Kings Of Ruthlessness

TALIA'S POV

I doubt I still look beautiful with all the worry and exhaustion on my face. The number of sleepless nights I have had is terrifying. My skin should be wrinkled. I am surprised I am getting stared at by literally everyone I pass by.

I have gotten so used to it and taught myself not to care. What makes me sick however is what they whisper to each other thinking that I cannot hear them. I was wrong to think that I had escaped the gossip by coming here. The servants here seem to have more time to talk and my being here has apparently become their favourite topic.

I wish my ears have filters because I listening to their exaggerated

tales about me and Evan and the reasons why I left him and came to make me feel infuriated.

I miss the time when I was an ordinary girl with an awesome mother and cute siblings. I had nothing interesting for people to talk about and walking around any place was like being at home. I had nothing special but I was happy. Which is the opposite of what I am now. Simply being myself is tiring.

It's hard to believe that the people that are excitedly gossiping about me are Alpha Jason's slaves that Miles turned into paid slaves. They were shown kindness yet they are too mean to think others deserve the same.

I came out here in the backyard so I can be alone and not hear any of the things they say. The grass is worn out from constant trumping by training soldiers. Luckily none of them is around today and the silence is refreshing.

I wonder if my mate is close to finding my sister. I don't doubt that he is doing his best, he promised he would. I am just worried that by the time he finds our father it may be too late.

The man must be mentally ill. No sane father would lock up his daughter like a prisoner no matter how bitter he is. Evan will most likely break every bone in his body when he finds him. I honestly wouldn't care in the slightest, the jerk deserves it.

One of the back doors opens and my servant steps out, looks around and sighs when she spots me. She literally runs towards me.

"I have been searching for you everywhere. Why didn't you say you would come here?" She huffs after halting in front of me.

"I didn't know you would search for me. What is it?"

"Our Alpha has asked that you join him and his soldiers in the palace hall. They arrested the councilman that was working with his father." She informs and I instantly get on my feet.

She leads the way to the palace hall and I didn't bother to take a tour around the palace. The large hall is already crowded with soldiers and servants when we walk in. I happen to be tall enough to see all corners of the room despite the big, curious crowd inside. A piercing cry echoes throughout the hall and I immediately look up at the raised stage at the front.

The councilman that had a smile on his face yesterday now kneels like a submissive slave at Miles's feet. His face is bruised and blood flows out of his broken nose and shallow cuts and scratches on his skin. He whimpers and coughs in agony but the Alpha's cold glare doesn't soften.

The councilman looks like he was beaten, dragged all the way here and is now suffering more punishment at the hands of his uncompromising Alpha.

Most of the soldiers and servants seem genuinely amused by the brutal scene. I bet werewolves do love an alpha that is not afraid of showing his might.

"Where is my father? Better give me a good one because will not ask again!" Miles roars and the man's broken body stiffens in fear. The Alpha has got a shimmering sword in his right hand and his ominous expression is enough to make one believe that he won't hesitate to use it.

"Alpha Owen of Blue Mountain pack agreed to secretly host him . . . in his palace." The man stutters in a thick, hoarse voice. I sigh with a new surge of hope. Even before my execution Alpha Owen was an enemy of our Kingdom. He had a grudge against Evan's father for some unknown reason. I am not surprised he is the other fool that is willing to risk a war with my mate. Our list of enemies keeps getting longer. Hopefully, this is the last time we will successfully rescue my mother from the hands of that monster.

"Your father wants you to help him bring down that powerful . . . arrogant King . . . Evan. Your father has strong allies that are ready to fight on your side." The councilman adds and the big crowd surprisingly boos out loud.

I had thought that they were in support of their former alpha. They are apparently not that foolish.

"I no longer take orders from my father," Miles states in a voice full of resolve. "I am the Alpha of this pack now and you have been conspiring with my mad father behind my back! That is an act of treason!" Miles snaps and the councilman visibly trembles in fear. Everyone is dead silent as if anticipating something phenomenal. But I notice some looking quite apprehensive.

There is no hint of mercy on the Alpha's face. I cannot predict what he will do with the man, it's just obvious it's going to be brutal.

"Sir I -" The man on his knees says in a pleading voice but is cut off.

"I. Do. Not. Condone. Betrayal!" Miles snarls angrily. Then everyone lets out a gasp when he raises the sword in his hands.

"Your father will never forgive you if you kill me!" The councilman yells.

Miles scoffs. "My father's head will be the one I am going to cut next!" He snarls before bringing down the sword hard and slicing the man's neck.

The women in the crowd shriek loudly in shock. The soldiers seem just as astounded but don't seem to disapprove of their Alpha's ruthless actions.

I may have agreed to torture the man but not to behead him in front of a crowd. Treason or not there are less lethal ways he could have been punished. But it looks like Miles also wanted to send a message to his enemies and traitors. Apparently, Evan isn't the most ruthless man alive.

The crowd steps back as the man's head fall and rolls down the stage. It's horrifying because all the man did was give out information to the former alpha behind Miles's back. It wasn't a crime worthy of losing his head for. The man probably has a family but I bet Miles doesn't care.

TAYLOR'S POV

"You better hope she is alive because otherwise, I will cut off your head in front of her mother!" The voice makes my sick body shiver even before my mind has fully processed what he said.

It's him! The powerful and ruthless Prince Evan. His voice bears an unmistakable amount of resolve and he always sounds like he owns the world.

Our mother was accused of trying to kill him. That false accusation is the reason I ended up here and my sister's life was unfairly taken. I thought he and his family were done destroying us. So what is he doing here?

"Her mother hated me! She loved to humiliate me even in front of our children! I am sorry I did this because of anger! Please forgive me!" I hear the voice of my kidnapper pleading. He sounds extremely terrified!

Then I hear him scream out loud as if attacked by excruciating pain. He groans and moans for what feels like an entire minute and I am sure it is the powerful Prince making him feel the pain that isn't really there.

"She should have cut off your stupid head!" He hisses. Fear courses through my body despite the fact that I am already in extreme pain. "Open the door!" He orders and my kidnapper huffs as he fumbles with the lock.

The door clicks open and footsteps rush in. I wish I am able to open my eyes. But I am so weak that I can feel my body slipping slowly into unconsciousness.

Two fingers touch my neck as if searching for a pulse. "She is still alive, your Highness." Whoever touched my neck reports.
