True Reunion
TALIA'S POV
Had he listened to the whole of our conversation? If he did he must be very disappointed by my mother's attitude.
"My mother just got too disappointed by our mad father. She is scared of trusting anyone anymore. There is however nothing left for you to prove. You have been your true self and I like it." I try to explain.
"Thank you." He says and pecks my cheek. "But I don't see any issue with waiting. We will always be here together after all. And I want to give your mother the time she needs to trust me." He adds looking genuinely okay with the decision.
I shrug my shoulders before hugging him. Then we both gape in astonishment when I let go and my mother walks forward and hugs him too.
"Talia is probably right. I did swear not to trust any man again after living with that lunatic for nine years. I don't think you're anything like him. But I wanted you both to be sure that you'll love each other for life before jumping into a legal marriage." She explains in an apologetic tone.
"That is totally understandable. Talia and I will date for a year or two if that is what will restore your trust in true love or the existence of good men." He responds with a smile that oozes confidence.
Mother seems quite surprised even as she nods and happy smiles.
"Can I date you for a month?" Taylor jumps back into the room looking a little afraid still but smiling like her old self. I had thought that she had lost her exuberant demeanour but it appears she was just sick and a bit depressed.
"Welcome back . . . you look lovely," Evan says in a sweet voice.
She shakes her head. "No, I don't. But it's nice to be lied to by a king." She jokes again, this time looking more relaxed.
"He didn't lie. You look pretty in that dress." Mother says and I see her cheeks turn a little red.
"Okay . . . guess I don't look as thin as I saw in the mirror." She sarcastically says with a timid smile.
I imagine she isn't very confident with her looks now like she used to be three years ago. But the fabric of her dress is thick enough to mask her thinness. If she stays here she will be looking curvy in a few days.
"Why don't you come dance with me?" Evan asks and Taylor goes stiff with shock.
"I . . . I can't dance. I don't . . . know how to." She stutters, excited but afraid.
"I will show you how to." He responds, walking to her and taking her hand.
"I can't do this!" She mouths at me looking very anxious as he gently pulls her hand.
"You'll be fine." I mouth back smiling encouragingly.
She shrugs and follows him out. Hopefully, he can actually teach her to dance because Taylor hates feeling embarrassed more than anything. The problem is if he succeeds she will always demand that they dance at any opportunity she finds. She is not just energetic, she also loves to be seen.
"Your mate is a special kind of man. Life would have been heaven if your father was half as good." Mother comments after they are gone. Sounds like she trusts him but still wants to be careful. I am so glad Evan doesn't mind waiting. He is a special kind of man of course.
"I really would like to see Michael, can you take me to him?" She asks and I nod.
"Yeah, let's go."
We walk back into the party hall to find everyone dancing to the beautiful voice of the female singer at the front. I sigh in frustration assuming we will have to fight our way through, but the frantic crowd immediately makes way for me to pass. I feel touched by their show of respect even though I know they will be whispering things after I pass.
Mother walks close behind as we get back to the front where there is more space. And the first thing I notice is Alpha Wilson and Silvia engrossed in a very intimate dance. They look like they are in their own world as they hold each other as their lives depend on it.
Silvia appears completely enchanted by the man holding her. She giggles when he lifts her up and spins her around. I wonder what her father would think if he was here.
They lower back down when they both notice me passing. They quickly approach, smiling like two teenagers that have been allowed to have fun for the first time.
"He's my mate." Silvia avers her hand tightly wrapped around Miles's lean waist.
"Really?" I question because I remember that Miles has another mate, the young girl he rejected because she was too dumb to be his Luna. I didn't think he would be the one to get a second chance when he is the one that rejected her.
"Yes, I finally found my perfect Luna." He affirms.
I feel happy for both of them even though I know there is another girl that will be heartbroken after hearing about this. His first mate seemed too in love with him. But she was a lot like Rose, someone who focused too much on their looks and thought showing more skin would make them irresistible. Hopefully, when she learns about this she won't commit suicide as Rose did.
"You'll be perfect together. I am so happy for you." I say with a genuine smile.
"Silvia is an incredible lady, a beautiful warrior. You're a lucky man." Mother says and they finally notice her.
"You're back?!" Silvia exclaims before hugging her.
"Do you mind training some more? I imagine being a Luna isn't going to be easy." She asks acting overly excited.
"Of course, we can start as soon as tomorrow if you want." Mother agrees and Silvia hugs her again.
I hear the crowd cheer out loud suddenly and immediately look at what has excited them. A nervous smile curves on my lips at the sight of Evan and Taylor joining the dance floor and the rest of the crowd quitting everything they were doing to watch and cheer.
Taylor's face looks as red as a ripe tomato. She is extremely nervous like she is going to turn and run for the door any minute.
Evan smiles down at her endearingly and all her features immediately relax as if that smile alone gave her the confidence she needed.
"Those girls are clearly dying to get their hands on him." Silvia comments pointing at the many girls watching Evan with smitten faces. "You two should get married as soon as possible." She adds teasingly.
"He said he would wait a hundred years as long as he marries her. There is no need to hurry. It's not like he would take interest in any of those girls anyway." Mother responds with a confident smile.
Her thoughts are so inconsistent. She trusts him in every way but still demands that we wait a year before getting legally married.
