Rainbows And Unicorns
TALIA'S POV
He wasn't kidding about teaching Taylor how to dance. It's like he has been doing it his whole life. His flawless moves make both of them seem like professionals even though he is gently and carefully guiding her. Taylor gets more and more excited and confident as she happily follows his guide. If he wasn't my mate I would feel envious watching them.
"Mom?!" Michael's voice exclaims from behind and we all turn to see him rushing down the stairs ahead to Evan's servant, his cute eyes glowing with delight.
Mother runs to him and picks him up even before he gets to the bottom of the stairs. He shyly covers his face as she pecks him all over.
"You came back?" He anxiously asks.
"Yes, we came back to stay with you and your sister." She affirms and playfully pecks the tip of his nose.
It's hard to believe that this moment of pure bliss I had fought so long to achieve is finally here. Everything feels so perfectly okay, like waking up to a morning of warm sunlight after a long winter season.
I know life won't always be rainbows and unicorns, this is earth after all. We will be ruling a race of werewolves, some of that is not comfortable with how different we are from them. Trouble is bound to arise at some point.

EVAN'S POV
I wish I could say that I have everything figured out. The truth is however the opposite and I am afraid of letting Talia know.
The future may look bright now that her whole family is back and almost every Alpha and Luna showed up today. Alliances don't always last, especially when you're not so like the others. There will always be tensions and unexpressed hostility until the moment treaties can't hold anymore.
I could curve into their insane ways so that tranquillity lasts. I am however not that kind of person. I don't know how to withstand their brutality towards slaves or the acts of immortality that they perceive as lawful. I would rather not be a king at all than turn a blind eye to the suffering of innocents that they abuse in every way.
If I can't be the right King then I would rather take Talia's hand and ride away in search of our own heaven. I
"You look gloomy." My mate observes, pulling up the thick and heavy blanket to cover my bare chest like a caring mother.
"You know we don't have to respect my mother's request to wait a year, right?" She asks her eyes filled with concern.
"There is a need for us to wait. I am sorry I am telling you this now because I felt you had too much to deal with." I start, finally deciding it's best that she knows about the inevitable trouble that our reign will have to face. "The allies we had today, they won't always be willing to comply with every one of our wishes. They will want us to disregard their brutal acts towards slaves and the omegas in their packs. I am not willing to compromise with wickedness and that will cause us trouble." I explain and she simply nods her head like she is not bothered.
"I never expected you to compromise with their evils, it would be a shame to turn a blind eye when we have been provided with powers to fight it." She firmly states. "I however don't see why we should wait so long before getting officially married." She adds gazing at my face intently.
"Even our people may at some point become comfortable with our rules. They are also werewolves that have a big natural inclination towards dominating and oppressing those that they deem weak. It's like their goddess doesn't mind. They won't be pleased when we force them to do the opposite." I pause and take a deep breath before pointing out the real issue. "If we are not legally married no one will have the right to hold you and your family accountable for my decisions or actions. No one will unleash their anger on you or your family if they are not okay with the laws of this Kingdom or what I demand they do. I cannot let your mother and siblings go through more pain after the horror they have been through."
She silently thinks for a whole minute. "We cannot stay unmarried forever." She points.
"We will get officially married once our people genuinely accept to change their ways and treat everyone with respect regardless of their strength and social status. If that doesn't happen within a year I will let go of my crown and we will go find our happiness far away from here." I humbly say expecting her to look shocked. But a smile curves on her lips.
"You would walk away from a king's throne when your subjects fail to behave?" She chuckles.
"My goal has always been to rule over reasonable people, not the vulgar beasts they now behave like," I say and she rewards me with a brief kiss for some unknown reason.
"You have been secretly selfless. It's becoming unbearable how perfect you are." She says with a joyous laugh. "I will be right here with you every day regardless of how our people behave. I will happily ride away into the sunset with you if they fail you." She adds in a lower, alluring voice.
I sigh in relief feeling proud of my decision to trust her with handling the truth with grace. She is the perfect one. I somehow wish for a happy life with her away from here then I want to divide my attention between her and the people of our Kingdom. But as long as I got the crown I have an obligation to at least try.
