33; He hates me

Freya’s POV.

He had ordered everywhere to be decorated with the finest of materials. This was Celine’s specialty as she went about checking and making sure everything they had bought and placed rhymed with the feel of the house.

Oliver glanced around the house. His gaze skipped every corner of the house. I couldn’t tell if he like it or not as his face was closed off from any emotion.

He wasn’t dressed like I had expected him to. Just a casual plain white top and jeans while Stephanie on the other hand was dressed so flashy. Her makeup made her look different, I wouldn’t have recognized her if not for her black her with a brown tint to it.

It was time for Grandma's medication, she had been ill this past few days. We had already gone to the doctor and he ministered her some drugs. I walked past them when the mention of my name from Oliver’s lips paused me in my track.

I turned back “Yeah?”

“We have some important and dangerous people coming here soon,” he said, I had no idea why he was informing me. If he had guests coming over what does that have to do with me?

“I know” I looked around the house pointing out the obvious. It was right there in the eyes of everyone there was no need for him to tell me.

After the incident at my place of work. I had done everything possible not to cross paths with him. From waking up early not to run into him on my way to work to not eating dinner and not sitting at the table with him. Celine has noticed it and called me out of it.

I couldn’t tell her my heart had started beating again for him after he had stood up for me and called me his. I couldn’t allow that, he could cause me more pain than he already has.

“Stay inside, no matter what” he ordered, thinking he still had the right to do so. A part of me wanted to obey every command at the sound of his voice but the major part of me was still hurt by him.

“Why?, I see no reason why I should stay inside,” I said, folding my arm on my chest. I could feel the bud of my nipples harden by the breeze I felt In my born and I didn’t want him to think he was the cause of it.

I must have seemed stupid to him, he had just told me they were dangerous people and here I was asking questions that I already knew the answers to.

“Don’t ask questions, listen to me just this once” he begged, like I hadn’t been listening to him since I had known him.

“She is allowed to accompany you, to go welcome your guest but I am not allowed to even come out,” I said with disdain referring to the lady that clung unto him because she knew I was watching, her smile said it all.

“She is different from you, and besides she is my fiancé” I shrunk back, hearing the reality he was engaged. Something I hadn’t wanted to embrace. He didn’t need to point out he had preferred her over me.

“Fuck you” I didn’t wait one second and headed to my room. I was angry at myself and also at him. Why did I let his words affect me so much when I shouldn’t?

I could hear rushed footsteps hurrying after mine “Freya! Freya!” Celine calmed rushing after me.

I hadn’t reached my room when angry tears started flowing from my eyes. I opened my door and rushed inside before I could have a breakdown with open eyes.

“Freya, what the hell do you think you are doing running off like that?” she panted heavily, trying to catch her breath from the small run she just did.

“I didn’t know what to do, it just hurt so much knowing they are together” I cried.

She came closer to me, trying to get a look at my face since I was facing the other side of my room “ shit, are you crying?” She turned me to face her, cradling my face in her palm as she wiped away my tears. “He is an asshole, you shouldn’t let him hurt you” she advised in a small voice trying to make me feel better. But I didn’t.

“I know, but I can’t just help it” Every time he mentions them being a thing it was like a dagger piercing my already sore heart.

“It is okay, he isn’t that cute anyways” she scoffed, placing my head in her chest as she lay on the bed beside me.

“Why don’t you just find a rebound?.” she looked at me “Like Taylor said. To get over someone you have to get under another” she sang in her annoyingly bad voice making me laugh out loud despite the ache I felt in my chest.

“I am not you Celine, it is hard for me to get over someone no matter how hard I try to” I sighed, moving away from her chest and lying down facing the ceiling.

“Yeah,” she retorted half-heartedly, her mind already in another place. “Or what do you think? Should we move out?” She suggested.

I didn’t know. I loved this job and this house as much as I could. I had never planned ahead, ignoring the what if. Even if we wanted to, where would we go from here? And despite the money I had gotten from working here and the job I had ongoing. It wouldn’t be able to sustain us after buying an apartment and imputing the necessary things. I needed this job so badly now that Celine had nothing to do.

“I don’t know, Celine. We have nothing planned out” I turned my head to face her.

“We would figure something along the road.”

“Maybe not now. If the need arises we flee together” my lip lined in a straight line.

“Together” Celine murmured, her throat bobbing up and down.

“Yeah,” I thought for a while, from Celine quitting her job all of a sudden, to her moving out from where we stayed without telling me then those strange men from the other day. Something was definitely off. This felt like the right time to ask her.

“If you were ever in trouble you would tell me right?”

She hesitated for a moment “Of course, we are sisters” She smiled at me but it no way reach her eyes.

“Okay, those strange men who were they?”

She sighed “Just some people that are obsessed with me”

My phone dinged with a notification stopping whatever reply I wanted to say to her.

“Shit, I had forgotten about grandma” I looked at her before sprinting to grandmother’s room.

The door was opened widely, and she had a plate of pie in her hands, eating it happily.

“I can feel you are feeling better” I laughed.

She laughed along with me “Of course, those meds work miracles” Funny she had only taken it once and recovered quickly.

“That reminds me you are yet to take them” I opened her drawer searching for the drugs.

“Oh darling, I already took them. You don’t need to worry about anything”

I looked at her skeptically, she had told me she hated them and she didn’t want to take them the day that’s had prescribed the drugs to her. “You sure?”

“Yes” she smiled “I heard we had visitors around. Have they been served anything?”

“I don’t know. Oliver had told me before they arrived not to come outside.”

“Why?”

I sat on the chair beside her “he had said something about the guests being dangerous.”

“That’s the reason?”

“Yeah”

She shook her head “You should go serve them tea and biscuit along with your friend Celine. I don’t see them dangerous if they are at our house” she said.

I didn’t want to get into trouble with Oliver, he had made it clear he had want to see me but here was his Grandma urging me to go serve them.

I stood up “I will be back as soon as possible” and walked out the door.

Celine was already there in the kitchen “I was on my way to call you”

“I got hungry. Is there a problem?” she asked bitting off from a pizza and keeping it back in her place.

“Nothing at all. We were asked to serve the guests refreshments”

She nodded her head, finishing the remaining bit of her pizza before dusting her hands.

********

I quickly changed my clothes from joggers to a sundress. I wanted to look presentable, not homeless.

I placed the tray containing tea cups and saucers and biscuits with a teapot gently on the table turning my back to head back when a question held me on one foot in front of another.

“Is she part of your maid?” The boy with spiky brown hair asked. He wore a robe making him look funny and the same time royalty. The man beside him was short but the way he sat you would know he was a powerful man. The guy in question was no doubt his son— there was a striking resemblance between them both.

“Who?” Oliver asked. He pointed at me making my eye widen. Immediately Oliver’s eyes met my face. His fish clenched tightly. He was mad at me I could see it clearly in the way he scowled at me.

“Does she look like a maid to you?” Celine eyed him with irritation at his unnecessary question. What sort of question was that? Oliver didn’t have a single maid in his house so what did he mean by part of your maids?

“Good” He flat out ignored the look he was getting from Celine and turned to Oliver “Forget about the assembling of the girls, I want her” he pointed at me. He regarded me like I was something he could get just because he said he wanted me. All these rich men.

“Excuse me” disgust was clearly written on my face, just by his mere presence “I am not a product you could want, so have some respect”

The bastard had the nerve to laugh, throwing his head back “You are cute” he stated making me heat with anger. He was taking me for granted.

Oliver stood up suddenly. It showed he had had enough “She is off-limit” He gritted out. Awakening the butterflies in my stomach “I would get you other girls to pick from like I had promised”

“Why wait till then when I could have her, I want her no one else,” he said, I think I saw him pout. Or maybe I was imagining it.

“Well, you can’t have her, like I said she is off limits. Besides she is human” What did he always mean I am human? Of course I am, we all are. If I did ignore the little things he does that are inhumane like how he was growling right now.

“I still don’t get what you guys are talking about,” I said, I was so confused I could feel my brain sending pain signals from how hard I tried to figure things out.

“I don’t see how that has to do with anything I said. She is human so what?” he smiled.

“You can’t have her.” His voice vibrates with every organ in my body, sending chills down my spine but it seemed I was not the only one as I could see Celine shudder.

He looked at his father. “You ain’t saying a thing, father?”

Oliver was whispering harshly to Stephanie, what they were talking about was unknown to me.

The air was tense with anger. Most of it was from Oliver

“You are going back on your word, Alpha Oliver” his father deadpanned.

“I am not, she is not a member of the pack so she isn’t an option.”

He signaled to his son as they both stood up “Alright, get ready for war” his father threatened.

“We are always prepared, Alpha Romeo.” He smiled at him. I knew nothing of the war in mention but Oliver seemed confident in himself. I also did too.

The both men and the guards they had brought with them walked out the door.

Immediately Celine closed the door behind them, and Oliver's eyes snapped to me. I knew I was doomed right there.
