted you and your baby dead! A man who never cared about you!" Gwen said, scoffing and holding my hands.

"My lady, getting married to Alpha Dan is the only way you can have peace of mind and a safe life for your baby," Gwen advised, but I kept shaking my head at her.

"Fine! If you want to go back to Caleb and ruin your only chance at happiness, then go ahead and count me out of it!" she thundered and angrily left my room.
